It has been a great series of videos so far. I am pulling for the PXG, what I play. This test proves that you probably can't go wrong with any of the drivers in the test; it all comes down to what you like.
This Dam channel turned me onto the Tsr3 against my will and its the best all around driver I've ever hit. Can't imagine it lost, but it does spin a tad more than the comp here which makes it ideal on the course
I can imagine the long knuckle balls that look good on the simulator are horrific to see on the course. They only need to be a little off on the start line before they tumble off the planet.
@@dsc-nr5zy I went from TSr3 to Paradym Triple Diamond to cut spin back to TSr3 because of the forgiveness and cold-weather performance. Took me many videos to realize that you lean your body back before the club when you hit fades. Just something I happened to catch on your final swing or the Srixon
Might be too late for this but it’d be cool to do a compilation video showing the best shots from all the test. Would be cool to see in short clips which shots went longest and with which clubs.
You could also consider the ball flights. Srixon seemed like a lot more spiny fades that held their line vs the cobra seemed to be the dedicated draw driver. I work for cobra golf doing demos so I’m biased but such a close match was awesome to see
TBH, I would be scared with the Cobra spin numbers on a golf course. The Srixon seems like a more playable driver. I think future versions should be hitting 12 shots each with the average of the 10 best.
Ian is pretty consistent, and I’m sure he is warmed up already. But I can potentially see giving each driver a mulligan per round. In the Mizuno bracket, he started out at 113 and was 116 in the rest of them.
All I can say is "WOW" to the surprise to see who is in the final. For some reason I think that Cobra will come out on top as the champion 🏆 just because Ian just hits that driver so pure and consistent and that's what counts in golf consistency but let's see what the PXG can do I could be wrong but let's see. Keep up the great content boys!!!
Thanks guys. Distance was great. I know accuracy is largely dependent on Ian’s delivery, but I was kind of disappointed in those results. Looking forward to the finals!
You were disappointed???? What are you expecting?? They averaged over 310yds and around 13yard off line, I think you may have to adjust your expectations. It’s not Rory McIlroy hitting these drivers 😂
Love these brackets! Wondering if adding carry averages into the formula to average out courses that have minimal roll vs the simulator showing perfect conditions of an actual roll out. Is there ever a chance to perfect the numbers with the finalist by fitting the driver with an ideal combo shaft per driver head! Regardless, great test results!
I’m loving my Darkspeed LS and Ventus TR Blue combo. Carried the shaft over from the LTDx LS. Gained a bit of ball speed and find the middle more often. Actually the first time I’ve sniffed 170 consistently with my gamer. I find it very stable and consistent. Best I’ve driven the ball in several years. Now I REALLY need to work on a solid 3 wood option. I really struggled with it last year and still am so far this year.
I wish they made the ZX5 LS in lefty.. I would for sure give it a try. It’s really unfortunate some of Ian’s last swings with the Srixon were pushed so badly.. the dispersion was much better and spin control significantly tighter. I would’ve picked that to move to the final - you have to look between the numbers sometimes.
Us lefty are meant to suffer 😆 but I'm happy with my AI Smoke Max D. I've been pretty consistent on a driving range set up like this. Getting 118mph club head speed 280 carry 315 total distance with a draw. Much better than I have been doing the last few years but we will see how the range translates to the course 😆😂 I'm expecting mishits alllllll day
Pxg probably take the win seems dark horse driver this year. Tried the cobra in a fitting and it just didn’t spin enough for me I could barely get it above 2,000 revs.
The last set with srixon ian ddint swing very well. Either wore out or not a build that suits him or the head. Srixon was the better performer looking from the out side. Cobra was crooked for both sets.
Yeah but the distance makes up for the left and rights. Cobra is the better driver. Will give some thought too the Srixon it did hold its own. It is more accurate it appears but I want speed and distance.
If I saw those results during a fitting, no doubt I’m leaving with the Srixon. The Srixon was noticeably straighter. But that’s why this a “for fun” challenge. Not a what you should buy challenge.
Also, the Srixon pretty took the left side out of play, when the Cobra went both ways. That is a pretty important detail, for real world golf (not launch monitor golf), which they didn't discuss
The speed off the face when you divide it by the swingspeed is on another level with the PXG and the Cobra. I'm seriously wondering if the spring effect might even be too high towards the regulations. I mean they are VERY far off the others. And ballspeed at low spin is the king indoors.
Strikes 1, 4, and 5 were offline. 2 and 3 were really nice 310yd on-line. Just goes to show how “on” you need to be with these drivers at all times. I think I would generally go after the Srixon if it were me, but the Cobra looks like a lot of fun.
Wow! After the first 2 drives with the ZX5 (long and straight) I thought it was over. I picked Cobra in the finals but you have to tip your hat to Srixon. Hard to beat that consistency and giving up 4 yards of distance for the ZX5 ball flight would be a tough thing to do. Great to see the underdogs (PXG and Srixon) performing so well. I’m sticking with PXG as 2024 Champ!
From a fitters perspective, I would be curious what Mikey would fit Ian in and vice versa between these two. I feel I would prefer the ZX5 for myself just because it was a tad straighter and give up a few yards here and there.
I think the srixon was cruising after the 1st round. It was those 2 in the 2nd set that went out to the right 20 yards in the high290’s that lost it I’d imagine

Mike was almost right on the Ball picking Srixon.. It Could have went either way....
Is it worth considering doing two driver brackets? One for LS models and other for standard drivers, LS versions have the low spin advantage and these drivers tend to favour high speed players. It would be great to see the longest standard version as this is what the majority of golfers play therefore would help when picking a new driver. I'd like to point out that 10 yards off line is very impressive. 13 yards is too, but a 20 yard fairway vs a 26 yard fairway is a big difference in competition. The win really needs to go to the srixon here. It should not be just yard for yard subtraction. There needs to be a better formula. Like for 0-10 yards offline no subtraction, for 10-15 yards minus yard for yard away from 10, for 15-30 yards minus 2 yards for each yard away from 15. A drive of 300 that is 25 yards offline would be 300-5-20 for a total of 275. 5 yards for each yard off from 10-15 and 20 yards bc 2x10 for each yard over 15 yards offline.
