@@pinkyellowblue007 The strings are the same pitch, that's true, but they are longer and thicker, and go through the bass amp. This does make them sound bassier and punchier.
Its really a power ukelele.

i really like manowar, but i've never understood these "solos" from joey...its always like if he is trying to play random mini solos as fast as he can, but giving a sh*t all the notes that he is missing and making more noise than anything else
obviously he scewd up partly here, but it is mainly about the show. Have you felt it live?
@@KnateKnate yes, many years ago i saw them live and big part of the public start to booing because was only noise...it was the first (and only) time they came to my country and we would prefer to spent that time hearing an actual song rather than hearing joey making distortioned noise
@@cristobalruizsolari I agree 100%. When they came to Portugal ten years ago, Joey started to pull the strings off of his bass and the noise was unbearable. at some point it's just not entertaining or clever or macho or anything.
Don't pretend that guitar solos from many other metal bands are the same sh*t and some worse
I could understand having a piccolo bass to experiment with different sounds on one or two songs, but having it as your main instruments is a strange decision. And reading people comparing him with Geezer Butler or Steve Harris... No. Just no. He may be your favorite songwriter and that's entirely valid, but in order to be on the same level as the best bassists, you have to at least play the same instrument. A regular bass presents a lot of challenges that a piccolo bass simply doesn't.
I don't necessarily think he's cheating or trying to fool anyone. He chose an unusual instrument as his main one and that's ok. But that thing is considerably easier to play than a regular bass.
except for this: Joey's regular bass is not a piccolo. Yes, his instrument has custom features, but it has definitely a regular bass scale lenght
Idk about that. Being a bass player myself and having small hands, fatter fingers, I would have a really difficult time with the string spacing of a piccolo bass. Would take a while for me to get used to. Joey also has fairly long fingers, which to me is pretty crazy. It definitely imo, would be a challenge to play his bass
Thank you for taking the time to write brother, but my main base is a standard 34 inch scale. Long scale base with heavy gauge big strings on it. That’s what I play except in my solo I play a piccolo bass which I can promise you is far from an easy instrument to play, but you should make your own experience and buy one and then try it yourself. Its a piccolo bass, but call it that. When I see Bass Solo, I think of Anesthesia, I can hear some bass tones, but more of a Mandolin solo. Incredible regardless what you call it. Lol
Joey said last year that this show was going to be released in Blu-ray/DVD. When will we have some news about It?
On Facebook he recently said it was going to be available here on YT. I got the impression it was going to be the whole show but at the moment he's just releasing parts of it.

What makes it a bass?
Stringed instruments can be set to many different varities of tunings. But if using standard tuning as a reference, the strings on a four string bass are tuned to the same notes as the 6th through 3rd strings on a guitar. (E, A, D, G) Just thicker strings and tuned an octave lower.

DeMaio's Bass is very weird, it looks like a 4-string guitar rather than a normal bass. It has a narrow fingerboard which is probably 32 inch scale, and he uses quite thin strings compared to the normal bass strings.... Anyone to shed some light?

Good guess however, that’s not the case I’m playing a combination of different scales and a lot of chromatic and passing tones because I’m playing alone I can weave in and out of diminished augmented and altered chords at will.
