- Today we will be creating a 26-MAN baseball roster featuring only FELONS & criminals who served HARD TIME (with a couple of exceptions for a DUI & pending case). How good can this team be??? Well, it has HALL OF FAMERS, record holders, big power hitters, elite arms and blazing fast runners! I'd say this PRISON team could win

Willie Mays Hayes: What the hell league you been playing in?
Rick Vaughn: California Penal...
Willie Mays Hayes: Never heard of it. How'd you end up playing there?
Rick Vaughn: Stole a car.
Through 4 states.
4 states, that's alot
Butt-Head: Uh huh huh huh...you said penal...
Great video, I liked how you included a complete bullpen. Most would just put starters.
Thank you!!
Probably would have switched out 1 reliever for a bench player to make it an even 13 and 13 mix, but that is about it.
This team would unironically be a World Series favorite if they played a season with everyone in the primes. Gooden, McLain, and Blue would be easy Cy Young candidates, Urbina and Vasquez were elite closers during their career, and the lineup would be stacked with MVP contenders in Rose, Cepeda, Fisk, Dykstra, Strawberry, and Franco.
Do you remember that Denny McClain was a 30-game winner. There have been 147 individual 30-game-win seasons in baseball history. Most were in the 19th Century. The rest, except for McClain's, all occurred before World War II. McClain won 31 games in 1968.
I don't like reaching to put Carlton Fisk on this roster either. In 150 years of baseball history, there has to have been a catcher capable of handling the pitchers who got in some legal trouble. If he was a weak hitter or didn't play so long, so be it. That's baseball.
Lamar Hoyt and Esteban Loaiza would probably be your best two pitchers. Maybe gooden. Although koosman is solid.
Craig Biggio was an all-star and a silver slugger as a catcher early on in his career. He was also arrested for DUI and was sentenced to community service. It was clearly a mistake which he didn't repeat and he was quite a good person with his work with "the Sunshine Kids". He shouldn't be considered a criminal but since catcher is so hard to find might be worth a mention.
True lacking a backup catcher maybe needed to put catchers as an asterisk and mention them last
Rose played enough catcher in minors to serve as a backup in case of emergency
Catcher : Jim Leyritz? He did time but was cleared but still killed a man while driving drunk.
He should be on here
Yeah, he should be the catcher instead of Fisk for sure.
In addition to Ron LeFlore, the 1970s Tigers had another player they signed after a stint behind bars, Gates Brown. His real first name was William. The Gates name came from someone having opened gates to let him out of jail. He actually joined the team in the 1960s and was Denny McLain's teammate on the 1968 World Series winning team.
Also rookie Ron LeFlore's teammate.
Mel Hall deserves to be on this list!
Did Mel Hall go to prison? But even if he did, he wasn’t that great of a player, was he? This list is for great players.
@@pasleybernhe’s still in prison
@@philrivera1163 lol
@@pasleybern Mel Hall was a very decent player, he was probably better in Cleveland than he was in New York. If not for his antics against Bernie Williams, Mel Hall, probably would’ve still been on a team long enough to win a World Series.
Willie Aikens, Steve Howe.
Interesting because i never knew about Sammy Stewart (heard of him a couple times in 1990s) or Mark Grace (video mentioned Cubs).
I caught a baseball tossed from Vazquez in right field at Minute Maid Park when the Pirates visited on June 26, 2019. This was during batting practice where I was standing in the Budweiser Brew House. Wild to think what would come out a few months later.
Wander really fucked everything up… one time the Rays decide to pay someone over a long time and this happens
So many woman in the world this guy chooses and underage one what a fn idiot.
And it looks Ike the rays are fully blowing it up cuz of it
I wonder did Josh Hamilton do any time in jail?
@@yell0wberry i think this is a technicality I think he got a short sentence diverted to rehab during his many minor league suspensions
I'd rather have coked up Dwight Gooden on my team than 90% of the pitchers today who throw 3 pitches then spend 2 years on the IL.
Strawberry and Gooden are the personification of someone with million dollar talent and a 10 cent head. These guys could have set tons of records and should have moonwalked into the hall of fame. Speaking of another million dollar talent with a 10 cent head, how does Jose Canseco not make it anywhere on this list? He did spend a month in jail as well as several stints on probation where a less famous person would have done real time.
Vida Blue was a lefty pitcher
How could I make that mistake?!
I'm glad you clarified that everyone makes mistakes. Most of these guys had substance abuse problems who were not bad people.
I feel like you could’ve made and all MLB cocaine team video about this.😂
And Ron Washington as their manager
Martin Bergen, who played 337 major league games, 334 at catcher for the Boston Beaneaters (later the Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves) played from 1896-1899 and helped them win 2 NL pennants. K*lled his wife, 2 kids and then himself in 1900, so although he obviously didn't serve prison time, he certainly committed the most egregious crimes of all. I just came across that after watching this video because i seemed to remember that a former mlb player had k*lled someone.
"A hit in 12 consecutive at bats. A feat that feels almost impossible today."
Jose Miranda tied the record 3 months ago
Ron Leflore finished 2nd in stolen bases in 1980. Rickey Henderson had 100 to Leflore's 97
You found the mistake! Well done.. my bad.. insane that 97 steals wouldn't' lead the league!
@@HummBabyBaseball that was the AL, the NL leader was Omar Moreno with 96. Crazy!
they each led their leagues in stolen bases that year. henderson was with the a's in the al, leflore was with the expos in the nl.
@@docadams7099 correct
Prior to watching this video, the thing I remembered most about Pat Jarvis was he gave up Ernie Banks' 500th HR.
Great knowledge! I've seen that home run many times but never realized who the pitcher was.
went to Vega$ Mirage in about 2004. Sat down in their Sportsbook. Looked in the row in front of me. Surprise surprise, who was sitting there ? None other than Pete Rose. LOL
Hey everyone Happy Thursday
I really enjoyed this video!
Thanks!!
I would have tried to find a place for Chad Curtis, John wetland, Mel Hall , Milton Bradley, Jim, Leritz, and Alex Cole
Mel Hall, Julio Machado, Gates Brown.
No Mel Hall? Or the criteria is All-Star?
Don't know if he was much of a player but Mel Hall is very much top tier Hall of Shame.
May I just say, this is one of the best dream rosters ever assembled.
This lineup would contend in any era and probably beat some WS champs of the past!
Hey like this post I was surprised about the catchers have no real felonies only a DUI wow
I thought of a weird list on players for you. A list of baseball players who had more rbis than hits in a single season. Example Max Muncy had 102 hits in 2023 but had 105 rbi. Happens rarely but its rather cool when it does.
Good for Leflore turning his life around and hat's off to Martin for giving him that opportunity. Fun fact about Grace...if he was in a slump he'd try and take home the ugliest girl at the bar, called it a slumpbuster.
Absolutely love your content and brilliant voice. Keep up the good work!
You guys are constantly having such meaningful conversations. Thank you.
Very unique concept!!! Like "The Longest Yard" of sports teams lol
Fascinating, well-researched video
What about Catcher Jim Leyritz? Served time in prison for manslaughter.
Biggest criminal ever is freakin' Angel Hernandez.
The first three pitchers in my opinion should be in HOF!!!
Well done Erik! One of my favorites for sure
Thanks!
I really enjoyed this video.
I would have put Ricky "wild thing" Vaughan in my rotation but good otherwise
I think Steve Howe would have made a good addition to the bullpen
LETS GOOOO
I got to go with Caesar Cedeno
Ah I remember when Mark Grace got arrested. His first appearance back at Chase Field was the Alumni game in 2013, saying in an interview "I'M BAAAACK!"
At 20:54 of the video. It is not Cepada, it is Henry Aaron.
I am aware - it is a defensive highlight. Cepeda makes the catch. Watch again.
Putting Angel in the same thumbnail as Pete Rose is fucking gold 😂😂😂😂😂
Great video... Let's not forget Julio Machado who pitched for the Mets and the Brewers in the early 90's and was convicted for involuntary homicide in Venezuela...
I also thought that Pedro Guerrero did time for drug possession
Great video
I hope you don't mind, I skipped all ads. Good video. Rose could double as manager for the team.
Oh I totally understand! I skip ads too. Thank you!!!
I would have used Billy Martin for that, he also went to jail a few times
Very good video Thanks
He did not mention Jim Rivera who served on a chain gang before making the big leagues. I believe he played for the Chicago White Sox. Nickname was “Jungle Jim.”
Really good idea for a video. Well done
What about Roberto Alomar? With MLB banning him from baseball after some sexual misconduct.
"Everyone makes mistakes... I'm not trying to shame any of these guys".... listen bro, don't be soft on some of these people. While some of these crimes may be minor, for the major ones, indeed, the morons who commit them should be put to shame and be accountable for their actions!
That's it Farhan should sign all of them including the ones who died. Don't you dare Farhan I'm just kidding
You should include owners. Jerry Reinsdorf, for one. Look at where the White Sox are, no thanks to him.
Make a video like this for nfl, nba, and other sports
Wow never knew mark grace had all those DUI’s
Ferguson Jenkins 🧐😐
The Interstate 70 MLB All Star Team
This team would win as many World Series as they wanted.
You left off Fergie Jenkins. There are five Cy Young winners who are also convicted felons: Vida Blue, Lamar Hoyt, Dwight Gooden, Fergie Jenkins, Denny McClain. I don't know much about Hoyt behind baseball, but I am a fan of all the others.
I completely forgot about what Jerry Koosman and Rick Camp did to get jail time.
Good research i was wondering why duke snider didnt realize he dodged jail time and was pardoned
Yeah catchers are angels aren't they lol still object to fisk but get why
How about a manager?
Maury Wills, cocaine addict.
I was expectong César Cedeño 😢
Awesome job.
Thanks!
Wander Franco needs to be on the list
All in all Baseball players are much better individuals then Football or Basketball. You would have no problem in making up all felon teams or maybe even a league in the other sports.
Biggest weakness is depth at catcher and middle infield, poor Carlton Fisk is going to be worn out (though he did catch 150+ with the Red Sox)
Biggest omission: John Wetteland.
Others off the top of my head: C Marty Bergen (Bill Bergen's brother) murder-suicide on his family in 1900. Julio Machado, a reliever with Milwaukee circa 1990 for 2-3 seasons, got into trouble in his home country and got jailed for a long time. Luis Polonia. Len Koenecke, 1930s outfielder, shot and killed fighting with a pilot mid flight. John Glenn an outfielder-1b in the 1870s. After his playing career (i think in 1886) he got lynched for allegedly having sex with a 9 year old girl. I think Mitch Williams got into some trouble post career. Oh and Mel Hall
I was expecting to see Fergie Jenkins, but after further research, I guess he was never convicted
fascinating
Milton Bradley and Steve Howe.
Jim Leyritz for Catcher
He could replace Carlton Fisk.
Joe Foy, 3d base.
I got a catcher for your Rogues Gal lery Jim Leyritz
Too bad you weren't able to include a manager and coaching staff for this team, if there are any people that would qualify for those positions.
does being detained count, if so urias deserves a place
Pretty good video. Just one criticism, can you cut down on the hyperbole’?
wait!
who the hell is the manager???!!!
Cansaco could have been added
This is an interesting theme lol
While he was never convicted, Jeff Reardon is interesting for being the only MLB player to ever be found Not Guilty in felony court by reason of insanity.
Dennys McLain is my favorites 🧐
I have to say, I don't like the idea of putting Carlton Fisk in this lineup. I don't idolize him, but he just doesn't meet the criteria. There must have been a catcher somewhere with the capability of handling the pitchers who got in some trouble with the law. Could have been a 19th Century player, a 20th Century player, a contemporary MLB player or a Negro League player. There had to be someone. Loaded teams have carried catchers who were not good hitters because they could handle the pitchers and had an arm. The absence of Gates Brown is a glaring omission also. Brown was a "people's choice" kind of player. The rosters expand to 40 late in the season. You can expand it a little. And you can find a catcher who did some time too.
This is a technicality but there were 8 mlb players that were prisoners of war during WW2 in Germany. Does that count? I’m not sure if any of them were good enough to make this team.
I wouldn't really count that, because they didn't serve time due to breaking the law.. they were captured serving their country by the enemy.
Did I miss Steve Howe?
Jim Leyritz should have been the catcher... Just sayin
I thought he got acquitted.. but yeah he's had some DUI's too, right?
@@HummBabyBaseball he was acquitted but was guilty of DUI and did spend time behind bars.
@@ksmann1 he should've been the backup catcher maybe
Ferris Fain, Jerry Priddy come to mind.
Both almost made roster. I had Fain but then remembered Matt Bush and thought his story was a little more memorable.
The slammer baby the best of the worse and the worse of the best. Do you like my double talk ?
These guys did NOT make mistakes, they made bad choices. The term “mistake” implies committing an act that they did not know was illegal. There is no way any of these guys could have believed their actions were legal, they just thought they could get away with it.
You are so right about that!
Thank goodness Sergio Mitre didn't make this team. If horrificness of the crime were a qualifier, he might just be the ace of the staff - even as a relief pitcher
I couldn't even put him on this team...I couldn't read the crimes
Darrell Porter did drugs you could have added him
Well the team would shatter records while players would set records for fights, brawls and suspensions 😂🤣
Catchers are usually well behaved because they aren’t of the type that stole Uncle Junior’s car 🚗 😂😂😂😂😂 😲 😲 😲 😲 😲
Mel Hall??????????????
Ball players are just playing a game. Lawmen couldn't hold a glove.
Just no women or children under 18 allowed into the stadium if they’re playing
Putting Carlton Fisk in this company is ludicrous. In fact, I hope he sues.
Catcher Jim Leyritz Served time in prison for manslaughter.
Sues?? What? 😆 it is public info.. I specifically said what his crime was and what he was arrested for. I did not say anything inaccurate. If you don't like him being on the list, fair enough but you hope he sues me??
@@HummBabyBaseball I am not referring to the information you stated. That is factual.
Putting Fisk in the company of felons and felonies as stated in UR video is vastly different and quite irresponsible.
If you knew Fisk and his attitude about being wronged - like the collusion he faced in the early '80's, then you'd realize how he will react upon being put into the context of the degree of hideous crimes other ballplayers have committed.
You were foolish to include him in your 'fun', felon video.
