Love how bonded and trusting she was by Day 7...she LOVES her human girl, that's for sure :) We started a quarter horse filly using Parelli just over a year ago...never handled before we got her and couldn't touch her when she came to us, now we can't get her out of our space! lol, we just finished a Parelli clinic a few weeks ago and my daughter was given oodles of advice on how to make sure she maintains some distance...she gets a little too on top of us. This CAN be a beautiful process, just need lots of patience and take the time it takes, so it takes less time :)
that's exactly what i want to do...i'm going to adopt a couple of yearlings from the blm from the same herd and put them in a boarding facility with 24/7 herd life since i don't have a corral and pen like you! you're so lucky. i've just recently heard about this "parelli natural horsemanship" and it looks awesome. you're so gentle with her and she's a love. god bless!
I SO enjoyed this, I owned a mustang mare for 21 years....best horse I ever owned....once they trust you they are yours, you can ask them to do anything ( safe) and they will...always went the extra mile for me....I miss my Chica Marie.... love this mare's coloring...so different.....

@@rainglow4481 there are plenty of wild horses. They're actually reproducing faster than the land can maintain and the BLM is paying people as incentive to adopt and try to reduce the numbers. Saying there are no wild horses left is absolute misinformation and has nothing to do with the original comment posted.

Great job with her! I have work on the 90 day Mustang training before and I can say from experience it is not easy. The latest one I had work was a Wyoming Mustang she was pregnant but she came along way she is now a trail horse and her foal is a painted up little boy. ( She was a Black. )

Me and my family are going to move onto 100+ acres in the next 2 years! I'm excited because I will finally be able to get a horse; I want to train a mustang! My parents are going to let me! I'm sooo excited!
The thumbs-down bunch would be the idiots who think these horses are better off running loose. They think it's a sin to round them up and make them into what they actually are - domestic horses - rather than just feral horses.

Right now I have 5 Polish horses(konik polski), I have gotten to a stage where they come to me and take a treat, but they wont allow me to touch them for around 2 months now, I can only put my hand or finger on theirs nose and they kinda allow that but nothing more. I should have a smaller paddock for that to work better right? And do you have any tiny tips for that?
LollipopLpets a round pen would help greatly. Round pen work is essential for the beginning starting process- or at the very least, it makes things much easier.

My horses truly seem to learn by the started and trusting horse that what I am asking of them, is okay- because they see the mature horse calm and accepting and trusting. Remember, they are herd animals- and if you aren't part of their herd at first, another horse could help to show a human is n ot to be feared. (actually- some humans should be feared- but the horse will learn quickly who to trust and who not to)

It is just a yearling. You can put a light saddle on them to get them exposed to it, but they haven't finished growing enough to take weight. So much else you can work on in the meantime, like she is doing, so that when ready to ride, the horse accepts it as just another thing.
Yes, Lindsey still owns Breezy. Breezy is now four years old. She loves people and sees everything in a positive light. Lindsey has started her under saddle in the last year and continues to work on her development. :)
