I felt that Daryle Singletary was the most underrated singers in the history of Country music. I remember the first time I heard him cruising on a pontoon boat in the Ohio River and Too Much Fun came on. I guess it was about 1994 but all I remember was WHO THE HELL is this cat??? What a singer!!!
I thought the same thing when I first heard him. But the song that got my attention "I let her lie". But I guess I've always kind of liked the sad songs.
He was right...no one could sing like Daryle. I played drums behind him for a couple of years and we would always soundcheck with this song...goosebumps every time!
OMG this song just gave me the chills,, beautiful tribute to Daryle,, Jamey did a great job of honouring a wonderful singer with such a stellar voice,,, RIP Daryle you truly were one of a kind ,,, Unique, Special
The sound of something that's gone...yet you can still hear it. You still reach for it...... you will always chase it with the hope of touching it one more time if only for a moment
Jamey is a true music fan's always gracious with complimentary words. Singing the artist's best work is high praise when you are the original and the best
"Tales from the tour bus." Johnny paycheck. He was a legend and a outlaw indeed. This song was played at his funeral. He knew it would be. This was his goodbye.
I think this song accounts for every great country legend that ever gave us the greatest country music in the world.. who either burned out or just got old and passed, leaving their great music behind for us all. Great tribute!
tks for knowing and recognizing Daryle's potential. what a great man he was and I am truly happy to have met him. Now I need to meet you Jamey. You song awesome and are a true hardcore country
Thanks for this great upload, man.. It's nice to see the acknowledgement of Daryle from other singers whom I admire. I saw Jamey's tweet paying respect to him the day of his passing. It's also nice that everyone was quiet during this performance.
This is one of my all time favorite country songs that I was introduced to by listening to Daryl Singletary's album "That's Why I Sing this Way." It influenced me to listen to and come to love the works of Johnny Paycheck. Thank you, Jamey Johnson, for your lovely tribute to Daryl Singletary and his inspiration.
I have listened to these 3 ppl sing this song, and i like them all,no negative comments at all ,needs to be more ppl singing and write ing these knidof songs today
Jamey Johnson what a great voice one of my favorite singers and when i heard him sing and i knew he was going to be a big star and would win many awards . Darryl Singletary you left us too soon at such a young age and what a great voice my son thought so to .... we loved the song 'The Note ' sung with such a great voice and of course many others R.i.p. Darryl Singletary you are missed terribly ....
3 of my favorites sung by 1 of my favorites!! Great job and tribute JJ! Daryle rest in peace in God's love!!😖 I wish I could've met big D !! Thanks for posting Wade it's beautiful!!
exactly I saw an incredible performance of jamey johnson and allison Krause and every mouth breathing idiot in the venue flapped their stupid mouths the whole time. it was disgusting.
@@davejohnsin3476 just so damn irritating and disrespectful in my own personal opinion. Especially at smaller venues. You paid to hear music....not talk the entire time about pointless bullshit
j bair you know what the greatest feeling is for a performer? Silence while he’s performing, then a grand applause! At least that’s how I felt years ago when I stepped on stage at a local nightclub and played. I’m just a local guitarist that’s, in my opinion, nothing special. But, one night my wife and I went to watch some friends play and they pulled me on stage to sit in a song or two. I played what I called my signature song, The Sky Is Crying. I played with my eyes closed the whole song and when I opened them at the end I had a standing ovation! Never had one before or since, but that feeling is euphoric! No drug can give the feeling I felt!
No disrespect to the others that have played this. But, I’ve listened to George Strait’s, Johnny Paycheck’s, and Daryle Singletary’s....this is literally the best version
I've always said dwight yoakham could sing the phone book and make it sound good but jamey johnson could sing a math problem and bring you to tears doing it
You need to come to Brownwood and see Ernest willborn. He new you were going be big. Im his sister Veronica. . Henwould say there he is on the radio your awesome. 102 cherry st Brownwood Texas

That has to be such an honor
Now I want to know, what was it like? We could all dream right?
It was definitely the coolest gig I’ve ever had. Daryle was so down to earth and had an incredible voice
Everything Jamey Johnson sings turns to gold. He's proof that country music still lives. I love ya Jamey. 💜
Thank God Jamey Johnson for keeping the outlaw country music alive , he is a dinosaur.
One of the most well written songs in country music ! Jamey you made Paycheck and Daryle proud.
no one can sing like you either, Jamey. You also have given your life.

...precious memories how they linger
I loved him more than any Country singer and I love Jamey Johnson wow what a tribute
Like Daryle, Jamey didn’t sell out to the big money interests and stayed true to tradition.
I love how he missed a note on the guitar on purpose just like Paycheck’s later live version. Daryle was so damn good and so is Jamey. Semper Fi.
That's a missed note?. I always thought it was an odd sounding chord that was purposely put into the song.
Gutslinger No doubt. That missed note puts a smile on my face every time.
pretty good
Time stamp?
@@superchef78 about 2:10 or a little after
Precious memories is still one of my favorite songs no singer like Darryl was been missed
I met. Daryle one time one of the best singers there ever was.❤❤❤❤❤❤
I don't care to much about Jamey Johnson but I loved how he did this song, made me cry, he sounded so much like Daryle Singletary in this song.

No one can ever replace the ones that have passed on

I used to listen to him long time ago. And a year later I found out he had passed away. Damn it’s crazy. Rip
I have to say Jamey is the pride of Montgomery Alabama

Miss my daddy
Only Jamie Johnson could do it as good as the great Darrell
My hero
It takes someone that no one sings alike to sing a song that no one sings alike!

like this song. Jamie's not bad singing it. sounds good
Not bad friend ? Jamey knocks it out of the park here he did just as good as anybody on this
Dang, Johnson does this song justice too.
But Daryl owned it.
God damn..
Is there any song, from any real musician Jamey can't do justice?
No one can touch Paycheck. You just proved that. That being said, Daryle was amazing!
Would sound awesome if he slowed it down
Total different families mom got together with there father told them about the sorry game what she knew it wasn't much only I know
4:18 It's called real life sweetheart. Try living it sometime.
They only like one side of me they crazy but not rich until they took
Better with age
Every cover I've heard Jamey do I've usually liked better but you just can't top Daryl and Johnny.
