Ok, I'm going to geek out a bit but - here we go. I saw Styx 3 or 4 times in concert in the mid/ 70s and they were fantastic, theatrical, flamboyant and one hell of a live rock show. Lights, lasers, fog, neon and a killer PA that didn't leave your ears ringing. You felt wrung out and exhausted leaving their shows but entirely satisfied that you got your money's worth and more. Dennis DeYoung's immaculate classically inspired keyboards and romantic ballads, Tommy Shaw's powerful voice and guitar playing backed by one of the greatest rhythm sections and an ever evolving song catalogue secured their place as one of rock's best acts. Great "I was there" memories. The Grand Illusion was probably their peak tour and it was very, very good. I always remember in the middle of their show, lights out, glitter ball illuminated from the ceiling and Dennis's keyboard rig slowly rising up and his memorable rendition of "Lady" then merging into "Come Sail Away" and "Fooling Yourself" - goosebumps, dude. I'm done geeking out but this kinda brought it all back!
how did they find those exact, clear tom-tom drums that appear for like, less that 2 seconds??? 🤣 fking brilliant. the level of genius of this is off the charts.
It still is.. you stay stuck in the mud of this time. Music is fine. Like earth will be after humans.. music is just vibrations. It's all good all the same.
im so sorry,,, i laughing like wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much for this,, but if u grew up in the 80's. and watched this vid,,, then watched two very funny dudes acting out a very bad vid of a pop song,, i think u would be dying laughing too,,, its just fucking funny ass hell
tbf he did used to be funny and enjoy himself , before the political nonsense that all of the late night hosts started pumping out because they were told to, wish he'd tell them to gtfo and go back to his original format and just have fun.
@@rottierumbles9451 fair enough. That’s when late night become officially read to me. All of those shows becoming propaganda pieces for the government.
You should never feel that way about any music you've liked. Because it's not the music you don't like.., it's who you were when you liked it. ~Mike Brady.
I’m old and still love them. Most 80’s performances and videos were hilarious & cheesy, but the music was still great, especially compared to most of today’s quick-buck crap.
Lazy/nonexistent acting that completely relies on wardrobe, costuming and set departments to make the video. Isn't funny and doesn't add anything to the original. They have all these resources at their disposal but do not to take advantage of them. Disjunctive editing is frustrating when they should be completely synchronized. Rudd's facial expressions and bodily movements do not resemble, contribute to, or joke on Shaw's in any satisfactory way. The only laugh I got was the watch scene. In short, Left: soul. Right: nothing
Paul Rudd is a national treasure.
What does that even mean? Celebrity worship is the sign of a declining civilization
I hope they never stop making these. When they're Steve Martin and Martin Short's age, I still hope they're making these.
The side by side gives off a “biopic vs original footage” type of vibe I just realized 😭
I love Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon together. 🤣♥️
You got that half right.
Paul Rudd and Richard Ayoade are better.
The side by side is what makes this 😂. Jimmy Fallon and Paul rudd make this video 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.. so fun to watch.

I’m a big Chicago fan. I love the parody and yes, it made me add more Chicago songs to my play list ❤😂
I saw Styx at a horse track. I paid $5 admission to get into the horse track. The concert was free. It was still this awesome.
I was geeking out right along with you. Saw them 6 or seven times during the 70’s. Top 3 live shows for me 1) Queen 2) Rush 3) Styx.
Can't get enough of these two

Wow, Jimmy and Paul have too much time on their hands
How do you only have 62 subs?!? LOL Great job!
Is that the Regal Beagle?
Paul Rudd gives me life
Tommy Shaw is the Rock n Roll SHIT!
Thumbs up and comment only for Paul Rudd! Love this guy!
F**k Fallon though, can't stand him.
Nailed it!
Bravooooo too, Paul and Jimmy 👏👏👏👏
I still think he needs to do Africa with Gerard Butler as David Paich and Jimmy as Bobby Kimball.
Really well done. Must have taken a huge amount of time and effort.
Paul Rudd is priceless! 🤣😂🤣
Hello fellow lover of side by side comparisons.
Best of all time
I was thinking "the one on the left is PERFECT"
Tommy Shaw did not have a beard in the video.
Paul Rudd makes EVERYTHING better 😊
I have NEVER seen these!! 😂
Oh man! He should’ve shaved the beard. It fit way better
These 2 kill me
O mg priceless😂
Love Paul Rudd Why wasn't he on the Friends reunion?????
Probably too busy
Is that ewan mcgregor on the blonde wig?
Yes it is!
omg that was Andy Samberg on the drums!
wheres the rest?
The fact that they tried to disguise a Prophet 6 as an Oberheim OBX made me throw up in my mouth a little.
Still fucking genius!…can I say that Jimmy??
Amaw ka, Paul Rudd.😂😂😂
Im sorry! It is hilarious! 😅
Jimmy looks like the singer from Toro
Why did he have a beard though?
Probably for a movie he's doing, can't shave it mid stream.
When did this song come out? 1981?
🤣🤣🤣
music used to be so good...
It still is.. you stay stuck in the mud of this time. Music is fine. Like earth will be after humans.. music is just vibrations. It's all good all the same.
And you used to be so young
Music back to your roots
I saw Styx on their Kilroy Was Here tour in the 80s. Tommy Shaw was the best!
Around the time late night was taking over completely by the corporate machine ....
Miss comedy

Styx is awesome. Rudd is awesome. Fallon is insufferable.
Even when he's literally doing the same thing as Styx? Bias detected
So hard to put a like on a Jenny Fallon video…Paul made me do it!🥹
but why?
they move WAY TO MUCH ... they make Styxx look like there having to do the pee pee dance...ROFL and the eye movement they do is scary ..ROFL
Why? Lol
I prefer weird al
Why is Jimmy Fallon famous. I’m really curious. He’s got no talent. He was the can’t stop himself from laughing guy on snl.
I love his laughter and he is super talented. Could you do what he does?
@@pamelajordan2890 easily. Yes. I’ve never once seen him do anything unique requiring talent.

Styx is one of the few bands I feel seriously embarrassed about liking when I was young and stupid.
