I get it that some people might find this format annoying but that's actually the best type of video about photography I like to watch! Just because of the fact that we get to know how you work! Its also interesting to see how your method changes compared to other photographers! Kiss from Switzerland! (The country people usually mix with yours😂)

Thanks to you, I'm now always on the lookout for little critters. I actually captured a small beetle the other day, but it freaked me out when it started flying around my room. I had to release it onto the nearest tree. I didn't know they are sensitive to light; when I turned on the LED light, it moved away. I apologized after releasing it. 😋
I haven’t checked yet if you’ve done this more recently, but this was a great way to start my work day, as well as picking up a few tips along the way. Thanks!
Hey Micael, in my experience with mosquito repellent is that everything flees from me. I can't really get any good shots. I don't know if I'm just imagining it, but the attempts I made with it were all bad. Love this style of video. Nice to see someone else and his own technique.
Hey Micael, just wanted to thank you for sharing your affiliate links for Venus Optics, I have just bought my first dedicated Macro lens through your link and discount code. I bought the Laowa 60mm f2.8 2x ultra macro lens, and I cant wait for it to arrive and start recording video's with it, A huge thank you and hi from the UK 😃
I just got into macro photography and have been binging your videos nonstop!! One question I have is what diffuser would you recommend for a wireless flash?
You have a much steadier hand than I do. You say that it makes little difference having to use a slow shutter with flash. When I hold the camera with one hand and twist a branch with another and try to place exact manual focus on the tiny eye of an insect I tend to get motion blur on specular highlights from shiny parts of insects (ants really are highly polished). That ruins the image. I can live with specular dots but comma shaped bright lines will not do. With two hands on camera, I am more steady but, where I live, wind is a problem. Two hands on camera, one on light, one on branch. I am not an octopus.
Hi Micael. Thanks for another very informative and interesting video! Maybe I missed it, but what is that spherical diffuser you have there on the Godox TT685 flash?
Love the video. Looking to get on to macro with my A7rv. Bought an extension tube set and have the same Flash as you. I was planning on using my 24-70 2.8 or would I be better off with a dedicated macro lens? Thanks
Picaridin insect repellent; Won't melt plastic like Deet and less toxic. In addition, tight weave long clothing so repellent only needed on face and maybe hands.
Ive just started in macro photography. Im having a problem when i set my camera to 1/200 shutter ,f:8 ,and iso 100 my screen is very dark. What am i doing wrong
@Micael Widell on Photography thanks for replying ill have a look in my camera settings its the canon m50 im starting with .have you covered it in a video i could watch thanks.
@@kennyk4134 I see, I thought you were getting dark images. In Sony, the screen automatically brightens up if a flashgun is equipped. Try looking for Canon users.
Hi Micael, only just seen this video, I get what you are trying to do....but walking around with the camera pointed to the ground and waving around made me have a nausea and dizzy feeling, your videos don't usually have that effect on me 🙂

Nice and relaxing to watch with half an eye while working!

Hi Micael,
Thank you very much for your wonderful videos! I just bought a lens & flash on your recommendation & can't wait to visit my tiny neighbors!
Incredible format!
Smidge is an excellent insect repellent!
1:36:05 yeah, it is an hoverfly. Probably an Eristalis (genus)

Very interesting video thanks. You must have incredibly steady hands.🍷
Omg, finallyyyyyyy :))))))
Wish my hands were steady enough to take pictures one handed iike that.

I personally prefer this diffuser for off camera flash: ruclips.net/video/oNJvuP3m9ug/видео.html
Could you consider testing the Neewer Z2 s as a macro flash?
Any reason u use this ball diffuser over other diffusers? Great Video😊
I like to use it sometimes to get more variation in the angle of the light
@@MicaelWidell OK:)

Search my name and “globe diffuser” to learn more!
❤️❤️❤️
Why such a low shutterspeed with a flash?
The flash will freeze the action anyway so shutter speed doesn't matter that much
🙌🙌
vad heter den där vita plattan du har framför blixten ?
diffuser/diffusor. Jag har gjort flera videos om såna som du kan söka fram

You can begin with extension tubes and if you still love macro after a few sessions I recommend that you get a good macro lens.
@@MicaelWidell The one that you're using?
My current favorite for Sony full fame is the Laowa 85mm
1:40:54 that looks like a mite. Maybe a parasite - or it just uses the bug as a transportation device...
Hello sir, whicch will be the best lens for sony a7 iii
You mean macro lens? I would look at the Laowa 90mm or 85mm

Thank you for the suggestion! Never felt comfortable with using DEET, because of health concerns.

Yes you need to change a setting in the camera. In Sony it is called “setting effect: off” but it’s called other things in other cameras.
@Micael Widell on Photography thanks for replying ill have a look in my camera settings its the canon m50 im starting with .have you covered it in a video i could watch thanks.
At true macro magnifications, that is a very dark exposure. That's why flashguns are needed.
@Morning Driftwood i have a flashgun its just hard to see as the screen is so dark at the low iso .
