Can you imagine how hard it would be to get your hands on one like that in 10 years without robbing banks or selling a lung? It's dang near impossible now
I still have my 65 Fastback, got it 1988 as a high school graduation gift. Dark Metallic green with black pony interior. 351w with AFR heads, All Global West Suspension and Wildwood brakes at all 4. And a 67 Shelby GT 500, purchased in 1986, was my father's. Enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work
At Y'alls gas prices you can't spill a drop!!!!!! Living with my 66 Mustang for almost 50 years now it;s something I've gotten used to. For a REAL thrill fill my 73 Javelin tank....filler is almost level with tank!!! Good stuff as always! Thx
A bit of history if not mentioned yet, that incert was originally used in the 70's to prevent refueling with leaded fuel, the nozzle for leaded fuel was larger in diameter than the unleaded nozzle, and would not fit thru the nozzle hole which in turn would cause the leaded fuel to splash out if attempting to lead fuel a vehicle marked "unleaded fuel only" And that is your 70's dose of trivia for the day
I sure like the looks of your car. Exactly how a Mustang should look. I'm an old man that likes it old school. Well done. And your videos are great too!
That's pretty cool! Wish I had something like that when I had my 67. I used to pull the gas pump rubber back while filling and hope it didn't splash on me when full. It's always cool to hear your car without the typical fart pipe setup.
It's kinda amazing that his car sounds as it does with an X pipe. Usually I hate the sound of an X pipe exhaust. This car I really like. In fact I've never heard a small block Ford sound like this. I'm 62, I been hearing them since this car was new.
I agree, filling up my 63 Cadillac is a pain in the ass, you have to fill her up so slowly... but i never thought of changing the filler neck, have to look into that now :) good job!
I picked up a '64 Ford wagon back in OCt and have been doing the same. All the small fixes make such a huge differenct in the driving experience. Love the channel!
Hey Ben thanks for the information! I have a 67 mustang convertible and it drives me NUTS filling the tank! Maybe something to consider is doing EPAS steering, no hoses, fluids, or special steering racks. I bought a system from a 2009 Prius for $300 including the shaft, motor and module. Works amazing and not a super complicated installation.
Looks similar to the one in my '73 Mach 1. I'll have to check this out. Always for improvements and upgrades to make it better. I also need a new steering box, and I have a small harmonic vibration I haven't found the cause of yet. But that's part of owning a classic car, working on it is half the fun!
That looks like a great upgrade - why has no one done this before!?! Here in Scotland, we don't have petrol pumps that you can lock on, stand and watch while it fills your car - we have to hold the trigger down until it's full! Being a tall, older guy with a bad back, this is torture and I've got to stand at weird angle for the duration of the fill-up, so this looks like a great invention to me!
Same in Australia. It's simply because they can't trust the general public to not be clumsy and have it drop out and spray fuel everywhere. You're not even supposed to be on your phone near the fuel bowser/pump too.
@@cobyfield9237 LOL! It's getting crazy here in this country, but I'm surprised that the USA allows it considering they are the litigation capital of the planet!

Hey love your video, I have the same problem with my 1968 Mustang. I wanted to purchase this gas tube but Dougs Email you left doesn't seem to work? ?? Is there another way I could get ahold of him ??? Thanks for your time TIM
Love the idea but I thought the gas cap was how the tank vents. This is even more critical if it has an EFI upgrade. Would love to install this but I have a dedicated vent system tied in at the filler neck. I made the upgrade when I converted to EFI on my 69 mustang.
Hey! 4Speed channel....since the FItech system works great on your car..will you guys be installing it in the 1960 Starliner??? Just asking......love the channel!!!!
Don't have a problem with this on my 69 I've owned for 30 years. Pump usually clicks off when it nears full. I can overfill if I try to add more but I can do the same with newer cars.
That’s weird cause I can lock the hands free gas pump nozzle on my 70 Z/28 and the handle stops pumping when it senses it full and I have no flap on the tank neck. Maybe a better design from GM.😊 BTW gas won’t affect JB Weld seal.
i really appreciate common-sense solutions to problems like this. why not instead of punching divots just drill holes and spot weld the flap in place? also, someone please save those cars in that shed!
That's awesome, I'll have to do this to my 65. Does it prevent gas from spilling out during hard acceleration? That is an issue I have been trying to figure out how to fix. Thanks for the great content!
Just take the filler neck out of the rear panel. Weld in a plate and smooth it out and paint the panel back the color you had it. Then put the filler cap in the trunk and a vent tube out of the trunk maybe over the axle. Just pay attention while filling your tank as you should anyway, gearhead.
While I'm sure this piece will solve the problem. What I'm going to use on my 1967 Mustang Coupe is make a filler like the Cobra's did back in the 60's with a aluminum pot with the filler neck inside. I've rounded up all of the parts now I just need to put it in the car.
I did the borgeson upgrade this last winter on my 65 which had the original one pinky leaky ps. I absolutely love it the upgrade. It’s also nice having a steering box that doesn’t have any play. I now change lanes WHEN I WANT TO lol.
