in a lot of cases, these people don't want to do harm. They just lack skills, money, a proper upbringing themselves. Not giving a damn about something is often the cause of massive frustration. If you make clear you are trying to help, not trying to judge, you get a lot more done.
For example, I don't think the owner was aware that chain was way too heavy for that dog.
Getting angry about it also has to do with frustration, btw. Stress is everything in life... makes us look for food, a partner, love, etc. Not all of us are lucky, or have the right tools to get there. Glad this woman is trying her best for these dogs and owners.

All feeling the same way. If it's maybe for a few hours a day perhaps if she goes to work or something, that's not as bad. But not all day and/or all night! I've had neighbors doing that sort of thing. The dog getting absolutely no attention. It's cruel. Dogs are social animals, they feel pain, the get bored, they love to play and be paid attention to. After seeing how badly the dogs were treated, I was going to be devastated if they left any dogs behind. What a relief to hear her say all of them were taken. Before he surrendered the other dogs I thought, 'well surely they can threaten him with the law, maybe she should tell him 'it's illegal and you’ll get in trouble if you don't surrender them all'. I might have taken that route honestly, anything to prevent their misery. But it was nice to see that kindness can be just as effective, even when it's aimed at an (arguably) unworthy recipient

He understandably felt responsible and you can tell it was a leap for him to give up _all_ the dogs and that's why it's so huge not to come at it from a judgmental place. Maybe he could or would get some back but it gives him the opportunity to _decide_ and only accept what he can handle and still feel good/that he did the right thing to let them go even if it was hard... The most difficult thing about getting animals out of these situations is how badly it can reflect on the owners and what it "means" to have their animals _taken_ on a welfare basis and it can also be pretty awful to feel like people care more about your animal's welfare than they do about yours so remembering to extend at least as much compassion to them as you would the animals _without_ appearing to condescend/criticize is a real tightrope to walk with human behavior and it's nice to see when it actually works out and nobody seems to feel sour or betrayed.

      Dogs in Zoroastrianism Religion :
In Zoroastrianism, the dog is regarded as an especially beneficent, clean and righteous creature, which must be fed and taken care of.
The dog is praised for the useful work it performs in the household, but it is also seen as having special spiritual virtues. A dog's gaze is considered to be purifying and to drive off daevas (demons).
It is also believed to have a special connection with the afterlife: the
Chinwad Bridge to Heaven is said to be guarded by dogs in Zoroastrian scripture, and dogs are traditionally fed in commemoration of the dead. Ihtiram-i sag , "respect for the dog", is a common injunction among Iranian Zoroastrian villagers.
Detailed prescriptions for the appropriate treatment of dogs are found in the Vendidad (a subdivision of the Zoroastrian holy scripture
Avesta ), especially in chapters 13, 14 and 15, where harsh punishments are imposed for harm inflicted upon a dog and the faithful are required to assist dogs, both domestic and stray, in various ways; often, help or harm to a dog is equated with help and harm to a human.
The killing of a dog ("a shepherd's dog, or a house-dog, or a Vohunazga [i.e. stray] dog, or a trained dog") is considered to lead to damnation in the afterlife. A homeowner is required to take care of a pregnant dog that lies near his home at least until the puppies are born (and in some cases until the puppies are old enough to take care of themselves, namely six months).
If the homeowner does not help the dog and the puppies come to harm as a result, "he shall pay for it the penalty for wilful murder", because " Atar (Fire) watches as well (over a pregnant dog) as he does over a woman".
It is also a major sin if a man harms a dog by giving it bones that are too hard and become stuck in its throat, or food that is too hot, so that it burns its throat. Giving bad food to a dog is as bad as serving bad food to a human.
The believers are required to take care of a dog with a damaged sense of smell, to try to heal it "in the same manner as they would do for one of the faithful" and, if they fail, to tie it lest it should fall into a hole or a body of water and be harmed.

"Righteousness for the sake of righteousness alone"
"One good deed is worth a thousand prayers"

Dogs know when they’ve been rescued from a horrible situation. They make the best dogs because they show u so much love. FYI, my dog is a rescue. Found him abandoned on the street where he could’ve been run over by a car. We took him to Humane Society to scan for a microchip and he has none. They told us they can take him and put him up on their website but if no one claims him in 60 days, he will be euthanized. We ended up taking him. Best decision we ever made. My dog gave me so much comfort during this pandemic. He gets separation anxiety if my boyfriend or I leaves to run errands or whatever. I think he went through a really traumatic experience with whoever had him. He doesn’t like being alone. So even though he has 3 beds, one in almost every room, he likes to sleep with us in our bed and we let him most of the time. He’s such a blessing specially because I suffer from anxiety and depression. He gives me comfort. He’s my child since I don’t have kids. He’s my family.

In his mind keeping them home like that give them a place to stay, but he's not aware of the responsibilities. I do wish someone helped him too and I'm glad the dogs are better now. Btw, I came across a homeless man w a dog years ago, and I told him I have a shelter where the dog can be taken care of. He was hesitant at first, but then he agreed and he was hugging the dog tightly and crying. That moment as if someone tapped my shoulder, I didn't want to take the dog away from him and break his heart. I asked him to work for the shelter and can live free in one of the accommodations for the staff, and be with his dog and other dogs! There definitely was physical abuse, when you can see the hip bones and entire rib cage that's neglect. Keeping her tied outside her whole life while she's bred and he sells the puppies hardly makes him innocent. Be sure to ask to see the parents when you buy puppies. I see people all over with purebreds they buy off the internet and not one person agrees they know what the parents looked like or if the new owners asked to see how they live until they are purchased. This video is exactly why the message "Adopt don't shop" came about. Any backyard breeder can pretend they know about dogs and sell them for years before anyone catches onto them. Visit your local shelters and humane societies, whether they are kill shelters or not. Those are the dogs you can buy, not backyard breeder dogs off the internet who post one cute picture and pretend everything's perfect because they know you won't dig deeper.
Nice comments here, awesome. Nice is wonderful. The fight against backyard breeders has not ended as evidenced by the emaciated, starved mother with the giant chain living on dirt her entire pathetic life.

He didn’t want to let the dog go, because she was probably his favorite and with him the longest. Like, after she was listing off the things that the dog needed, I could tell in his voice that he was hesitant but not as if he was worried of getting in trouble- hesitant because he didn’t want to let her go. He truly just seemed unaware of what he was supposed to do to take care of the dogs. I hope he can have another dog some day, when he’s gotten better educated on dogs and how to take care of them, because I’m sure he has a lot of love in his heart.
    EDIT
Someone named Ian Kamau down in the replies of this said, “this story is tied to privilege, poverty, class, and race, I noticed a huge difference in their human living conditions” and this is something I was trying to get across in my comment.
Someone else also said, “he may have a lot of love, but he’s a bad pet owner, because he’s left them in neglect. Rich and educated people can be bad pet owners too for the same reason.” And I wanted to include this because it is true. The man in the video is a bad owner, in the sense that he could’ve given them to someone who could take care of them. He did leave the dogs in neglect. But I do think that if he were capable, he would’ve given the dogs better attention and care himself, because he has a heart for them. He was probably just too sad and scared to give them away.
I knew my comment would be a bit controversial, because it sounds like I’m siding with the guy and saying he’s this perfect pet owner or something. No, I’m not saying that at all. I’m saying that he has love and affection for his dogs, and because of that he let them go so they could be taken care of. And at the same time, it’s because he was so attached them and especially the oldest dog that he didn’t get them to care sooner. He knew they would probably never be returned to him if he did that. It’s not a good thing that he neglected them like this, but I really do believe that if he knew how to properly take care of a dog, and had better income, he would’ve been much better to them. That’s what I was trying to say, to the people who think I’m excusing what happened. I’m one of the few who watched this video and saw more than just a dog rescue saving dogs from a neglectful situation, I also see a man affected by poverty and lack of privilege who just couldn’t take care of his dogs and had to let them go.
And this is coming from someone who usually likes animals much more than dogs, and does not sympathize with any animal abuser in the slightest. But this case really is just a poorly human and poorly dogs, they both need care and attention, they both deserve better.

"One good deed is worth a thousand prayers"
"As long as I have power and am able, I shall teach all to seek for truth and right"

Props to my man for treating his dogs as well as he could and for realizing that this woman was here to help
It’s time to address some of the comments. He never abused them, tried his best to feed them, and only had the dog chained up because he didn’t want her to run away and get hurt. He did the best he could, so don’t get angry because he can’t afford luxury items that we can afford for our dogs like proper dog food and a bed and toys and other things. When he realized that the woman could do a better job at taking care of his dogs, he gave them to her, which shows he truly cares about the dogs and wants what’s best for them. You can’t base your opinions off of just an image alone. Pay attention to the man’s actions and you’ll see. I’m not saying chaining up the dog was the best way to go about it, but it was the only thing he knew to do. There’s also evidence of frequent walks, so he obviously let the dog off of the chain to walk it.
