    Vain "No Respect" This band escaped me during my teen years in the 80s. I found Davy Vain and the boys album "No Respect" (and "new" original female lead guitarist Dylana....fans of Vain know what I am trying to convey) a few months ago. Killer, killer album from start to finish. If you have not ever heard or listened to this album, I promise that you will not be disappointed. Jake E. Lee's band Badlands debut is killer.....Faster Pussycat debut is one of my favorite albums of all time....oozes the sleeze of the Sunset Strip. For the record, like Eddie Trunk, I cannot stand the term Hair Metal.....I am starting a movement to label 80s glam or so called hair metal as Sunset Strip metal. LA Guns debut has an incredibly unique sound...the production is extremely raw and heavy. Nevertheless, good list bro!

      It’s kinda hard with some bands... I go back and forth with LA Guns but decided to include them anyways... Skid Row is definitely on the heavier side but for their first album at least I’ve always called it Glam Metal... then there’s a band like Kingdom Come, if I was counting their debut it would’ve been 2nd on the list but I didn’t really feel right about calling it Glam haha... and thanks!

    • @noinim
      @noinim 3 года назад

      Agreed about GNR. This is why I prefer to use the tag "sleaze" rock/metal nowadays. Sure, we didn't use it back in the 80s/90s but it really is the best descriptor for this style of music. So I use both tags interchangeably BECAUSE I'M OLD. I'm putting Smashed Gladys somewhere near the top of my list. RIP Sally Cato!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @noinim
      @noinim 3 года назад +1

      @@brycetalksmetal That Kingdom Come debut is aces across the board! I'd put it with these bands when necessary because it fits. While I get that they're more melodic, the look and lyrics are still there, and it's very much hard rock. I'd throw their second album aboard too if doing a more expansive list.

    Cool list. I have every record on the list and honorable mention on vinyl (OG pressings) except Firehouse and White Lion. Firehouse desperately needs a vinyl reissue, near impossible to find an OG copy. Man I just laugh now anytime disses Winger or glam in general because the people that say stuff like that are just total bores, and it just means more glam LPs for me. Glam is fun as hell, it’s great music with stellar musicians; and it’s my favorite genre to collect too. Shotgun Messiah’s second LP is awesome. Do you have any Lillian Axe?

    • @Flannelsurfer

      BryceTalksMetal nice, I’ll check that video out too. Lillian Axe is the most underrated band of that era in my opinion, not super glammy, just killer melodic hard rock with awesome songwriting, and overflowing with great hooks. Their first, second, and fourth albums (S/T, Love & War, and Psychoschizophrenia respectively) are all must-haves, but their third LP Poetic Justice is a MAJOR hidden gem. The artwork is kind of silly (old lady with a battle axe) but that album is stellar song-after-stellar song, with the first side being completely untouchable. I think Poetic Justice would have been huge had it come out in 1989 instead of 1992; they just peaked a little too late. Definitely a Top 5 glam era LP for me, and I am a big cheerleader for Lillian Axe (obviously.) They are still active with an album due this year.

      I know the producer. He did some of the Jani Lane solo stuff (really good) - that 2nd Wildside, not so much. Hey you reviewed Dave & Show N Tell, can we send you a tape to review? We are melodic Heavy Metal.

    LA Guns is always underrated. Went to see Sabastian Bach a few years ago. We walked out after about the fourth song. He was fucking horrible.

    To fast for love !! Number one. Shout at the devil. Great!! But after that. Especially theatre of pain was the big disappointment of the tenth grade. Haha. I was like I’m done with them.

    Slave to the Grind is easily the best Skid Row album. Not even close. The debut was fine but way too catered to the Mtv sound.

    Invasion of Your Privacy is better than Out Of The Cellar! I have them both on vinyl. IMO Shout At The Devil tops both of them!
    Have the original with the GOOD art and better sounding Elektra release. I also have the remastered shitty sounding Motley Records re-issue. The inside art looks like someone pissed on the originals before they scanned them & the cheap packaging really devalues the legacy of the album. Boo to whoever signed off on the distribution of this full on craporama representation of one of the best metal albums of all time!

      These days I go back and forth between Invasion & Cellar, but years ago I shared the same belief.
