Wild West Days Wagon Train - Viroqua, Wisc

Watch as draft horse and mule teams pull wagons on the Wild West Days Wagon Train ending at in Viroqua, Wisc. Joe rides along and interviews a few draft horse and mule teamsters and shares footage of the train from the road.
The wagon train is organized by Nathan Strandell and Bob Quackenbush.
Joe rides along with Nathan who tells us a bit about how he became interested in horses and wagon trains. He went on his first on at age 12 and has not stopped.
He talks about the logistics that an organizer must take care of.
Camp sites - room to park trailers, camper and lots of animals without disturbing others.
Meals - they organize some meals, but not all
Lay out trails checking terrain and mileage.
Shuttles, water and port-o-potties!
Next Joe visits with Kelly and Paul Kraft and their team of Belgian Molly mules. They talk about their love of wagon trains. Paul grew up raising large hitch horses and then saddle mules. They have been on many wagon trains and talk about meeting may of the teamsters at other such events.
Curt Leis talks toJoe about his use of light horses for his wagon. He prefers to be an outrider and so has horses that can do both. He has a team of quarter horses. His wagon was custom built to fit inside a horse trailer.
