    It would be more convenient if you could turn on utility, leave the car and lock the doors from the outside. This is good for keeping the car cool on very hot days while you go in and shop. Or can be used to heat the car on very cold days. Or can be used to keep your dog comfy and cool while you run into the store.

      A lot of people mention this, there must be a logical reason why it doesn’t work that way, but unfortunately I am unsure of why

    Does car have to be powered on at first ? If so what’s the purpose of utility mode isn’t like driving the vehicle 🚗 since it’s already on? Or does staying parked for a long period of time eventually shut off vehicle if utility mode isn’t activated ?

    • @doolanbrian
      @doolanbrian  Год назад +2

      If you want to run all the HV stuff like climate, or if you want to run accessories for a long time, the car must be on, in the “ready” state, which you need the wireless key to get into.
      Utility mode, entered from the “ready” power mode, prevents you from shifting out of park, and prevents the car from shutting itself off after 90 minutes as it otherwise would.
      Thank you for watching!

    • @gtchickadee1
      @gtchickadee1 Год назад +2

      Ok, I just tested this! Yes, the car has to be ON, in ready mode and on parking gear. When the utility mode is enabled, it activates the parking break and prevents the car from being shifted into a driving or reverse gear. That is neat 😎

    But, what how do I leave the Utility Mode ON, leave the car, and lock the car, so nobody could steal the car and valuables, while I walk away and have a meal while I do a DCFC?
    I need the USB and Power Sockets running, as my wife is lactating, and I have a small mini freezer running, and I need the USB running (along with OBD2) so I could have my phone send me notification when it reaches certain %.
    I'm from Malaysia, we don't have access to BlueLink (that's why I need the OBD2 + EVNotify running on an Android Box to send me notification), and our most of the DC chargers are 30/40/50/60/80/90 kW, and there are only less than a handful of 100+kW DC chargers around the whole country.
    The way I'm doing right now is, turn on utility mode, open the window, charge the vehicle, then lock the door through the window, close the window, go enjoy my meal. When I come back, I need to use the manual key to open the door (not the keyless or fob buttons), to enter the vehicle. I'm not sure how safe it is, and also if anyone could steal my care and drive it away turning it from Utility to Drive mode without the keys?

      So you use the start stop button without applying the brake pedal which means it turns everything on but it doesn’t put the car into a ready mode for driving.. It’s like turning the ignition on on a regular car where the dash lights up but without actually turning it to the next point where it starts trying to start the ignition🙂
