I'm quite amazed how much negativity there is in this comment section. I think a lot of those photos came out great. It seems like a lot of 35 mm and medium format photographers are here who don't understand the purpose of instant photography. I'll definitely be getting one of these cameras.
The fatal flaw with NONS cameras is that they insist on using 35mm lenses instead of medium format. I think a lot of detail is being lost because of that magnifying lens they've put in this new version of the camera, which apparently isn't removable.
I’m glad I saw this comment because now I’m definitely not buying one. I didn’t even think about this. I was more focused on the price of the body alone, aside from what I wanted to do which was instax square mono which is at $2/shot. That’s a $20 bill for every 10 shots. Quickly you’re at $200 after having lots of fun and hitting your 100th shot. Very expensive for something that’s gimmicky and a hobby. Then you realize nearly a grand into it (between camera and 100 photos) that it’s medium format but built wrong and all those shots could have looked better.
Don’t care this is still fantastic and million times better then anything else you can buy off the shelf. Nobody else makes an instant camera that even comes close to this quality and really the price ain’t that bad.
If Instax had a Tungsten white balance film you could put a Tungsten filter on the lens, like a Tiffen 85B, and drop the brightness of the sky since it cuts blue light.
Thanks for this review. Its an interesting concept. You would think that having a decent metering system would be possible at that price point however. So far the best combo for me is a regular camera or phone combined with a Instax Printer. Not the same experience for sure but waaaaay more reliable.
Inevitably in strong contrasty light you have to meter for shadows otherwise you lose so much of your subject. Instax is perfect when there's soft even lighting
No way, I missed the pleasure of having a Polaroid back on my Medium Format camera, and Pull, and PEEL, COM ON!! FUJI BRING BACK FP100 Color, and FP3000 B/W film, OR? Tell those people in Holland to Start Making Polaroid 669, and 667, and 4x5 Single Instant Film Geez, What language are they are not getting. I am not putting my resources to get this NON's Camera with my gear... Also I am very happy with using the Lomo Square Instant Camera, THANK YOU LOMOGRAPHY!!!!
So, this has a leaf shutter inside and takes 35mm lenses, but shoots on 6x6 paper. Isn't it going to be better if you adapt a medium format lens? Like Mamiya 645 ones...?
Ahaaa there is a cheap and crappy tele converter that stretches the image from 35mm to medium format size in the mount. For me - it is a waste of film. You better get an old TLR with adapter for polaroid paper.
Thanks for this. Looks like they have the film plane wrong. There's no sharpness. The quality coming out of these is very sub part for what these vintage lenses should produce. A cheap instax square camera produced better than this and the Lomography Wide format 4x5 back is on another universe to this. Neat idea, loaded with artifacts and blur and vignette still.
I'd like it without the tele converter and just slap on some of my medium format lenses. I don't like the idea of using 35mm lenses on a medium format camera. If they make that I want one.
Thanks so much for your detailed review. I am weighing all options for instant film. Ideally, Fuji would reintroduce their tear apart film. If not, I am looking at Instax wide options. I have a variety of medium format cameras, some will take an instax back or the LOMO Graflex back for large format.
I own this camera and very much like it- room for improvement in the future yes but it is quite nice for what it is. On the 17mm- which I am very interested in- where there any focus issues or vignetting issues- Thanks!
Beautifully designed and love the use of lenses but for the end results there ARE rivals in the Instax range. For the price you may as well pony up the extra cash for MiNT's offerings which offer purpose built performance with the medium, and for far less you can look at Lomography's offerings for Instax. As someone who owns all the Lomography instax cameras they are challenging as well but when you nail it, they look great (In particular the Lomography Square Glass, though also the most challenging to work with). I only have the MiNT TL70 for normal Instax but the level of control and precision on that camera produces some killer results. Then you have Fujifilm cameras themselves which are often uninspiring but at least are consistent, my 500AF being the most reliable performer of all my cameras while also being the most goofy looking. I really want to like this camera, love the design and would love to use some of my favorite vintage lenses, but for the money I'd rather just buy more instax packs and run them through the cameras I already have.
@@SamCyanide Moot point as the MiNT cameras offer vastly better quality of photos than this, regardless what lens is mounted. What's the point of interchangeable lenses when the body itself can't make use of them properly? I admire the concept and the craftsmanship, don't get me wrong, I WANT it to work, but the results I've seen here and in other reviews just make it a very expensive gimmick even when compared to a basic Instax SQ1
This is rad. I love shooting instant pack film on my Polaroid 600SE, but that's too expensive now. I want to have the 600SE converted to use Instax Wide film, but that conversion is very expensive. This camera is cheaper than that conversion, and I could shoot instant film AND use my huge collection of vintage lenses.
I'm quite new to insta photography I don't get how would be possible to convert a polaroid 600 to use Instax wide film could you explain more or share some link please?
Check out zluxtech’s instax wide back for the Mamiya Press. They may be able to print one that works on the goose. Been using one on a Universal with excellent results
Have u tride the mini instax evo the shots from if look amazing and i can print photes from your phone with it. Also highly recommend the paper shoot camera its a digital camera trying rilly hard to act and look like a film camera i got one expecting to hate it but i love and it's replaced all my film pointe n shoots
Maybe your camera/instant film is picking up ghosts or spirits? It is getting near halloween. It would be a fun halloween trick to pre-take a photo, but don't eject. then at a party, take another over it and show the resulting "ghost" on the image. thanks.
Well maybe if they reduced it to $200 and under I would think about it. They need a higher production yield for that to happen. I at least want this one, the old one was pretty crap.
…it’s not your fault, Matt,,I’ve seen you try all the possibilities,,your subject is fine,, but the result is always bad,,dynamic range is so bad, either it is over or under exposed,,my worry is it is possible the film you used was expired
In this modern World here perfection is the ultimate gold....this camera almost does the oposite !! 😅 Too "artistique" for my taste...and with expensive film it's even harder to felt in love...sorry!!! 🥲

1000% the reason I don’t have one, idiotic to have built in permanent optics

Happy birthday to your mom! Living the good life drinking wine with family on a boat outing.

This is interesting, but why don't they use medium format lenses? Like from a Pentacon Six or Kiev 88

How did it perform on wider apatures?
Cool camera but yes, a bit pricey!
it's 800 iso film, so if you want to open to 1.8 or 1.4 you need to be in a darker setting than i was
Aha!
I just remembered I have no clue about shooting film. 😅
Have you tried an external light meter for exposure

Glad you enjoyed it!
Worth it or are the results too mixed / challenging?
now the problem is what works with fuji insta haha. great review
Merci pour ces beaux paysages Agenvins !

Sad that there's no Minolta option for the lens mount.

How is it with longer lenses for portraits?
What kind of lense did you use on the boat for instance at 6:34? So beautiful dreamy bokeh!!
A projector lens I will review soon
Le boîtier est principalement composé de métal ou de plastique ?
Metal et un peu de plastique pour la porte arrière
Great video 👏👏👏, big love from Kurdistan ❤
Square instax format is 62x62mm, how can 35mm lenses cover this much area?
It would be grate if fujifilm made a gfx camera with a removable back and sold an instax back
Nice!
Ordered 500 sheets mini yesterday
What were the lenses ?
Those double exposure shots look fantastic!
Glad you like them!
Ce n'est pas pour moi... Je reste avec mon Sony A7 I :) Mais j'apprécie la présentation et le partage de ton expérience !
Use your Sony then print on instax printer for almost instant prints.

I've gotta stop watching these videos, it's putting my bank account in danger.
6:00 Bouchemaine ?
Bravo !
Lack of competition means that the instax paper technology hadn't change much. It lacks of dynamic range and accurate colors.
You'd look a proper NONS carrying that around ....
I think the yellow filter is meant for black and white Instax films.

Really wish they had chosen a different name.
Wouldn't want to tell anyone I had a nonce camera.
All the photos seem to be a little out of focus, although good lenses have been used. Why is that?
Part might be the film... Instax can be a lot of fun, but it doesn't resolve a lot of detail.
600 balles??? autant acheter un rolleiflex a ce prix
Want !

For 500$ i would rather have 2 used instax cameras with mini/wide film and 400$ worth of film

Is that a Wood Handle on a plastic Chassis? Dont Insta Pics fade out anymore? Has a Holga/Lomo look, but those are overpriced plachics too.
I dont think it’s plastic.
Gee, $1 each for blurry photos. Think I'll pass.
Sorry, but I think you should get rid of this camera,,a total waste of film & effort,,,pictures were awful,,really sorrowful!!
