In short: The DC6 crashed and the UN Secretary General was killed and all other people on board, too. The official report on the crash stated that it was an accident, a controlled flight into terrain and a new investigation came to the same result. But there´re also valide sources, including some US intelligence sources, who´re stating that the plane was shooted down - and the unanswered question is: by whom and why?
So in fact it´s an open case even 60 years later.

On their way to the runway, there was a hill that blocks their path, too bad that wasn't included in their charts. And because the pilots were focusing on finding the runway, they failed to noticed that they're too low and crashed.

By my knowledge (correct me if Im wrong) They found gunshot wounds in the bodyguards, beleived to be from when there bullets detonated in the fire, however tests proved that bullets detonated in a fire could not penetrate a body, they also found a hole in harmaskjolds head, but that was never confirmed to be a bullet. The CIA , MI5 and TRC got involved, with the TRC in possesion of a letter saying there was a bomb on the landing gear, supposed to detonate when the landing geae was lowered.

2 different records for "i shoot it" radio call from another plane for the same time. Usa regretted giving this records to investigation committee. A few retired cia agent said this records
Bullets on the plane, of course (!) Explosion of bullets of guards because overheat not because attack
Vounded guard, different story, " shooting voices and after than start fire at wing" etc
