Meaning of the line "We were 1969, we were Jimi and Janis":
1969, sometimes referred to as the summer of love. They are referencing this to point out the love he feels. Jimi refers to Hendrix, and Janis to Joplin, both of whom were very popular in 69, and were rumored to have a brief love affair of their own.
