Army Corps Of Engineers has 450 campgrounds in the United States! You don’t often hear about these campgrounds but you will find they are some of the nicest and best maintained campground around. Check out their website and look for a campground near you!
We don’t often have deadlines or places we need to be.... but in this case that is exactly what happened. We were due in Fort Worth Texas and only had a few days to enjoy this location! In those few days we had to clean the van from top to bottom trying to get out 3 plus weeks of Boondocking on some really cool Texas Beaches.

Yay! A Roodle heavy video! Love it! And I give up at ever NOT having the jingle randomly pop into my head. I'm a thumbs down on the kilt, but Dave, you're the one wearing it so that's all that counts. If the second campsite was further away from the chance of Roodle rolling in a stinky fish, then that alone makes it the best!
Oh gosh! He would roll in the stinky fish too!! I figured we did two Boondocking segment we might as well have two Roodle segments! Gabe and Caroline did such a good job on Roodles jingle!!!

It’s so funny your guys are talking about leveling with rocks again, I told my husband to level our converted ambulance with rocks like you guys so he said let’s try it, so I put the big rock in front of the tire and it sunk the rock we laughed and laughed I guess our ambulance weighs a lot more then your van. John backed up and we put another big rock on top of the first rock and that did the trick. Dave I love your kilt, if I tell my husband that he should get a kilt he probably would get one because his Scottish. But I won’t suggest it because he usually goes comando under his pants he hates underwear so you know what he would wear under his kilt.😂😂😂

Hard to tell but I think I liked camp site #1 because of the trees.

#1 definitely had some shade whereas #2 was wide open.... but the views!!! We are still finding sand a month later but I think we got most of it! Who know Dave might have Scottish in him as well! I feel like we need a test now😂

Pick up a cheap WalMart tent. Set up at current site. Move to new site. If better walk back to old site and pick up WallyTent. If new site is worse return to WallyTent site.
Love the way Roodle throws the ball to you. Is Roodle a lab/standard poodle mix. Answered around 14 minutes in - Labradoodle.
We have a tent on board but there were a couple other sites if it didn’t work out. We’ve only set the tent up once in 3 years to save our spot. Usually it’s no problem.
Roodles mom is a chocolate lab and dad is a apricot standard poodle

We love COE campgrounds! Our next two videos are at army corps of engineers campgrounds. One in Oklahoma and one in Arkansas.... we did not plan it this way but we loved the campground! Adding Grapevine lake to our Texas list!

Way to rock a kilt!
I know this place is a COE campground but if you go to any state park in Texas and pay to stay there, there is FREE fishing, which is very nice! They have a great deal on a Texas parks pass also, and somewhere near 80-85 state parks to check out. Also, residents of Texas & Oklahoma who are 65 and over can fish free in either state and thats very nice! Thanks, I been watching your videos lately, my dog Yuki (an american eskimo) likes to watch bc of Roodle hahaha. So far she knows the intro to Mathew Posa, This Farm wife and Im pretty sure she will remember your channel too! Cheers, have a great one!

I was there back in September stayed for about two weeks loved it I was across from toilets site #6 or 7
Nice! Wish we could have stayed longer. We are thinking we might come back to this spot in September right before the wedding I am photographing in Fort Worth.
I live 17 miles from Steel Creek Park in Bosque County. I think we have 7 actual parks on Lake Whitney and some of them are full service Corp of Engineers parks. If you get the Federal Parks pass, the RV camping is only $10/night. I have the Senior Pass which was lifetime for $65. When we have friends come to Lake Whitney, we pull our RV over and stay with them at Lofers Bend West. McCowan Park is near the 1713 bridge and it is very popular with all the amenities. We usually take our boat up the lake and pull in at the beaches on Steel Creek just for fun. The Corp of Engineers takes good care of all of their parks and some of them close from October until March due to low volume traffic and staffing issues. Less is more! We have a truck camper so know about the clutter and cleaning. But it feels roomy. LOVE the kilt. Get out there and have some fun! 👍😉🇨🇦🐾p.s. We were in Texas and LOVED It!!!💜💜💜💜💜
3 years into this lifestyle and we still de clutter and clean. I think it will be a never ending process! I’m about to go through my tiny cloths closet. You wouldn’t think there would be much there... but there is room for improvement! Happy Boondocking!!

Great video! Cool looking Kilt and yes sand to clean up. When you first opened your refrigerator it looked like a printer and I said "what? So nice to hear and see how you make things work. We don't live in van but we travel a lot with it and we also use a very small cooler that fits just a sixpack. We start out from home with a small frozen water bottle and load it every inch by repacking cheeses etc. into zip loc bags very tight. When we run out of ice we get ice t a soda fountain using a zip loc bag, so we never buy, never have to pay for ice. Of course we don't boondocks remote for too long, mostly 2 days at the time. Really pleased that you pick up trash and better yet that you publicize the effort. I like the kilt, show's that you think for yourself. We really need a national fishing license option, it about kills me when I'm travelling not to be able to fish because well, you've got to draw a line somewhere.... Check out the great disparity in the cost of a fishing license across the country, it's interesting. I like Dave new shorts there's nothing but being more comfortable the hell with the Looks. I wear long johns underneath my shorts when it's cold out because I don't like long paint. I bought a piece of property in Northwest Florida

Wow someone found out about Steel Creek. Been trying to keep it a secret lol. Just around the corner from my house. You can actually scuba dive in lake Whitney. You are right about the size it is big.

Hey Dave and Carrie. First of all...what is going on with all these Vanlifer Men???? Dave in a kilt, Chrome shaving his legs.....is Rob going to start wearing make-up? 😂 Dave, comfort is key. Just be careful not to show YOUR roodle doodle! Hahahah ROB’s TIP: We watched you cleaning the front cab area. You will save a lot of cleaning time and keep more moisture out too, by purchasing “Weathertech - First row, over the hump, mats” They make them for Promasters. In Canada, they cost $189, so probably only $150 or less US$. Much firmer construction than original floor mats. Great video. We are writing down all of your awesome camp spots. @@oneadVANtureatatime I will keep a close eye on Rob. 😉 We are very behind in vaccinations here in Canada, and currently in a “stay at home” order as cases are rising. 😞 Sadly, I don’t see the borders opening for quite some time. The best thing about that mat, is that it is one solid piece across and directs any water to the outside edge and keeps the battery area dry and clean. Highly recommend them!!! ❤️

Thank you for the great video! Leveling blocks or rocks? NEITHER! I level my bed only. Much much easier to do. Now my parking is based on best sun angle for the solar panel. Also I use a small vacuum to help keep the floor clean and to suck up bugs.
Smart to level your bed! I think you either gotta level the van or have tiltable solar panels. We now have a small vacuum after staying on the beach for so long!
Love you guys....I use to just watch your how to van build/maintenance/idea videos as I'm not a huge fan of travel vlogs but between your personalities and the way you format your videos providing helpful tips throughout...I look forward to them every week. Starting van life in May with 3 dogs (yikes)...not really by choice....your videos give me confidence.

Along with the Corps of Engineers there are quite a few parks maintained by different River Authorities that allow free camping. Most are congested during warmer weather. Stay safe and 😷 up.

Firstly, LOVE the kilt Dave, and with pockets it's more practical than a sarong. Great footage as per usual. I choose my campsite according to how my cats feel about it, if they are happy dog is happy, and me too, so I loved you got a Roodle happy spot. Query about your fridge, how is the ventilation for it, is there an external vent? Cudoos for how clever you are with that small space👍
We have drilled holes on both sides (and the bottom) of the cabinet that it is stored in. If we are in reAlly warm weather we leave the door cracked open. Dave and Roodle doNOT do well in warm weather so we are always hunting for the cooler temps😃
