I like viewfinders personally so I would choose the siii but there's so much choice with sony it's confusing - i was watching a review for a7rv and it seems like even better for hybrid use compare with a7iv.
My colleague picked up an A7IV recently with a top handle and I was blown away at how good it was. I agree the fx3 is amazing but not worth it for regular social media type of content.
I get what you are saying but it's like saying a sports car is an awesome car for racing but I don't recommend it for regular drivers. The fx3 is designed for high end video work for people with the budget to spend on it so of course youtube vloggers and casual content creators shouldn't buy it. But the fx3 is amazing at what it was designed for (which you rightfully say in your conclusion).

Now I just need to get out, practice and learn how to get more from it's capabilities. I know enough to realise that good video is a lot more than decent cameras and lenses. I still have much to learn but don't feel my FX3 will be the limiting factor.
That's great to hear. And absolutely agree, I feel like there's so much I need to improve and learn before ever hitting any kind of limitations with the current crop of cameras we have available to us.
The fx3 for me is amalgamation of the best a video camera can be, that can do everything, but a price that is still reachable and not unrealistic for most people.

Do you think it's better to shoot in slog3 vs s-cinetone, like especially if you're just gonna end up color grading slog3 to look like s-cinetone in the first place?
Personally slog3 is going to give you more dynamic range and more flexibility in post but we use s-cinetone a lot for videos that need a fast turn around. S cinetone is also easier for us when we have less control of lighting.
Its a shame sony won't update the firmware for the sony A7siii, to allow uploading custom LUTS.. The as7iii I have to use a monitor attached to my gimbal for real estate videos, which is such a pain... The Gamma display assist is not great on the a7siii
@@RudyVisuals focus breathing compensation and 4kdci.... but I would argue that having the ability to add personal luts is 10x more functional then 4kdci on a camera like the a7siii.. You buy a camera like this to shot log in most cases ... I don't get why they didn't make the updates equal to the FX3
I got an iphone 15 recently and it shoots video so well and a fraction of the price of cameras like this. With AI editing and phone cameras, videographers/video editors might go extinct in the future!
Unless iphones somehow develop much bigger sensors, and the person holding it is willing to go to film school and spend 1000s of hours learning to shoot and edit, I'm pretty sure we'll be okay from extinction :)

fx3 is the perfect middle ground between siii and fx6.
I watch some comparison videos with fx6 and fx3 for me is still the better choice when you factor in price to performance.

FX3 is like a camera we wouldn't think would be possible like 10 years ago. An incredible piece of tech.

Did you use a camera cover for the color run event? Be careful, that can get into the vents and really damage your camera.
I'll be honest, I used a makeshift one using a couple of plastic shopping bags, but it worked :D
I hear the fx3 is Netflix approved. How would they know the difference between that and the a7 S3?

That's a great price honestly, there's so many other factors to consider though. It really just depends on the individual's needs.

It looks TASTY and even though it seems to have great video spec like 6k, it still seems geared more for photography imo. That price tag as well!!

There was a new firmware update announced recently for the siii I think but no idea what's in it? I need to check that out.
