Most people commenting and shit talking about this lifting are lap top warriors. Svend at his prime was one of the all around strongest humans EVER. 400kgx3 training deadlift, 200kg behind the neck press with ROCKS for plates...easy, 270kg x 5 front squat...easy. It's not like he's maxing out every time either. Trust me, if he decided to Olympic lift from an early age, he be a world champion, that's how explosive and strong that guy was.
Incredible. To have that much raw body power to slam 400 pounds over your head with a 2-3 inch drop in the hips followed by the shoulder and triceps drive to lock it is unreal. There is also a video of Marius doing the same movement and going up to 455 or thereabouts. I am sure Svend could handle it too considering how effortless he looked with 400 pounds.
@tom88cba This is a video clip i took of Svend Karlsen right before his retirement. He was supposed to train squat this day with 320 kg/715 LBS But he had some trouble with his left knee, so it turned out to be a easy shoulder and triceps workout. Awsome to see that power LIVE !! ;)
I'm so glad peple like jpizzle 470 understood the whole thing about this kind of lifting.:-) Svend has offcourse more experience from the strongman game than anyone here. So he know exactly what he is doing ! Awsome to see this "LIVE" since i was the one taping this footage. and one of mye favorite clips from the movie "A Life In Power" :-) This was just a easy little workout for Svend before a competition. He could have gone way more heavy but wouldent risk injury.
take all the freakin steroids you want, 200 kgs of shoulder, that too, behind the neck...unbelievable..n i see ppl calling themselves hulk, benching this much!
when ur training to be able to lift as much weight as humanly possible.. like in a wsm contest.. its not wise to press stricly with the shoulders- using the entire body allows more weight to be added to the bar. im sure they also do strict presses but this is how u have to train to be able to compete in strength competitions. u have to be used to the technique and it takes practice. its about knowing how to use ur entire body to generate incredible power- unlike bodybuilding
holy shit hes strong, ive rarely to see any1 repping standing shoulderpress with 180/400 behind the head, why does a video like that gets so many dislikes? not like there was justin beiber involved here
Hey there, have you considered "MuscLeader" (search on Google)? On their website you will find a good free video showing the best way to start building notable muscles easily while burning body fat as well. Chris and many other guys had good results by using this strategy. Hopefully it will help you as well.
@brendan6022 Oly lifters blow gymnasts out of the fucking water any day any place, their sport doesn't even require amazing explosive power, more like fantastic endurance
why is no one educated on what strength training is? this guy is obviously not a bodybuilder- look up "push press". hes not isolating his deltoids and going 3 seconds up and down.. its training to be able to lift more weight- this involves using the legs and almost every muscle in ur body. strength training vs bodybuilding.
I have watched dozens of lifters on RUclips, and many are phenomenally strong. But why do so few of them do any strict movements. Half movements, using legs with presses (like the above push press) incline presses passing for 'military' presses, cheat curls, ....
A decade later I can say it helps with functional strength. Strongmen rarely use one movement to move objects. Using your entire body helps with the lifting technique as it relates to stones, logs, and presses.
/watch?v=x8z8vZIgtyo you think this guy could just press the weight strict ? nope, its called a powerjerk/jerk... the tecnique used to lift more weights

Extremely strong

An easy shoulder workout for Svend = a hard deadlift workout for me.
pushing a 180kg up easy as that..for reps. its pretty badass! :D great stuff
as this being an easy push press workout, what is his max on push press or biggest weight used for sets? epic shoulder power btw.
Great clip. Great music
And he still looks real. I don't think he will die young.
Viking Power!!

He did 180kg
@@dleigh9997 180x4 is about 200kg though 1rpm
its harder when you do it behind as then its all shoulders if you do it infront you use upper chest to wich makes it easyer

Riktig Viking!

svend said on hes movie (a life in power) that he had pressed between 200-210kg(dont remember) seated overhead once ;)
holy shit hes strong, ive rarely to see any1 repping standing shoulderpress with 180/400 behind the head, why does a video like that gets so many dislikes? not like there was justin beiber involved here
People are jealous

Gull værdt og ha i hylla si !!

Why so many dislikes??? This is seriously impressive
@MrDaveloveslaura I think it might have something to do with the fact that thisis not Olympic Weightlifting
