The Saxons were the Catholics of that time, and sacred music was predominant in their temples, reflecting their spirituality and religious atmosphere. That’s why the sound chosen for this piece follows that line. As for the Vikings, you're absolutely right! They had a musical tradition more focused on war drums, and I even have Viking-style war drum music in my repertoire. Thank you so much for commenting!
