Mustang. The original that started the Ponycar stampede. This Day Two version represents the fate of most original Mustangs. Kept them relevant through the years.
Based on their website, this was a 289 V8 two barrel originally, with the VIN for the win: 8 for 1968 model year, R for San Jose, CA assembly, 02 for Mustang fastback, C for 289 V8 with two barrel and the rest is the production sequence. The San Jose, CA plant was also called Milpitas Assembly and operated from 1955 to 1983. With the tag, you can brag: 63A for Mustang fastback with bucket seats, W for Yellow exterior paint, 2F for Saddle vinyl interior trim, 28B for Wednesday February 28, 1968 production, 71 for Los Angeles, CA sales district, 2 for 2.79:1 rear end ratio, non-locking, and W for C4 automatic transmission.
The builder did a tasteful job on that Stang. One thing is interesting is that practically every 65-67 Mustang I’ve seen advertised for sale that has a 302, the seller also maintains that it has the original motor. Or late 60s F-100s with 289s.
Ford during this era on thier lower tier offerings bench vinyl seats were as slick as owl poop. I remember as a yute sliding around like a hockey puck in the back seat of my brothers 69 torino gt. Yes, my brother's driving had some effect on this, I can still hear him laughing like a hyena as I bounced off of the plastic rear interior. He said "seatbelts are for sissies." 69 & 70 was a different world and I miss it.
bc of the movie Bullitt , it is my dream car love that movie, i am currently budling a lego ford mustang fast back, its a lot of parts lol , liked and subbed hello from Cobourg Ontario Canada
That paint system is called inferno orange metallic if you go with custom paint, or you can source it as Nissan BEBB, EBB Monarch Orange Metallic. I see on the Nissan Rogue and Kick quite often. It is quite striking day or night.
I have a Fastback that is registered as a '68 per California but it has no side lights, the rearview mirror is attached to the ceiling and not a glued on pick and a few other '67 only things. The VIN is where Steve shows it though on the passenger side dash.
It's a good looking Mustang. The color is nice inside and out. Just to have a beautiful car like that is awesome. Glad to see it is not sitting on the ground . That's a step above those. Ever see a low down car back then. 😐 Only if someone stole the tires and wheels.
Ha! Haaa! You make me laugh, no shortcuts? Where is the spare tire, jack, wrench? Why no original steering wheel? A two- barrel carburetor? A C4 automatic, yuck, how about a 4 or 5 speed stick. I bet you have a regular differential. I don't remember high back seats in 1968. I love the paint job though, should have done a aqua marine blue interior for a beautiful interior.
The 220 hp small block, however, only makes 140 or 150 hp net. Not only this is not a muscle machine, it is actually slow. Even a 1995 Honda Civic will be faster!
😂😂😂😂 guess the car that's worth the most though. It's not all just about how fast you get there, it's the journey. And you can't compare a 1995 car to a 60's car.
I would love it's this one Car FORD MUSTANG GTA brown Car FORD MUSTANG GTA for just give to me bring it up to on Australia Queensland Brisbane give to me Craig Penhall My dream ohhhh yeahhhh
@@frankjones4094 Of course it is my friend. But I'm an old man & not likely to buy anymore cars, sadly. I just know if I am able to start buying cars again, I won't buy anymore orange, yellow, gold or brown cars & nothing with a brown interior, all of which I've had. IMO all Fords should be dark blue with either a black or gray interior. I spent 32 years in the car business & there's probably no color or brand of car I haven't either owned or driven, besides Pagani & Koenigsegg.
@@bentnickel7487 I don't know why you felt the need to reply but you like what you do & I like what I do. But I will tell you, I've owned a complete palette of vehicles but the best ones have been either blue or white & those are my 2 favorite colors on a vehicle. As for interiors, black and or gray goes perfectly with any color exterior. And at my age, I'll probably never buy another vehicle but if I could, I'd order a sapphire blue 1968 Mustang Fastback from Revology with a black interior.
Somebody did a phenomenal job on that beauty.
I Really Wished I Had This Car in 1976 When I Went Off to College in Texas. (smile)

Gorgeous '68 Fastback Stang 🎉
Stunning car. Love the color and the mile deep paint. The molded in scoop is perfectly done.
Steve you are a classic too
I usually prefer these in black or very dark red but this colour is gorgeous!
The color is stunning, great stance, love the custom touches, that back tailight panel is the nicest of any Mustang, the Shelby add on look fantastic.
What a beauty looks great with the front spoiler.

Looks like a 67 pony grill...68 was square center.
I had a '68 and noticed that.
Those bucket seats ain't original either.
good catch! I didn't notice that. It's a gorgeous car but something like that would bother me.
If only it was a 4 speed!!!! Nice Mustang for sure!!!!
Aren’t those bucket seats from a ‘70 Mustang ? I had a ‘70 coupe ; & I believe that they’re the same . 🤷♂️😁
I think the models of 67 and later have big block engines, from 390 GT and later ..., what the the rear axle, was that 8"or 9 "
Looks like my hot wheel
Get your hands off the finish!! lol
Steve just a Correction its not a 2nd Gen Mustang The First Gen Mustangs are from 1964 to 1973 are all First Gen Mustangs
Very nice too bad they didn't at least install a four barrel carb intead of just a two barrel .
Man, I wish I had some money to blow...
FORD WORKERS WENT IN STRIKE JUNE JULY AUGUST 1968 HENCE NO PRODUCTION FOR 90+ DAYS!! That’s why low numbers
What is the actual color name please
As a custom color, it could be called anything, you're not going to find that color by Ford. Let's call it Copper Mist, if you need a name.
Totally awesome car Ford power forever baby a real Chevy and dodge killer l love it keep on bringing it
sec gen 67-68
The car's nice.
Those are NOT the stock front seats (like you said in the video) and it's console, not counsel.
The capital one ads are annoying and relentless. Jeez
Move so we can see it.
color is good 302 2barel is not should be a 4 v
I mean that paint job is beautiful, beautiful but when he opened that door and showed that interior color, oh not good in my opinion.
I've always hated the closeness of the fuel filler to the bumper.
Too bad it's not a 4-speed
How many fake scoops are on this jalopy?
A cobbled together 68 with 67 fog lamps hood scoop off a Shelby and a small block car Not even a GT Nothin to bragg on Ugh Not impressed at all

Why are you hating? It’s a custom build what’s the problem it’s a beautiful car. Ever think spare out for video geez lol harsh
2-Barrel???🤣
