46/50. Some spoilers below for those who have not taken the quiz. 1. I would have guessed that ballet originated in Russia. 2. I thought chess was invented in Persia. The words chess and checkmate are both derived from Persian. 3. The Olympics really is held every 2 years since 1992 (barring global emergencies such as pandemics). It just alternates between the winter and summer versions. Each version is held every 4 years, yes, but normally only 2 years pass from, say, one summer Olympics and the following Winter Olympics. 4. I thought squid ink was traditionally used for black calligraphy ink in Japan since, after all, they do eat a lot of squid products there. These were the four I got wrong. I did get all others correct. Thanks once again Ben for making a new quiz.
These quizzes show me how much knowledge I retain. I actually scored 50/50 so I'm chuffed. I guessed two of them, one of which was the ballet question.
48/50 - got numbers 43 & 48 wrong. Good range of questions again, thanks. Point of order on Q9 though - the Olympics are technically held every 2 years (actually closer to 1.5 and 2.5 year gaps), as you didn't specify Winter or Summer version.
Glad you enjoyed the selection. Thanks for playing. Yes, I could have made that Olympic one clearer. But could argue that each of those is still held every four years. The International Olympic Committee themselves states they are held every four years. Ref olympics.com/ioc/faq/history-and-origin-of-the-games/why-are-the-olympic-games-held-every-four-years
47/50 . Isaac newton was known for laws of motion, and calculus, and other scientific discoveries. I took the Olympic question to mean the summer games.
47/50 with the options; 38/50 without. Not sure about the Q14 bonus but I'll try Abraham Lincoln; the paradox question was the first to catch me out (got confused and changed away from the right answer); and I'll go for gravity for the Q50 bonus.
Awesome. The Q14 wasn't meant as a bonus question, more that I can't find a definite answer to that question and was wondering if anyone knows. 😁 Glad you had a great score. Thanks for playing
@@Quizzes4U Oh right. 😅 No I don't know, something rings a bell for having heard Lincoln at some point, but yeah, just a guess. Could be a popular misconception anyway.

@@Quizzes4U I imagine that's a great part of making the quizzes! Learning new things. I had ballet in the court of Louis XIV... and I'm Italian! Cheers
46/50. I got the ballet, pi, fruit and nanometer questions wrong. I thought the ink question was tricky. I would have gone for squid ink but luckily just remembered it was soot.
45/50 - I read somewhere that it was George W H Bush who first pardoned a turkey and Newton discovered gravity and the laws of motion, I think - warmest thanks for a brilliant quiz, Ben - wishing you a lovely weekend! 🙂
48/50 1st of my incorrect answers was the chess question. I thought China and the answer was India. Thanks for uploading Ben. And the bonus I'll try Gravity. Looking forward to the next G K Quiz 😮.
62 year old musician, missed 4: Italy (I thought Russia), 1990s (I thought Apartheid ended in the 1980s) Durian (I thought Rambutan) and Soot (I thought Coal). Oh well, better luck next time!
If you add a second or two and have the screen be interactive then it could keep score, just like the video games... The Q about the Olympics is right and wrong. Since they split the summer and winter games. Rotating every 2 years then answer is 2 year but if measure one type of games to next same type of games then it is 4 years!!!

Hi Ben. According to the White House’s website the Turkey pardoning began with George W H Bush. He pardoned Tom Turkey who was given to a nearby children’s farm. I thought I’d do better on my painkillers tonight but apparently not. I got 32. The main thing is I had so much fun. Are you doing a special Christmas one? I really hope so and good luck with the website xx
Thanks for the info. Not sure if I will get time to do a Christmas special, as I will be travelling a lot around that time this year. But it's a great idea, so if I get the time to put something special together, I will.
According to history, though, you can go one of two ways with the answer to this question. It is said that Lincoln "pardoned" a turkey to please his young son who had become friendly with the bird, but that wasn't anything official in his role as president. It was just a dad thing, but he was the first president to do it in recorded history. As far as a national thing, it is said that Harry Truman started the official tradition of a president doing it.

When it comes to follow up comments, such as when you reply to my comment or someone else comment, then RUclips doesn't notify me of those, and I would have to go through all the videos to see them. I was adamant that Chess was invented in Persia. Maybe though the Iranian who taught me how to play was being biased. Good call on number 3
I also thought the skuid ink answer was wrong.
And "shach-mat' means "king [is] dead" in, well, basically all semetic languages.
Fun and educational! From a teacher, that's about the best combo out there. Thanks!
Wow, thanks for that 😁
38/50. Gravity for the last bonus.
