Looks great Tom. Love these old Weber Grills. Last spring I cleaned and over hauled my 18 year old Genesis Silver, new burners, flavorizer bars, added cast iron grates, and a new igniter. Works as good as new!
Outstanding video. Some folks wonder why they have to buy a new grill (or lawn mower, leaf blower, etc.) every 5 years. 1st reason is lack of maintenance and the second is buying poorly made, but cheap, products.
Great video on top to bottom cleaning of that Weber Spirit! When they were USA built. You’re lucky you didn’t have a grease fire. Especially when grilling those sausages. I got the spray version of the cleaner you used and it works great! Thanks again for sharing Tom! Cheers.
Thanks Jay! You are correct,,, I haven’t been to Florida for 2 years,,, you are correct we were lucky that we didn’t have a grease fire. As always I appreciate you Watching and supporting! Thanks Jay!
I have one of the old red two burner Weber gas grills. I got it from a lady who was going to dump it because she couldn’t get it to light. I rebuilt it when the lady gave it to me in about 2003 and I’ve rebuilt it once since. We’ve used it about once a week since we got it, mostly for hamburgers. BTW we use a Tupperware hamburger mold to form patties so they are the same thickness on the edges as the center. We use 85% lean top quality beef and add no seasonings since we have no two family members who want their burgers seasoned the same. I use a brush like yours to keep the grill grates clean. I do not oil my grill. Whatever I’m grilling should have enough fat for that. I use a Pampered Chef Bar-B-Boss spatula. One final thought, Tom, I keep my grill covered with the correct Weber cover. My last one cost about $50.00 and they each last about 5 years. Thanks for the great video from the Central Coast of California where I’ll fire up the Bar-B this afternoon.
I always recommend if your doing a deep clean, take the burners out, spray them with degreaser, use heavy duty steel wool and spray inside and out with water, then dry vertically with the open end down to drain. Makes it easier to clean the grill with them removed also. It is only 2 screws for the manifold cover and 2 more to remove the manifold. NEVER try and remove the bolts at the ends of the burner in the firebox as they are just place holders for the burners.
Thanks for Watching Amy! Most likely some grease from past cooks, use a citrus based cleaner to remove and then get the grill hot and let sit covered to burn anything else out. Let me know if you have more questions

Why would a weber grill develop green/white mold on the inside, if always cleaned and cooled?

Tom, what brand is the shop vac ? How much was it? Where did you purchase it? Nice size. Thanks
