The Americans love their " Tile Draining". You were missing the Rubbet Balls hanging off the bottom of the machine to indicate your are " Balls Deep " 😊😅😊😅
Good video as usual. What I found after I put in field drains after they were filled in was to run rotovatar along the drain it helped stop settlement and the ground seemed to drain better than just filling it back in with the digger bucket
Those big trenchless drainers have a shoot to add gravel so surprised they haven’t incorporated one in that machine. It’s certainly fast but think your trencher with gravel will give a better long term job. Your land is actually drier underneath than I would have thought. Not sure I would have tracked it back in though, would it not be better left for a week or so to dry out and settle naturally
Hi Olly love a bit of drainage, be interesting to see how the drain performs on that field if it dries it up in the coming months 🤞🤞 Keep up the great content 🚜🚜
Will the pipes not choke up without stone around them well done Rob with cleaning the chipper made a great job you must have been watching Andrew before he left😂
I love your drainer so simple I’ll bet you can soon drain a field when you get set up Yes there better with stone on the top but it’s so costly Probably would be better on the Quadtrac but like Olly says not everyone has a Quadtrac but the Fendts did very well You can’t do enough draining because you can’t farm wet land Feeling 95% today and Olly brilliant video
Several comments here asking for stone on top of pipe to prevent silting up . Pipe here in Canada and USA available with filter sock already on it . All tile we install has sock due to soil type .
Well 80% finally on respiratory ward on the mend hopefully be home in the next day or two. Cracking videos as always olly and team . Definitely keeps the boredom from setting in whilst in hospital 😊
Super moon is wed so keep a look out. Great bit of kit for draining, could fly along on the quadtrac . Beets divginv with the chain machine and hopefully sort the field out .
We tile piece every year some use three point hitch or cart style just like yours most of ours done with Green Star globe on quad track for weight and traction surveyed grids are 6 or 8 " mains and 40 or 50 ' grids
Hi Olly, Really appreciate the videos showing the good and bad in uk farming. I have one question and it’s not meant to be rude. How an earth do you financially survive when you’re constantly combining such poor crops year in year out. We would be bankrupt and gone here in Nz if it was our operation. I’m picking the farm has multiple income streams to assist with cashflow besides the arable side of the business? Anyway hope that isn’t rude just intrigued as to how you poor buggers survive up there. All the best for the season ahead I hope it’s a better one for you. Cheers from NZ
It’s difficult we have had 3 bad years in last to because of weather lots have given up and gone into stewardship schemes Any one that don’t have rent to pay is just getting by People in better regions will fare better but arable job is tuff with out other incomes
Thanks for your response. Yip agriculture in general is bloody hard yakka at the moment all over the world. There is definitely an agenda amongst left leaning governments to destroy and cripple farming. We were in all sorts of trouble here in Nz under our labour and bloody Ardern government. But luckily we voted them out and things are gradually returning to a slight sense of normal. Don’t envy you with your current mob in power. They won’t last when people see through them though👍
Kudos to the fendt, didn't think it would have the grip, I thought the quad track from the get go. Im guessing the Fendt has better gps, and software for the depth control.
Voice of experience here for tile draining: There is an equation to determine the ratio of pipe centres to pipe depths Deeper pipes can be further apart... and vice versa Pre rip the panned stuff, for grip its best to drive on a hard surface, not cultivated.. A disc is not going to do much good Tracking the soil heave back down with the slew is perfect Takes at least one full season for the drains to begin to work properly Do not use the Quadtrac.. final drives will snap like carrots.. Its usual to put permeable backfill ...gravel..to help the drains ... Good luck
I would be concerned the clay would block the perforations in the pipe within a short time. We've done deep drainage 6ft plus trenched out with digger and pipe covered by terf or stone were there's water-springs which is not surface drainage. The machine in the video needs a second hopper behind the pipe backfilling with clean stone with in 12-18inch of surface, when ground closes will render pipe near useless would be as effective to mole plough. Good technique if stone was used.
That tile plow would better behind something on tracks less compaction no tearing up land.Been watching a chap in America using an 850J dozer with plow set up on the ripper using a laser damm good.
Great video Olly, that tile plough is a beast even if you dropped it from 6" to 4"! Today was the start of the harvest moon, it will reach its peak tomorrow Sept 17th around 10:35 pm. 👍.
In my opinion your own machine does a nicer job and i think a better drain. Y I think you need the stone around the pipe to act as filter to prevent the perforation in the pipe blocking and to absorb the water around the pipe.
Evening Olly, another interesting video Not sure if I've missed something, but where's the gravel dispenser There's some power with 2 tractors and 8 wheel drive Draining day or training day lol sure does rip through the field Geoff
@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer excellent, so quicker and material saving, as you said, if you were doing it constantly, definitely worth the investment Thanks Olly, for all your videos and taking the time to reply to questions Take care Geoff
Does the drainer come with it’s own screen or do you need isobus on the tractor. Will be 90% come the weekend hopefully will be done harvest then the fun starts with the potatoes 😊
It’s been like summer here in Devon today. I was working outside tonight and it was gorgeous. The 728 got a good workout, it sounded like it was working hard today. Andrew would be proud of Rob for the job he did on the chipper, it looks fantastic 😀
PX Farms had a good few minutes on Ergot on their latest update. Worst year for years for them. Organic LSD. Is the tile true GPS or RTK? (Real Time Kinematic)
The Americans love their " Tile Draining".
You were missing the Rubbet Balls hanging off the bottom of the machine to indicate your are " Balls Deep " 😊😅😊😅
Putting pipe in hopefully will drag water to it but would prefer to see a hardcore topping on pipe as a filter
Would like to see more of the Bottom Yard , haven’t seen it before !
Good video as usual. What I found after I put in field drains after they were filled in was to run rotovatar along the drain it helped stop settlement and the ground seemed to drain better than just filling it back in with the digger bucket
Would be interesting to see the Quad track doing this😊

Can you show us your whole yard I never realised how big it was
Looks like a good job. I think I would want to incorporate a 2 leg subsoiler to fix the damage cause by the tractor wheels.
Some good photos to choose for the calendar. The full moon is on the 18th. 90% today. Thanks Olly and take care.
Hi Olly that is some bit of kit for putting drainage in would have loved to see it on the quad track 😀😀😀60%
Can see those pipes sitting up. Without stone around them.
Will the pipes not choke up without stone around them well done Rob with cleaning the chipper made a great job you must have been watching Andrew before he left😂

Great Video. Wondering about the no gravel fill though!!
Great video Olly that’s the way too do drainage if you’re doing a whole field definitely a cracking video 👍👍
Awesome video Olly really interesting the twins bossed it
The shackle is a good idea, Have seen video of tractors being pulled apart at the transmission.
Several comments here asking for stone on top of pipe to prevent silting up . Pipe here in Canada and USA available with filter sock already on it . All tile we install has sock due to soil type .
Very interesting video Olly.

Great video olly, I hope the weather have a dry winter, and not huge amounts of rain.
The harvest moon is not until Sunday 22nd of September this year Olly, ( I had to Google it😂). Excellent blog again today.😊
It nice seeing that 300 hp tractor could do it if better conditions. The Quad track would make it a lot simpler since you have one
Great video, proper interesting also ! Love seeing those Fendt Tractors working.
you need a "stiff" bar to join the tractors Ollie!
Pizza for t! Nice. Weather looking good for a couple of days. 80%
Try pizza with fried egg sunny side up. That is really mega.
Can we have a yard tour! Its huge
All the Americans seem to drain without gravel. As our grandfather's did but they often sodded the tiles

Great quick way to drain if pipe works on its own or maybe need an absorbant pipe
Kudos to the fendt, didn't think it would have the grip, I thought the quad track from the get go. Im guessing the Fendt has better gps, and software for the depth control.
Hubby said yes looks like Ergot ! His wheat has been infected with it this year and having hell of a time with black grass too he not a happy chap !

Great vid, what a machine that is
Nice One Olly Thanks again
It's nice not having to put stone in and it's a lot quicker but will the drain be as efficient without stone Olly?
Amazing bit of kit Olly . Great video
Very interesting. Given it seems to be getting wetter in the uk going to be needed more and more.
Was good having bit if chat with you today, I ate more pizza than I probably should of but oh well😂
Watched YT vids of tile ploughs in the US putting in pipes up to 6ft deep, they had at least two tractors to do the job.
Really nice video olly with the title drainer, could you get a adaptor so you could put in gravel on top of pipe. 85%today
Better not to track back in Ollie. Ideally leave over winter to settle naturally
i agree leave it open
Brilliant video well done 👍
Great video Olly some bit of kit that is
That tile plow would better behind something on tracks less compaction no tearing up land.Been watching a chap in America using an 850J dozer with plow set up on the ripper using a laser damm good.
Surely it would be better on the Quadtrack? Were they frightened that it would break the machine?
When it dries out Ollie run the disc over to take the ridge out. Otherwise you'll feel it when harvesting.
Great video Olly, that tile plough is a beast even if you dropped it from 6" to 4"! Today was the start of the harvest moon, it will reach its peak tomorrow Sept 17th around 10:35 pm. 👍.
Would tracking it back not crush the pipe.
Would it not be better too leave settle itself?

Hi Olly 75%only sun is out,
Evening Olly, another interesting video
Not sure if I've missed something, but where's the gravel dispenser

Draining day or training day lol sure does rip through the field
Geoff
No trench to fill so don’t need it
@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer excellent, so quicker and material saving, as you said, if you were doing it constantly, definitely worth the investment
Thanks Olly, for all your videos and taking the time to reply to questions
Take care
Geoff
Surely it will silt up without gravel around the pipe?
Great looking machine did you use pipe with membrane to replace stone?
Good evening olly!
19:08 great content again
Does the drainer come with it’s own screen or do you need isobus on the tractor. Will be 90% come the weekend hopefully will be done harvest then the fun starts with the potatoes 😊
Should have stuck the quad track on that drainer
Olly is the ZD1600 the same size has what's on a Cat D9 ?
I spy that that tiler was made in USA, Indiana l believe?
Good video 👍 95%
Why does Morgan always have the beacons on in the field? 🤷
Would a large disk make it a little easier for the plough ? Maybe stick it on the front .. ?
Ha, just heard you say about a disk ..
Two days till full moon 97%
Thanks 80%
It's a pity Tony is camera shy thou .
Been nice for him to talk more about it thoj .
Yes he can be quite illusive at times…….😂
What is your honest opinion on the implement that you are using? For me I think you would be better with a proper drain pipe and stones on top.
Good way of doing draining , a good bit of kit Olly another great video as always . 85% Today .
Would the digger tracking it back in not crush the plastic pipe? Prob a dumb question but I’m asking coz I’m dumb.
It’s been like summer here in Devon today.
I was working outside tonight and it was gorgeous.
The 728 got a good workout, it sounded like it was working hard today.
Andrew would be proud of Rob for the job he did on the chipper, it looks fantastic 😀
Oli what’s airport ( growing out the grass ?
PX Farms had a good few minutes on Ergot on their latest update. Worst year for years for them. Organic LSD.
Is the tile true GPS or RTK? (Real Time Kinematic)
Could you not put it on the quad track
Hello Olly that looked an impressive is it something u would ever consider investing in 👍👍
If I had lots to do yes but I already have a Shelton one
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmeryea your Shelton does leave it a cleaner finish and for lots of acres it would be perfect 👍👍
Was he pulling it with 728 in High range?
Sounded like it was struggling.
There is only one range in new ones
How come you don’t need to put gravel in those drains?
Quadtrack Machine im Afraid 🥵👍
Are you going to the national ploughing championships in Ireland
Yer on Thur
Sorry, I’m not sold on that tile drainer
They are brilliant when you have difficult ground, such as woodland
Woodland ? How the hell are you gonna pull that through tree roots man 😂😂
@tomandrews9971 not that exact one. Where I used to work hard a tracked trencher that was the same idea as that and they used it for woodland work
I thought ergot was a wheat seed not grass seed drain will silt up without stone
now that was interesting the drainage
Don’t you need some draining stone on top of the pipe. Surly it will fill the pipe with soil.
Not the proper way to do drains, where's the stones ??
10%.
