Woah, this is an extremely creative take on an old favorite - very nicely done! The way everything is kinda offset here, I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around the song, and it really gets you thinking while listening!🤔 The time signature here is... confounding, to be honest. Like, at first, I thought it was in 4, but then there's a mix-up like every other measure, but not quite. This must have been quite a challenge to arrange, since you basically had to rework the rhythms and timing from scratch - big props for that! And rhythms aside, there are also some significant changes to the chord structures and even melody. That slightly unsettling segment at 0:53, for instance, is definitely a "woah" moment, and it lasts just long enough before resolving (sorta). And I love how much you deviated with those bass notes! It's such an unpredictable progression, and even after several listens, I'm still being caught off-guard by the chord structures. Great instrumentation here, as well! It's always fun to hear your signature muted trumpet in the mix, and having the tenor sax take the melody in the lower octaves was a cool twist! I feel like it's always a pleasant surprise when the bassier instruments get a chance to shine with the lead part! The visuals here are quite nice, and the slight fish-eye effect on the gameplay footage makes it feel like you're viewing through a water droplet. I like how you're always coming up with unique visualizer styles for your videos, with key elements remaining intact. Keep up the excellent work, my man! 🙂
Thank you, sir Equalyze!! Yes the rhythm is super wonky for sure, it’s in 7/8 which is a bit of a strange time signature. But it’s one of those ones that just came to me someday and I thought the melody would fit that time signature pretty well. I think in the end it did! I also really enjoyed the instrumentation on these Johto-fi tracks, so I’m glad that comes across in the music!
Great remix! The rhythm is very interesting here.. I'm used to common 4/4 time signatures, so hearing something like this is like a new experience lol. But it works! You got the drums and percussion nailed down here, very well programmed! I actually may start paying more attention to uncommon rhythms like this, it's always good to have variety in your music arrangements. The visualizer is very unique, I like it! I actually haven't seen something like this before. Most people would have their logo or name in the center, but you layered the gameplay footage in the center of the visualizer with a circular mask, with artwork in the background! Very creative! 👍
