Just when I think these videos can't bring me any more value, you GO AHEAD AND PRESENT A SOLUTION TO THE EXACT THING I'M WRESTLING WITH THAT'S BEEN DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!
Also, I'm gonna try that slow metronome thing to work on transitioning chord changes - that looks to be useful as well!
    Thanks Bob!

These are awesome, Bob! I love the structure of the videos. Also as a fellow Daddy-musician I appreciate the struggle with the car seat, practice discussion and other tips...very fun

Hi Bob, thanks for your videos, huge fan...I have been a professional clarinet player for 32 years, and for the last three I have been trying to learn the jazz language and tenor sax together. Also a father and husband, I find it difficult sometimes to get my clarinet and saxophone practice done. Like every serious musician I have been trying out different practicing ideas and keeping the ones that work for me. Here is an idea related to this video: even if I know I will be able to practice only for, say 30 minutes, every practicing segment is still divided approximately in three parts: first one sound (mostly long tones...), second technique (scales, arpeggios...) and third music. During long difficult periods (kids sicknesses etc) this idea has helped me much in keeping fit and motivated no matter what. Keep up the great work, you sound amazing, I love your natural attitude, it feels real, honest and it is very helpful to other musicians.

I stumbled upon this channel and have been watching the videos in random order but MAN all of these videos are great! Solid advice overall! These are concepts that I practice and advise. I love it! It's helped me! I'm going to the beginning and watching all the way through! Thanks, Bob!

LOVE the practice hack advise !!
We tend to look at EVERYTHING that needs to get done in all sections of our immediate and upcoming life, especially me, and then go on to procrastinate and let these things weigh and slow our growth because the tasks we seek now seem to great.
The practice hack is the reassurance of organization in tackling our life tasks one step at a time.
    Thanks !
ps I was there with some friends for the Blue Whale recordings and THAT was a night to remember!

Cheers for the heads up on the pomodoro technique Bob. Seems like a good way to get yourself focused, and I know that is something I can struggle with.

Just learned of the pomodoro technique in a courses learning course. Awesome that you use it. I need to get more focused time In. I'm nowhere near where I want to be yet... Just started playing sax a month now switching over from trumpet but I think it's time to hone in on those areas I see myself being very weak in. Thanks for the reminder.

you most likely have a multitude of backing track programs. But on any apple device "iReal" helps a lot. Sometimes instead of just improv over a met I will use iReal to take the drums out of a backing me track and try to find time with just chords and basslines

Also, last night I heard Dave Liebman, Adam Nussbaum and and Steve Swallow live in Berlin, Dave is now 70 years old and more motivated than most people a third his age. Talk about motivation!!!

I worked out that technique myself a few years ago finding I was more productive and moved on rather than getting stuck. I have now seen it mentioned everywhere. There is a theory our brains switch off after around 15 minutes input. I split an hour into four 15 minute sessions...so in an hour I actually focus on a lot..I did use my phone but that was distracting so I use a cooking timer nowadays and keep away from technology...:-)...great input...

What was that instrument you were jamming on at the end? I'm not very well versed in the brass family. It sounded lovely though! It reminded me of Strange Meadow Lark :)

Okay, yes Bob. I'm totally with you on the car seat thing. Seriously the most confusing, awkward, painful thing to try and fit into a car EVER! Great vids! :)

+Bob Reynolds I was flustered this morning, instrument in back, and found myself strapping one of our twin babies into our five year old's car seat. Spotted it just before I drove off. Love the vlog btw :-)

I find it interesting as it brings music into real life. If you don't like it then I agree with Bob...look elsewhere...it's this side of his life most of us appreciate. As we all have that balance to deal with. Maybe you don't...
