    Such a nice feeling watching the float slide away with a decent fish having taken a nice piece of paste. I made that about 20lbs of fish in about 20 mins.
    What a great return. Thanks Jon.

      Yes I think about 20lb too, which isn’t bad going and makes me appreciate missing an odd bite isn’t a bad thing.

    Nice one. I like my paste very firm and mix the groundbaits with gluten-rich flour, not too much. It sticks like the proverbial to a blanket. Just bought my nephew a Matrix silicone coated net. I hope he can fill it.

    • @JonArthur

      I have messed about with gluten and it’s actually good for sloppy paste too. Hope your nephew has a great time. 🐟🐟🐟

    Great bit of pasta fishing Jon,loved it. Why do fisheries put the blue dye in their lakes though ?

    • @simonmoorcroft1417
      @simonmoorcroft1417 2 месяца назад

      To control weed growth usually.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  2 месяца назад

      Pasta fishing ha ha. Macaroni used to be a popular bait going back a few years. The dye is to stop algae growths but I find the fish are really weirdly behaved wherever it’s used.

      @@JonArthur sorry Jon, didn't realise my spelling mistake until you pointed it out to me. Yeah I remember using macaroni myself when it was a fad. Thanks for clarifying what the blue dye is used for 👍

    Love paste fishing and love white acres twin oaks as always been solid have you ever tried the paste shallow Jon I do it on my club water for the carp it's phenomenal

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes I have. In fact I probably shot the first ever paste shallow feature with my friend many many years ago when I was on the mags. A week later I used it to win the tunnel barn masters when it was two 3.5hr matches. It’s not so popular now but deadly on its day when the fish are ‘getting away with it’ on casters pellets or maggots.

    Hi, I've not really gelled with paste fishing but just wanted to ask a question following the comment about too many fish in the swim. When does paste fishing become a scenario where there is too much bait in the swim? Striking off each bite would potentially leave a pile of 'groundbait' on the deck (if any not taken on the bite), along with any pellets left from the initial feed. So would you only fish this for a limited amount of time? Thanks.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  2 месяца назад +3

      If I feel there’s too many fish, just go in with the paste hook bait. One fish should gobble it up in one. If it’s chaotic I will start a new swim a bit closer or further out

    Monkhall has the blue dye and I struggle to see my line when playing fish as its not clear water either so you don't see the fish until it pops up,but if the Sun shines my line disappears and it makes it difficult to scoop the fish.I am there Tuesday and Wednesday for another festival and am doing some paste up if I get the right depth at topkit and one(ish),most are 4ft plus in the edge,what is your max depth for paste?

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  2 месяца назад +2

      That blue dye is so strange isn't it. You even see clouds of 'fish poo' sometimes when the fish swim by up in the water. Best of luck at Monkhall. I'll fish paste in any depth tbh. 4-6ft is ideal though.

    Hi Jon. Is there any practical difference between fishing with paste and pellets ? I ask because Jamie Hughes, an excellent pellet angler, has said on a few occasions that he doesn't like fishing with paste.

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  2 месяца назад +3

      The difference is the paste always comes off and is messier, whereas a banded pellet stays on and can match the feed and you can miss bites, lift, drop etc. But paste is taken with more gusto by big abd wary fish and allows you to fish stronger gear when conditions allow. It wins lots of matches but knowing when and when not to use it is the key I suppose.
