    It’s pretty good honestly if you’re into tactic gameplay. A lot of the other reviews just have me raising my eyebrows like really? The strategy game is… too HARD for you? :/

      Most reviewers are extremely bad at video games (Which is fine), but they get mad when a strategy game challenges them to... use strategy. I rue the day these "reviewers" start reviewing puzzle games.

    Having finished the game and now playing the hard mode I have to point out some things in addition to the ones you mention.
    A) Weapon durability. Most people seem to completely ignore or be oblivious of the fact that each character can carry many weapons at once and switch on the fly before EVERY attack. By utilizing this system, you can have your good weapons for dealing the heavy damage and switch to a weaker weapon for finishing low health enemies or initiating attack chains. Weapon durability is a NON ISSUE if you actually play the game the way it is meant to be played.
    B) The game needs ZERO grind, if anything doing too many skirmishes will harm your team as your resources deplete so much faster. Skirmishes instead should only be used if you missed items during the story mission, NOT for xp. The best way to get xp is to be good and finish most missions with A rank and the occasional B rank. If you get C ranks you are doing it wrong and your xp will suffer.
    C) It has NOTHING to do with Fire Emblem or any other similar game and I faceplam each time someone compares it to those. The inspiration for this game obviously is games like "Blackguards" and "Othercide", but again most ppl seem oblivious to what this type of game is supposed to be.
    All of the erroneous complaints about "difficulty" and "grind" are from people who simply did not understand what the game is or how it is meant to be played.

    • @feeamerie5011
      @feeamerie5011 11 месяцев назад

    • @NuclearAbyss

      Sounds like people are just mad they cant break the game or grind hrs on end, to make an op character. Im not much of a tactics fan, but from talking to people that like stuff like Fire emblem, Xenoblade etc(gameplay wise). they only like it because they make OP characters that decimate enemies. I'm more willing to give this game a chance.

    • @welkingunther4298
      @welkingunther4298 6 месяцев назад

      I wouldn't go so far as to say it has NOTHING to do with Fire Emblem. They are similar in obvious ways unless you ignore the elephant in the room. But the combat system is also obviously meant to be played completely different. It shouldn't be surprising for newcomers to compare this game to very popular titles like FE, but once you get into the game, it obviously plays different.
      For example, I wouldn't be surprised if FE players tried to approach games like Front Mission similarly, but the good players will change their mindset to adjust for the fact that its ultimately a very different game (hell, even if front mission 3 vs 4 felt like a completely different game to me). The bad players will say the game is too hard and bash it (which is why so many people didn't like 4 in terms of difficulty despite it being objectively a better game and not hard if you utilize all the tactics).

    • @welkingunther4298
      @welkingunther4298 6 месяцев назад

      To be fair, the game isn't really that hard on normal. Don't expect to be really challenged, especially when you get access to the full cast + more skills. And on hard mode, it's arguably easier since you have prior knowledge on how the game works so nothing really is surprising. Game is way more fun and challenging than FE which obviously caters to complete casuals@@NuclearAbyss

    Hey 89. I just got reminded of this game. Havent played it with any of the patches after i finished it before. Thinking of returning to this after i finish FM2 in case i'm not yet ready for another UO TZ run. Its actually this, gloomhaven or triangle strategy. Did the gameplay/feel of the game change alot with the patches?

      Yeah, it definitely felt better after the patches. Resources were less scarce making replaying maps more worth it and a lot of the skills got reworked or fixed to do what they were supposed too. A much better game after the patches I'd say. Thinking about going back to it myself too, as I never did a full run on it's unlockable hard mode either.

Especially in this day and age when there's never been a bigger variety of games for all types of people. These same ppl often then turn around and talk about how triple a plays it too safe. I really like Redemption Reapers myself. The atmosphere is Dark Fantasy, the music is good and the characters endearing.
    I am a fan of rpg tactics but until chapter 9 the game did not seem difficult to me. The mechanics are quite simple but that's not a bad thing. All you have to do is improve your weapons, play with adjacent attackers and above all don't neglect to mount your characters in skirmish mode.
    I am in chapter 9 of the story and I admit that there the difficulty goes up a notch. Kamikaze creatures keep reappearing. I tried to let them get close enough to be able to kill them first without it exploding on me, until the last suicide bombers, but the game keeps calling me back, as if to tell me no, you have to move forward and move forward, it's blast his weaker troops to kamikaze attacks. I admit that I haven't yet found a way to move forward without danger and this chapter 9 annoys me a little. I confess to being furious, like when Tactics Ogre made me do two missions in a row without telling me that I couldn't get supplies. For the rest, I consider it a very good game. I waited for a promo at 30 euros

    • @welkingunther4298
      @welkingunther4298 6 месяцев назад

      I found those kamikaze units also daunting at first until I realized Lugh can attack first if he even has 1 hp missing (if you max that skill). I just sent him in the front (especially after leveling up which makes him have 1 missing health) and he 1 shots all of those units. Any other stray units, he won't 1 shot, but he takes like half damage, so it works out.
      Game was way harder in the beginning with only 1 spirit draught and limited chars, but once Urs came out, game got much simpler, but felt nice which surprised me since I typically don't find easy games fun. Sometimes lose 1 char here and there in the later chapters mostly because I got lazy, but altogether, normal difficulty is very good.
      I'm glad many people are giving the praise this game deserves. I might be biased since I loved ender lilies and want to support their works AND I think advance wars: Days of Ruin is their best title in the franchise, but I definitely think the game is worth it on sale.

    So many modern reviewers are just shit at games. That's why Nintendo are always praised so much, because they make baby games for kids, yet adults who are still stuck in that stage of their gaming evolution fall in love with their vapid, frictionless crap. Hard West 2 was another piss-easy game which got slated for being "hard" by some because they didn't understand how to play it. I walked through that no sweat at all, yet all I was reading and hearing was how tough it was lol. Gamers who are shit aren't gamers and shouldn't be allowed to review, they're tourists of the hobby.

    • @89Games
      @89Games  3 месяца назад +1

      I hear ya! I think too many reviewers try to cover games they don't actually like which leads to games being considered "hard". Also, many reviewers often don't play more than 5 hours or maybe a little more before doing a review. I think reviews should be done no sooner than completing a first playthrough, otherwise the review should be qualified with, "I didn't finish the game and here is why." This is where someone could mention objectively what was good about the game and what they found as bad. I think reviewers also forget that its okay to say they didn't like a game, but admit that others might if they enjoy x,y, or z.
      P.S. I do enjoy an easy Nintendo game from time to time as a palette cleanser though😁

Cause I already have the shopkeep right after the nest fight. But I love the game. 4/5. Great job on how you described the real point of the game

    Did a full playthrough of this a few days after release, honestly the only thing i HATED was the story. It's been a really long time since I've last seen such horrifically bad writing, that the optimal way to play this is with full story skip focusing just on gameplay. I'm also about 95% positive that the artwork for characters was AI generated, or at least heavily assisted, it's quite low quality. The voice acting in JP is done by very high profile seiyuu, that's probably where most of the budget went. Can't say anything about EN but it's likely mediocre to horrible like in all non-western games. Not that it matters much in this case since you'll be skipping story though.
    The gameplay itself though, man is it hard to find a game in this genre looking this good animation-wise. The difficulty is just right to have a challenge all the way till maybe the last 5 chapters (at that point any one of my characters could take out most enemies on their own, minus the final boss). The constant gold scarcity forces use of lower quality weapons to save money, instead of using it because it kills everything anyway like in FE. Artifacts make certain play styles possible, such as full dodge Sarah vs full damage, DPS Glenn vs tank, etc.
    Overall if the story had any effort at all put into it this would be 100% worth the price. The way it turned out though it's worth 25$ at best. Still don't regret the time spent on it but probably wouldn't play it through more than twice.

    Personally the game is bland if you have played fire emblem games prior. It does not have much to offer, but it is by no means bad it just does not bring much new to the table. Also it does not help the budget is very evident limited. The same picture cutout conversations in fire emblem does not work out so well with realistic 3d graphics in this game. But by no means am i saying that they should not try again.

      They get it. And when more people get it more games like this can be made. Gatekeeping over an OPTIONz is silly not everyone will have a grasp of tactics on an esoteric level. With grinding, they can progress their own way and in time will naturally pick up better tactics with a cushion/training wheels.

    • @FiggsNeughton
      @FiggsNeughton 8 месяцев назад

      @@ombra711 But people like that should stick to Final Fantasy games so they can grind for 45 minutes every day so the combat never gets more difficult than pressing the A button over and over again. Tactics isn't their genre. The whole point of a tactics game is to be forced to deploy and move characters in a smart, tactical manner. Not hit the A button until the victory screen pops up. It would be like me telling sports games devs to take the stats and complicated plays down a notch because I don't know anything about sports and yet I still feel the need to play their game. Doesn't work that way.

    yeah the game is good, its missing qol, it definitely has some issues, and can be frustrating, but its good and fun.
    graphics are great, combat is solid once you get stuff unlocked, its a very old school type of tactics game.
    the weapon durability system is bad, its 1 to 1 durability, and getting those new weapons relies on you
    taking the added risk to try to reach those chests, and no there is no way to grind exp.
    your weapons last 30 hits on average, which equates to 1 or 2 maps, and costs more gold than buying a weapon typically
    you get no gold in most modes, skirmish mode does not give you gold, barely gives you items which you can
    only reasonably use to sell for gold because your items are dust after "grinding" on top of it being completely
    prohibitive to attempt leveling on anything close to your level.
    yeah enjoy turning all your weapons to ash for 3 levels max, and then having to keep going with
    0 durabilty because you don't have enough money to repair anything and have to keep playing the same level
    over and over to farm enough of the single item drop of the map to sell to repair your one strong item.
    cuz you're NOT repairing all of them.
    the gold economy, item drops, and weapon durability systems are just not balanced the best there's no way to twist that.
    as well as the ap issues, so many times I have to waste turns doing absolutely nothing,
    because I have to wait for ap to recharge.
    I keep playing and thinking I'm gonna get an item that either increases my ap, or lowers how much ap all my skills will take
    but it just doesn't happen.
    but yes its a good game. that has gotten an unnecessarily bad rep.
    I just want more out of the game, better mechanic balance, and them to patch the stuff that doesn't work right/well.

    • @89Games
      @89Games  Год назад +1

      That's true, this is a big issue for a lot of people. I guess my thoughts on that would be that such a system wouldn't fit well into what the developers were going for. I really think they were going for a higher difficulty and therefore left this out. With proper positioning, you can still keep the rear safe. But I also know not having at least one character with a zoc ability is a deal breaker for some people. Thanks for the feedback! I'll make sure to mention this in the full review.
