I don't have any experience. I was rather just a silent viewer so far, but i think i have the right to say my opinion keeping certain moral standards. I think i saw enough videos so far to tell apart professionals and common civilians from their approach to wildlife and here talking elephants. In my opinion people not only should be more tolerant towards elephants and lions and leopards..rhinoceros...etc -mentioning a few commonly feared ones- because this will imply for a smoother experience, but they should consider that each counteractions will teach these animals something about humans. So probably these elephants will approach the next 'tresspasser' like noisy, annoying, scary monkeys, whose only aim is to force them out from their home. So the more they will meet this experience the deeper their aggressive reaction will be imprinted and it will start a never ending fight between four and two legged. Of course i understand that it's a different matter to view it from the perspective of a local resident and from my perspective with no experience at all. But I'm trying to learn more and more hopefully from the right sources. I wish i could help you both people and elephants disregarding to who has more options, or who has the upper hand because we all know that at some places in the world life is easier than at others, so we can't treat a human contra wildlife relationship on the same page in black and white equally around the world. But i think you all need to understand that the forest really has an other end too and there is not only your side. And over the other end there is no more forest for the elephants and i believe the elephants themselves acknowledge this as well; most probably with a fair amount of stress. So unless you can make room for an elephant to sit down at your table to share breakfast and can make sure they have a safe place to sleep at, please don't push your horns and don't scare them, but be a little more patient. The forest needs them and they need to exist somewhere. With all respect

gopinathpri R Gavi is a small village in pathanamthitta district kerala. It is situated at pathanamthitta to kumili route. At gavi there is a forest station meusium and a boating facility.. If you want to visit there you must take pass online from kerala government tour package websites are available. Otherwise you cant enjoy these in gavi. If u r not able to buy tickets there is no problem. You can enjoy travel through forest from pathanamthitta to kumili via gavi. there is no homestay and hotels in gavi. If u want any food you must take food. There is a small teashop near gavi meusium.. If you want any food you can contact the houseowner. I go to gavi last december. This is my experience. You cant see viewpoint or anyother destinations at gavi. But ypu can enjoy your travel through thick forest. I do not take any pass. I took ksrtc bus from pathanamthitta at morning 6. 30 and reached gavi at 11. 30. There is a place named kochupampa near 10 km back from gavi. There ypu can enjoy boating. If u want to go to gavi by private vehicle please dont go in car. You can go with SUV or jeep otherwise damage will occurs mayb. If u are going through private vehicle you must reach angamuzhy forest range station before 6 30 morng. Only 10 or max 30 vehicles can go to gavi.. You must have pass of office. Dont allow plastics liquor or cigaretes. Keep nature alive.thanks
Can't even shoot a video properly without shaking. Roaring the engine & intimidating the little elephants & driving them deep inside the forests. Attach a silencer to your engine & learn to be polite to those giants who can simply crush you. They'll remember you & wait for you even when they grow up to be huge. Elephant never forgets.

Based on the video, I can tell this group passengers were trying to continue on their way past the elephants. They were not trying to annoy the elephants, like many of you thought. A single road on top of a mountain, with an elephant in your way... the best tactic would be to scare them off the road (anywhere but the road). One can say the elephant is in its habitat, but it stands on a road meant for vehicles to pass by. Time seems to be of importance for these people.

What if elephants cross our paths in the road because we are on their way, scaring us by roaring at us & chasing us when we are with children ? Your defense of your fellow Keralites is very poor. those who suggesting here they should have to this they should have to done this.. firstly i would like to all of those to try imagine urself in similar situation.. its always easy to suggest but real situation is totally different to that of imaginary... they were driving on a very curved and narrow road at a mounatain suppose if they did nothing and elephant charges at him then it was not possible to drive backward on such kind of road... what they did was absolutely fine but they should have to be a bit patient and dont have to unneceraly accelerate the engine instead they can wait to pass them by... but i can undrstnd the thrill to see a wild animal in its natural habitat sometimes put ourselves in danger
Suicidal adventure by brainless drivers who have over confidence in their Painted tin called a Car. One small elephant can overturn that metal box and make it their coffin. Single lane traffic road with many bends and sharp turns both sides embankments or valleys,which will not make even escape a possibility. Some fools said, the drivers are impatient as ot was setting dark. Okay if a bridge was totally damaged and could not cross,whether they would ha e felt different or they would have done similar adventure of driving through flowing river in such hilly tracks?

Gavi is a small village in pathanamthitta district kerala. It is situated at pathanamthitta to kumili route. At gavi there is a forest station meusium and a boating facility.. If you want to visit there you must take pass online from kerala government tour package websites are available. Otherwise you cant enjoy these in gavi. If u r not able to buy tickets there is no problem. You can enjoy travel through forest from pathanamthitta to kumili via gavi. there is no homestay and hotels in gavi. If u want any food you must take food. There is a small teashop near gavi meusium.. If you want any food you can contact the houseowner. I go to gavi last december. This is my experience. You cant see viewpoint or anyother destinations at gavi. But ypu can enjoy your travel through thick forest. I do not take any pass. I took ksrtc bus from pathanamthitta at morning 6. 30 and reached gavi at 11. 30.
There is a place named kochupampa near 10 km back from gavi. There ypu can enjoy boating.
If u want to go to gavi by private vehicle please dont go in car. You can go with SUV or jeep otherwise damage will occurs mayb. If u are going through private vehicle you must reach angamuzhy forest range station before 6 30 morng. Only 10 or max 30 vehicles can go to gavi.. You must have pass of office. Dont allow plastics liquor or cigaretes. Keep nature alive.thanks

I am living not far from this place .its the way to scare elephants out of road .if elephant sees u scared it wil not move or may attack .if you go reverse it will ran towards you.so if you want go home .you must make him out of road. Anyway

Based on the video, I can tell this group passengers were trying to continue on their way past the elephants. They were not trying to annoy the elephants, like many of you thought. A single road on top of a mountain, with an elephant in your way... the best tactic would be to scare them off the road (anywhere but the road). One can say the elephant is in its habitat, but it stands on a road meant for vehicles to pass by. Time seems to be of importance for these people.
+Joseph Puthumana It is Gavi national park in Kerala. National parks are meant for animals. People go there to spend their vacations & have fun. What if elephants cross our paths in the road because we are on their way, scaring us by roaring at us & chasing us when we are with children ? Your defense of your fellow Keralites is very poor. BTW, I'm also from Kerala & have grown up seeing elephants in our temple premises & on the roads.

those who suggesting here they should have to this they should have to done this.. firstly i would like to all of those to try imagine urself in similar situation.. its always easy to suggest but real situation is totally different to that of imaginary... they were driving on a very curved and narrow road at a mounatain suppose if they did nothing and elephant charges at him then it was not possible to drive backward on such kind of road... what they did was absolutely fine but they should have to be a bit patient and dont have to unneceraly accelerate the engine instead they can wait to pass them by... but i can undrstnd the thrill to see a wild animal in its natural habitat sometimes put ourselves in danger

Then only you can enjoy the beauty of this big animal.If the elephant comes near you to attack then you can make sound. Elephant will watch you and make sure we are not going to make any harm to them and to its babies and it will move away from the road. Elephants normally cross the roads here peopel are making them scared that is why they run through the road.
