Great reaction! Elliott Smith is my favorite artist ever so I love seeing more people learning about him. Also, you liking Needle in the Hay more after a while is very relatable for me. There's songs that didn't click for me until years later after the first couple listens!
Yea true it happens so often that some tracks have to grow on you first and that really depends also on how long it takes but anyways i had that idea with getting some little extras in there with my cam to correct some things because you could never just review an album fully with one listen

Elliott = legend. Like most of us who dig Mr. Smith, you'll probably change your "favorite" of his albums/songs as you explore, and then again, and again, such a deep well of great songs, into his b sides and "unfinished" ones, he really was prolific and what a multi instrumentalist on top of everything else.
