  • Karnataka has witnessed the brutal murders of four women in less than a month. All by men who were known to the women. Men who were friends, lovers, fiances - men, who could not handle rejection.
The ruling Congress and the Opposition are engaged in a political slugfest even as the actual cause of women's safety lies forgotten.
How do we make sense of such crimes? Why is the "love jihad" argument a dangerous trap? What is the State government's responsibility in all this?
To better understand the socio-cultural factors the drive such crimes, we spoke to Madhu Bhushan, an independent activist-and writer, who was with Vimochana, a women’s collective for almost three decades, and now works with the SIEDS Collective, Gamana Mahila Samooha and Naveddu Nilladiddare.
