We drove from Baltimore to Long Island last summer for a family reunion…man we were not prepared for NY traffic 😳 We arrived almost 3 hours late and spent like $100 in tolls round trip! I’m so glad Darla is ok ❤ The fireworks 🎆 were so pretty reflecting on the water.

I think her stress was from all the grass situation. Between feeling you and your hubs anxiety ,which dogs can feel, then hearing all the constant mowing and it was a new place after a long drive. My dog gets terrible anxiety and reacts that way.
You will love the battery operated lawnmower. Mine is 80 V and it goes like no other.❤

I am so glad Darla is okay.I live in PA and none of my Dollar General's in my area have produce items.That is amazing.I had a nice Memorial Day with too much food as usual.I cut up some veggies and had ranch dip.I ended up making a soup with them also with chicken.So good.

I really really enjoyed this so much! We live in western Canada and we have a cabin in the next province over. It took us 11 hours to get there and 11 hours to get home, what with the bathroom stops, lunch & supper breaks, and several 20 min construction stops. Plus the whole week we were there, we had rain, hail & snow almost every day. PLUS our 25 year old water tank decided to go on the fritz and we had other water issues. We pump our water from the lake so it was just one thing after another. We are seriously considering selling our place as it’s just too much as we are in our late 70’s & early 80’s now. Not fun anymore. Enjoy your place, I know how much you were looking forward to it. 🌝🌞 PS great fireworks display! 💥

Omg Theonie- so stressful! Crazy. We have a family home on the Chesapeake and went down Friday of Memorial Day weekend and my dog got sick too! I spent a sleepless night with him as he struggled to breathe and vomited. He’s just a puppy. We’re rural, there are no emergency vets anywhere at all. Ended up calling the trip off, came home first thing Saturday much to my kids’ disappointment! He’s been fine since. But I can so relate to your fear! I am glad she is better now, and my boy too ♥️
I think your vlogs are perfectly fine! You do a great job. So glad Darla is ok. Good that you have a Vet contact in PA just in case for the future. Also you may want to check out nearest Med facility for people. I have many fond memories of going to the country growing up and I know your family and especially your dear son will too!

Theoni !! Please tell Brett that the grass clippings are great mulch for the lawn. Here in Florida hardly anyone uses bags because of that. If it still really bothers him, tell him to rake the clippings and put them around the bases of the trees. Good for them. Secondly, as far as you puppy is concerned,,,, because you're near water, there is a very good chance he played with a frog. They secret a toxin that makes dogs throw up, it wont kill her, just bother her tummy. She'll eventually learn not to play with them.

This reminds me so of when our son was young & our lakehouse. Seems like we hauled stuff everytime we traveled there. 😊😊 But so many wonderful memories!!! It will get better each time!!! Little man is very handsome & growing strong fast!❤
Oh, my, so glad y'all enjoy living where going "anywhere" means passing through NYC. Long Island is very nice. It would be my absolute worst nightmare - we avoid the largest cities at any cost! LOL Had to live a little north of DC (hubby's work) for 6 years - hated it! Living near Raleigh, NC (500K pop) is just perfect for us! 😉
Your lake house is very nice - glad you were able to enjoy parts of it this week. Having to keep up with maintenance each trip would be a bummer for sure. We go to the lake (45min) but we bring our motorhome and camp on lake in a campground - instant lake house lol.
Hopefully your next trip will be full of fun and relaxation! 😊 Children, especially, love the outdoors.

Hi Theonie, Thank you for taking us along on your Lake trip. Things will get better. When I saw the Queens signs it reminded me of when my son lived in Astoria for 15 years he payed with Eve to Adam and Popa Chubby before he moved back home. He took me all around and I went all the gigs that were in New York. It was a fun time. Thank you for sharing your adventures. I am happy Darla is good now. I can imagine how worried you were and not knowing the area .

I'm not a vet but I wonder if maybe withhold food during the car ride. And once you get to lake House wait 30 min or so to feed her. Maybe you can also keep a can of Pure Pumpkin for stomach upsets in the future. Glad to hear she's feeling better. I would have been a wreck like you.. Enjoy the rest of your time at the lake .. Lil Man is growing so fast, and he is so handsome. Your traffic is like Georgia. We call it the 10 minute mile because the traffic is always so heavy, it takes roughly 10 minute to go a mile. I love the "drive" and enjoyed riding with you. Thank you for the video and I can't wait to see what they sell in your Dollar General and compare the prices with Georgia. A produce section in a Dollar General???? WOW Blessings for Darla, glad she is doing better.

I lived in New York City from 1999 to 1982. I loved it. I would’ve stayed however family obligations, I had to come home to New Mexico.. I will always have fond memories of my time in the Big Apple.

I’m sorry your Darla struggled over the holiday weekend. We too had an emergency with out jack, our
Chihuahua. It’s a long story, so won’t go there, but basically he was due at our vet the Tuesday after Memorial Day for a procedure. He didn’t make it. Saturday night he had an emergency, and we had to make the painful decision for him. We were lucky the emergency vet was open in the middle of the night. Since Covid they have struggled to stay open. Ultimately we had to say goodbye, and I am devastated…I didn’t know it was my last day with him..he has been with me twelve years and I miss him so much…I cry so easily, more like sob….he was my best friend, my little boy. I am so lost without him…..I wish he could have made it to see his own vet. That hurt too….Ugh…love hurts sometimes….🐾🌈🐾

20 to 30 minutes is not a bad drive for groceries…find the closest store on your drive up and store before you get there. That way you don’t back track! It will all be great!
Many of us have mulching mowers that cut clippings to then it makes the grass grow..no worries about bugs etc all beneficial.
Yeah that’s different, there’s didn’t mulch either just left thick layer of long grass over everything
Sorry you didn't have a very good Memorial weekend. It is getting there, so in the future you will enjoy it more. I wished my Dollar General had produce. Then I wouldn't have to go so far to the store. Little man looked like he was having fun. I am glad Darla is ok. See you in your next video.

Lake time has to be the best. But yes, I am biased too, I always say when I go back home,e to Chicago that is the best Windy Cindy Skyline, but same once I hit traffic downtown I am so over the skyline…..lol Now that I live in N. Central WI I live on a lake and always love it. So calm and peaceful esp in the morning….Great video girl

My "lake house" is a camper on a seasonal site at a campground about 65 miles from my house. If it takes 2 hours in traffic, we're bitching about it. New set up always takes awhile and is a lot of work. It will get easier every time. I'm glad Darla is feeling better, like you said she probably ate a mouse or a bird or something disgusting.

We have dollar stores within about 15 minutes but to go to Walmart and Kroger is about 40 minutes. Now if you want a Sam's or Aldi it is over an hour. We plan Aldi and Sam's once a month.

Hello Theonie, I live in Monroe NY. We have price choppers in the next town over. Love the store, bit pricey, but the meat is fantastic!!!
We have price chopper in good old Ct they have a lot of cool stuff and it’s not bad for prices either … so glad you enjoyed price chopper 😊😊😊😊😊 can’t wait for more updates on the lake oh if you have a home goods check out their decor they have a lot of stuff for the lake house that said different sayings and some cool stuff 😊
