A Kang Daniel reaction at long last! He's a soloist with b-boying and modern dance roots who is also the CEO of his company after his former boy group disbanded in 2018. He went through hardships in 2019 after taking legal action against his company since it sold his contract rights without his consent. His former company ran smear campaigns to get him to cave, but he didn't relent since he was in the right. While this was going on, sometime in early 2019, he was diagnosed with depression and panic disorder. After the court sided with Daniel to suspend the contract, he started up his own company. Daniel was blacklisted from the Korean music industry for most of 2019 until his former company dropped their charges. Daniel was shaken by what he went through. Because of the smear campaigns, he had a lot of haters attacking him and spreading slander. He reached a breaking point in December 2019 and went on hiatus for his mental and physical health for a couple months. He wrote the lyrics to PARANOIA at that time when he lost his will to keep going. The song expressed his paranoia that he might hurt himself. After recording he said he thought, "Such dark topics and things can be just simply shared like this,” and was happy because he felt like he overcame his pain, like he surpassed his past self and his perspective became wider and could see things he wasn’t able to see before.
Really proud of how far he's come and how open he is about his struggles. From a Soompi article, he said, "I believe this is a feeling everyone can relate to, there’s only a difference in the extent and the depth. I’m thankful that I can display the feelings I’ve felt through music. The reason I put focus on such a dark aspect is because the majority of people are reluctant to bring this up. I wanted to confess my inner concerns and communicate them."
PARANOIA is a trailer for his upcoming album. He has more stories to tell and wants to be known as artist who is true to himself. Really looking forward to that!

I found out about him after Wave but I didn't know that much about him outside of his music, which I just *love*. Now knowing more about his background it makes him and his music so much more special to me. Thank you for this, I can't wait to hear the album😊

That part where you pointed out that it said "failure" on his arm is correct. It also says ugly and those are the two words that were thrown at Kang Daniel the most by antis. Your theory is also pretty spot on; this song is about Kang Daniel's struggles of anxiety and depression from the hurtful things he has experienced as a famous person in the public eye. Like shown in the music video, everybody is watching him and are there to bring him down (the eyes are the sword reference). He has been very forward about his struggles to his audience and we should be proud at how much better Kang Daniel is doing because it takes a lot of courage to come back from the dark place he was in.

Wow, your view on the scenes and the conception did complete my own so perfectly! Thank you for this video 😁 I am a fashion designer and I can tell you: also the costumes perfectly telling the story. There is the outfit with the corsett - a fashion piece that feels like a cage. you cannot move in the way you would like to and it is really uncomfortable and not natural at all. and the outfit with the belts and some latex kind of fabric... well I guess belts do have a clear message but also the material like latex or some kind of plastic fabrics do tell the story - they won't let you breathe. All in all I love the song, the lyrics and the video in it's sound, look and conception! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 awesome work! 🎶

i love the way that the mv is designed to drive emotions, not show off artist's "swag" styles which are so generic
AND can we all realize that the darkness/paranoia he was fighting the whole time was himself! At the end he's clutching his neck after he stabbed the "monster" in the neck. In the words of Twenty One Pilots: Sometimes to stay alive you gotta kill your mind. And I think that's true with all artists. The pressure to be better, to work harder can make a split psyche form against our own will. The voice in our head that says "YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH" "NOBODY LIKES YOUR IDEAS". That includes the even darker whispers. Daaaaaaaamn Daniel. Speak that truth, that dark ugly truth.

I've watched more than 50 reaction videos for this song and this is the most awesome and detailed!! I've never been this satisfied watching a reaction video more than this! ❤❤❤
I took this song as covering the actual feeling of paranoia itself as I've suffered badly with it my whole life- lockdown only made it worse. It really struck a cord with me.
The feeling of being watched constantly, no matter what I do, its terrifying. I took the view of the monsters being people I know and how my head sees them. Living like this isn't fun and most times I see paranoia portrayed in media, it's of a person who is psychotic when that isn't always the case. We can be ordinary people too who can hide it very well. This MV really made me feel happy, it wasn't trying to show paranoia as something that makes you a killing machine or something crazy like that, it was showing the realistic struggles of suffering behind closed doors and I really respect it for that reason.
(This is ofc how I took the video personally)
