Thank you for this video ! I was searching a way to use my favorite coffee in my Tassimo, but there are no Tassimo reusable capsules like for Senseo or Nespresso... For those who are bitching about how much time it take, you only need to drill a few T-Discs once, you can reused those for a certain amount of time. You can also prepare a lot a T-Disc when you are free and use them along the week. Buying new products means more plastics in the ocean, and at least, with this method, you can use the coffee you like, organic or fairtrade (those are not sold with this type of machine), or even your favorite tea, you don't have to only use the brands Tassimo offers you. People are always unhappy, always critisizing... If you don't like this method, buy original T-Disk, or a regular coffee machine, you don't need to be a dick.
Hoho, you are my "eco soul mate" cause I've done all this things with capsules because I'm afraid of/ don't want to multiply plastic in the ocean ) my coffee isn't fairtrade, but I really like this trend/ eco certificates/ organic farming, etc 🐕🍃🌈
I used to refill mine as well. Then I calculated the time and effort to do the work and I decided it's just best to buy them. Your saving pennies versus dollars. But I applaud your ingenuity just the same.
By all means, lets buy a $200 dollar coffee machine that we then can not afford to buy the refills for. It seems like a whole lotta trouble to go through to save a few pennies. And if he would have used that little funnel for the coffee first and then the milk it would have been easier. Thank goodness I don't drink coffee. You shouldn't either, it stuns your growth.
Thank you for posing this. Personally, I’m pleased that you took your time and showed each step precisely. I will start experimenting with different creamer’s and coffee’s. Although, I do have one question, What is that little button thing you put in the hole and where could I get some?
For those wanting grommets he did answer in a reply. Look for 9mm rubber closed grommets. That's 9mm grommet for 8mm holes took prevent leakage. Don't make hole bigger because hole goes through curve which won't seal correctly. I wonder if there is a food grade option. From several (Russian?) writing commenters was suggestion odd the rubber tip from 2.5-3 cm medical syringes. Last there was a comment if refilling discs within condensed milk using a ink refilling kit in the right place so no need to seal.
Thanks for this video. I've done the same thing but every now and again it blows the grommet out from the coffee pod and it goes everywhere. not so bad now as i don't use as much coffee in the pods now. The grommets, if your looking for them are same you get from a motor factor. car shop/garage around 10 to 15 pence each. they do need replacing as the heat effects them.weakens them. I also find some powder milk mixed with normal whole milk makes a great cuppa.hope this helps
I would be very grateful if you could possibly tell me from where I can buy the grommets/bung which you use in your video -have searched everywhere and only able to buy a big pack of mixed sizes and they only contain 4 which are suitable.
+Bernard Martin Thanks for that I'll give it a try, only problem I can forsee os that the condensed milk will make it too sweet for me. It's really the grommets that he is using in the video that I am after but he isn't replying
+Bernard Martin Thank you for the link and I will try and get them. There is another question -the piece that he puts onto the drill bit what is it called and from where do you think I can get one. The problem I had with drilling is that I quite often went too far in and ruined the disc, because as I pushed down and got through I was unable to stop the bit entering further.
Thank you for the information but holy shit bro, going through the same thing with each different disc and showing the camera each and every disc done the same way for no less than 10 seconds is a bit overkill, even with cleaning them lol
Thanks - even with the extra work it can be worth it here in Sweden - we cant get as many different Tassimo brand as the UK gets - so I am thinking very seriously this could be a really good idea to get some of the flavors I am wanting and are available as regular coffee. It's a good, clear video!
+Linda Smith If you can fit it into the drilled hole well then it should be better. One problem I found was if the hole was too large then the curve of the capsule would cause a leak...
Surely the point of having a Tassimo is that you can buy the discs off the shelf and not fiddle around with the coffee. If you are prepared to go through all this every time then why not not just buy a regular coffee machine and put in what ever coffee you want?
+londontrada Thanks for the comment. It's not a method I use often, but it comes in very useful to make discs of a custom coffee that I like and Tassimo has quite a limited selection at least in the UK...
+photopuppet yes, I find the same, limited in the uk. I buy a variety pack in bulk from Amazon, but sadly I am still unable to find a way to buy a type of disc I like in bulk. I can only buy variety packs in bulk. Never mind, first thing in the morning, if it has caffeine in it, I'll drink it lol!
I probably wouldn't take the time to do all of that. However, once you get it down, as I'm sure you have, it would probably go pretty quick. You would essentially get an extra use out of each one as opposed to driving to the store to buy a package. Again, not worth it to me, but I get it.

Could you drill two holes at opposite sides to flush the used stuff out instead of having to fill, shake, empty, repeat? Or would this just double the chance of the water pressure drowning the machine?
Genius so bud may I ask what size drill bit was that and where do I get them rubber grommets to plug it. A Verry usefull video I was gutted when I saw the price of the pods and I like coffee just did the maths and though I spend £5 a day on a coffee that gets me pritty wired I might as well but a machine so I did do to find a barcode sneaky sent they but you my good man have saved the day I'm converted from granulated now can't stand the instant stuff and as for the trouble you have to go for it's not that hard it's hardly backbreaking now is it don't get why people are saying it's a stupid idea it's a great idea.
Great! Filling a disc is a lot easier than cleaning my espresso machine! I love the Tassimo. Just got for Xmas..Have already spent $70 on the discs..Great idea..wondering where to get the plugs...Thanks Loved your video
If you go somewhere like eBay and search for '8mm grommet' (or whatever size you decide to drill the hole... 8mm is what I used), you'll find plenty there. Just get the 'closed' type with no hole in, and also make sure it's rubber and not PVC (PVC ones melt and deform)...
That is incredible, i love my Tassimo coffee machine but i hate Costa-only all i can find on markets. Thanks that video i will enjoy with my own choice of coffee
Nely Yordanova Thanks for the comment :) Video was just to give some rough ideas about how to reuse them and hopefully others will come up with improvements on how to make the process better over time!
You can just put the yellow plastic disc and hold the button down to dispense hot water so what's the point. I just make tea that way with mine. It goes as follows. Insert yellow disc, fill up the reservoir, place a cup under the nozzle, and hold the button until the cup has the desired amount of water in it.
How many times do I need to see a hole drilled? And as for putting the bit in the bloody drill, oh dear! The idea is good for the milk (i'd rather just plain milk than whatever Kraft are putting together) though not convinced it won't be very much watered down. Now I've seen what the things are you've used, I can see once done how this is a good idea - though the coffee bit is such a damn faff I'd have to be pretty hard up to go through all that (though no offence to those who are in that position).
I drink mostly tea so have been refilling my own disks for 4 years now. Can do my own blends, and it works beautifully. I use a rubbed stopper, would love to find these grommets instead. Where to do you get them? Purchased my original kit from My Cap.com.
Which coffee would you recommend and have you worked out approximate co stings when filling a pod? Many thanks for the video... I'm going to give it a go just for the hell of it!
Yeah, might try this if I can find the grommets. My initial thoughts were: Ugh. So much effort! But then I kind of thought that I'd noticed a tub of coffee that I prefer on sale at a local store, but it isn't available in T-Disc format and the entire box of coffee was the equivalent of about a forty T-Discs for the same price as a single Tassimo pack. If I spend maybe an hour - total - drilling holes and filling in, say, twenty pucks on a day when I'm doing zilch, I'm effectively saving myself about $30 including taxes. Plus I'm recycling those T-Discs, which has always made me sort-of sad... Also, I'm thinking the coffee filling process might go a little smoother if you also used a dry funnel and banged it around a bit?
Yeah, it's just for the option of using different coffee that Tassimo don't provide... I found once you have a box of drilled and clean discs, you can fill something like 20 of them and plug them in a matter of minutes, then store in freezer for use :)
photopuppet my tassimo is in storage cuss no store selling the disks in my are anymore , the other coffee makers won the coffee war I guess cuss tassimo is not even sold in fort wayne in
This only really works out if you earn less than $30 per hour and therefore represents a saving on your equivalent time expense. For most of us who own this machine, we probably earn more than that and it is just easier to buy t-discs.
If you add a skewer into the funnel as you shake the funnel it moves creating air gaps letting powder drop faster. I do that when refilling spice jars, salt shakers, etc... but John Doe 321 commented elsewhere they but small tipped small squeeze bottles from beauty supply shop. Then once discs are clean they quickly fill them.
Thanks for spending time showing us how to insert a bit into the end of a drill, I would've been lost without that segment. 13 minutes to show how to do this was quite long. I understand you're just trying to share something you figured out on your own, but this is a solution in search of a problem that doesn't exist.
Tried this, it did not work out well lol coffee everywhere. Not sure If I put too much in the disk or the ground was to fine or what. Think I'll stick to the store bought.
photopuppet Maybe when you make the next video, you could let "everyone" know: COFFEE EXPANDS WHEN WET ! Take a look at a new capsule for a gage on how far to fill. Perhaps you could draw a little line for them in permanent marker.
My God, so many bitchy people, if you cant say anything nice, just dont say anything at all, you weren't forced to watch the video.. Great idea for the environment..good job mate
Totally defeats the object of having a Tassimo machine and the selection of drinks that are available. Just use a kettle and instant coffee for goodness sake! What is the point??
the thing is...you produce less plastic trash. Thats what it makes important.great idea.only the black clips for closing, would be nice to know where they are from
I didn't get how you did that the first time. When you got to the second pod, I was like, okayyyyyy. However at the third pod I was, like, OK I think I get it now! Yay! But when you did the fourth pod, I was like all dumbed out again. So, like, do you need to drill a hole in the pod? Like, don't you lose all the coffee inside it when you do????
I applaud your initiative and resourcefulness and the effort put into the making of this video but all the work you've gone to seems to defeat the whole purpose of the tassimo as a quick, simple and easy single serve coffee maker. When it comes right down to it you can make great cheap quick coffee with a pot on the stove, a strainer ( if you wish) and a spoon. We love our tassimo by the way.
***** I've got Aeropress as well, Larry, use it quite often and makes fantastic coffee. I'm honoured for your comment on one of my videos, btw! Enjoyed your part on Ashens & Quest for the Gamechild as well as your own videos :)
photopuppet It's amazing for what is just a piece of plastic and a bit of paper. But thanks dude, that's really kind of you to say so!!! Tha\t scene i'm in in Ashens' movie also had mny DFad in it if you look carefully :D But I got more videos coming reasl soon!!!
Good idea but seems time consuming, I could have stuck the kettle on and be done by 1 minute in lol! However, I guess if you refill a load of them once a week to last you the week (bearing in mind to keep the milk ones in the fridge if you use fresh milk), it might be worth it. The tassimo has a barcode on each disc to tell the machine what temperature water to use, how much water and how much strength of coffee to allow through, so be mindful to fill the correct things into the correct discs so the machine reads the barcode and makes it properly. A thimble of latte in an espresso disc would suck lol!
I am. Having so much fun. Tassimo doesn't make peppermint mocha coffee pods. Or matcha and sencha tea. This is a great video! I'm not cheap I bought $60 worth of pods last week. I enjoy putting my own coffee/teas in the pods
for the milk its okay, but with the coffee it is quite a mess. once I managed to not accurately put the Disc into the machine. It was an unbelievable mess. Why is there no professional refill Disc on the market yet?
No need to drill hole in milk capsule as it can be poured into through the top larger hole already crak opened when used for firt time. Put it under the tap, rinse it and pour milk inside with a Shringe. No need for rubber stoper I wonder if also possible to pour ground coffee with the shringe too... It will save time drilling consuming and rubber or cork preparations, also the rubber taps could be toxic when heated.
I normally have espresso will a bit of milk (cortado), so what I do first is to pour two fingers of milk in a cup, shake the mill with a baby shaker to make it creamy spongy 20 microwave second's. Then ready for the espresso on it and it's delicious...
A Big Thankyou!! A fabulous idea and great way to pocket the pounds we give away to the corporations! It may take some time but gives you more choice and less waste for Mother Earth..Much appreciated, I mean really it can cost alot, buying those pods so thanks again photopuppet
has anyone tried simply getting a used tassimo pod, peeling off the foil lid, filling it with powder/coffee then wrapping it back in tinfoil/aluminium foil?
there are coffe brands like Prima (polish) and Kopiko indonesia that will speed you up like best gear.. tassimo is less opwefull coffee than my chineese green tea, oh and now i can make tea too!
Prima 500g 1,50 gbp how many capsules you can make>? but I prefer loding other coffee machines that make also 3.3 bar, and they have knock off system , left over grains will use for body and face scrub, but all depend on personal needs
I'm a vegan and I love soya milk latte from costa, but I am unable to find soya milk discs for tassimo which is a shame, so this would be a great way to use dairy alternatives, or if you have allergies (providing you wash the original disc out thoroughly especially with allergies). Plus, it's helping to save the planet. People laugh at small things like this, but if every tassimo owner reused 1 disc a week, it would have a profound affect on the planet in even just a year. Every little action makes for a big difference. Good job.
I love that you made this video. Tassimo discs are very expensive. The problem is 1) keep showing the same thing over and over. 2) where do you get the plug 3) I think you have to heat milk at a high temp then let it cool before you put it in a disc.
Thanks, much appreciated :) Not very good at editing videos so it was mainly just all clips from my camera joined together! I'm going to try and edit a better one now I have a better computer to do that on. I bought the plugs from eBay - just search for "closed grommet" and also make sure they are rubber ones rather than plastic. I found recently that 9mm works better fitting into 8mm hole as the 8mm plugs would have a small leak sometimes so 9mm seems to work perfectly!
photopuppet Do you protect the bar code with anything? (Like maybe a piece of packing tape? With all of the handling I would expect it to get scratched or worn out. Thanks for letting us know about the Rubber Plugs. BTY don't listen to all the naysayers; If your coffee was in a larger dish I expect you could just scoop it along the top until it's full. Good work ! Thanks.
Gee, I don't suppose you could show us the holes for a little bit longer? I forgot what they looked like XD
It actually when from daytime to night during the making, bless him
after going through the whole process , this video makes me just want to drop my coffee into the sink and to grab a vodka bottle ..

I know exactly what you mean I will never get that 4 mins of my life back lol

Quel est le nom de ce café bleu?
The only thing that concerns me is where I can find the 8 mm plastic taps. I suppose that my dremmel is pretty good for the making of this project.
What type of coffee is ideal for these are we talking regular drip type machine coffee French press etc or freeze dried granules

If that's the case it's still much easier to buy a $10 cheap coffee machine at Walmart for those rare occasions than it is to go through all that.
Where do u get these tabs? That plug the hole.
londontrada Tis video should have taken 1-2 minute's max. Dragging it out for 13, Lost the will to live
Thank you very much :) Now I can refill my discs with my favourite tea and coffee mixtures :D
Just an Awesome video!
Superbly done. 👍
You're one hell of a frugal lover.
Where you get the little black nob things from though??
The whole point of any capsulated coffee machine, tassimo included, is convenience and sir, this is neither!
I probably wouldn't take the time to do all of that. However, once you get it down, as I'm sure you have, it would probably go pretty quick. You would essentially get an extra use out of each one as opposed to driving to the store to buy a package. Again, not worth it to me, but I get it.

This will be great to use for dairy alternatives! Finally can have a costa latte with coconut milk!
What if you just put your own milk in without using the pod
@@hahahaha9151 depends on whether there is a frig nearby. That would work with powdered creamer or uht 1 shots, but then again that's more plastic.
Thank you, for all your tips (about drill size 8 and its view especially)! It really works!!! ♡♡♡ I use it and it's okay / functional
where we find such taps to close the wholes??
What did you plug the capsules with?
I am just interested in filling capsule with fresh milk as I find the non fresh milk in the pods tastes terrible.
Great! Filling a disc is a lot easier than cleaning my espresso machine! I love the Tassimo. Just got for Xmas..Have already spent $70 on the discs..Great idea..wondering where to get the plugs...Thanks Loved your video

I would like to know where you bought the plugs?
Tried this, it did not work out well lol coffee everywhere. Not sure If I put too much in the disk or the ground was to fine or what. Think I'll stick to the store bought.
hilt m Sorry to hear :( Sounds like the seal wasn't holding in for one reason or another.... Well done on at least trying it though. :)
photopuppet Maybe when you make the next video, you could let "everyone" know: COFFEE EXPANDS WHEN WET ! Take a look at a new capsule for a gage on how far to fill. Perhaps you could draw a little line for them in permanent marker.
hilt m Lmaro
+Margaret Reid Better still margaret, just tell them it's easy to just BUY a disk, lol
+Margaret Reid ... and make sure you video how to draw the line on many capsules - one of each type wouldn't be enough, surely? lol
what's the plugs
geht's noch mal in Zeitlupe??? Is einfach viel zu schnell gezeigt, ich komm da echt nicht mit 😣
ernsthaft ? ich fand das ewige gezeige zu viel und habs vorgespult.
That looks delicious 😍
My God, so many bitchy people, if you cant say anything nice, just dont say anything at all, you weren't forced to watch the video.. Great idea for the environment..good job mate
I think so too
in the time that took you, i could have brewed and drank a coffee before you had finished
whats wth the barcode?? if its use he didnt work anymore...
Totally defeats the object of having a Tassimo machine and the selection of drinks that are available. Just use a kettle and instant coffee for goodness sake! What is the point??
For some reason, this video gave me the creeps 😱
Im with you.. Do you also get the feeling that there is someone tied up in the basement.. begging for their life... Maybe its just me lol
Breathing intensifies *_*
Me too but I'm not sure why lol!
The Silence is creepy!!
I was looking forward to it going a bit Howtobasic but that never happened
what r u using as a plug ???
Cafitieres are also available
I can't find these same grommets.
where have you found your plug
Find them on eBay... search 8 or 9mm grommet :)
photopuppet 8mm grommets reusable ?
the thing is...you produce less plastic trash. Thats what it makes important.great idea.only the black clips for closing, would be nice to know where they are from
Great video. Where did you get the great drill bit and the round depth gauge?
I wanted tool know that too.
Were wold I get the plugs please.
www.etsy.com/ca/search?q=tassimo%20reusable
I use an aero press. best coffee i've ever tasted.
*****
I've got Aeropress as well, Larry, use it quite often and makes fantastic coffee. I'm honoured for your comment on one of my videos, btw! Enjoyed your part on Ashens & Quest for the Gamechild as well as your own videos :)
photopuppet
It's amazing for what is just a piece of plastic and a bit of paper.
But thanks dude, that's really kind of you to say so!!! Tha\t scene i'm in in Ashens' movie also had mny DFad in it if you look carefully :D
But I got more videos coming reasl soon!!!
Get up at six and enjoy your coffee about eleven thirty. Damn
Andrzej Raczynski that's about right. Ha ha!
Where the heck do you get the rubber plug?!???
Does it take twice as long to clean as well?
for the milk its okay, but with the coffee it is quite a mess. once I managed to not accurately put the Disc into the machine. It was an unbelievable mess.
Why is there no professional refill Disc on the market yet?
No need to drill hole in milk capsule as it can be poured into through the top larger hole already crak opened when used for firt time. Put it under the tap, rinse it and pour milk inside with a Shringe. No need for rubber stoper
I wonder if also possible to pour ground coffee with the shringe too... It will save time drilling consuming and rubber or cork preparations, also the rubber taps could be toxic when heated.
Perhaps they will one day bring out refillable pods, or ones not made out of plastic.
It may take some time but gives you more choice and less waste for Mother Earth..Much appreciated, I mean really it can cost alot, buying those pods so thanks again photopuppet
bonjour, ou trouver les bouchon caoutchouc????
Ahh yes.To use my own favourite coffe brand in expresso machine. Thanks for the video and great tip!
If you have the patients for that great. 'll stick to the Keurig with the easy to fill refill cups for it.
What do you use to plug the hole?
has anyone tried simply getting a used tassimo pod, peeling off the foil lid, filling it with powder/coffee then wrapping it back in tinfoil/aluminium foil?
bugger that... I'll just buy new ones...
+Jason Ruggles Exactly !!!
Yep, 5 bucks at Walmart for 16, and the coffee tastes great, with no drill shavings!!!
there are coffe brands like Prima (polish) and Kopiko indonesia that will speed you up like best gear.. tassimo is less opwefull coffee than my chineese green tea, oh and now i can make tea too!
Prima 500g 1,50 gbp how many capsules you can make>? but I prefer loding other coffee machines that make also 3.3 bar, and they have knock off system , left over grains will use for body and face scrub, but all depend on personal needs
Haha. Does seem long winded.
Good job.
Great idea for the milks, I suppose once you've drilled them they can be re used.... you can even put coffee mate in them.
Wonder if Baileys would work?
Wouldn’t it be easier to put the kettle on??
The bit where he's rinsing and filling the pods is ASMR lol
Good work ! Thanks.
