So glad you're happy with it! Just wanted to add they're not normally this "shiny", when I've received mine (now Stephanie's) whistle, it was already quite dull and tarnished further very quickly. I've cleaned it with some polishing cloth recently before sending it off to Stephanie so don't be alarmed if yours looks different.
I've just got a High D from them. Been after one for a while as my father had one too. I think the fact they are all handmade by Dave just adds to the fact that each one will be that little bit special.
Update: I learned that Dave Shaw has passed away at age 72. -------------------------- Just a note, I believe Dave Shaw is getting out of whistle making, due to health issues. I emailed about a low D for a project, and his wife said that 'something had to give', and whistles are the most labor intensive of the instruments he makes. Thankfully, they had one low D in stock for me, but they didn't have an alto A or G, and it doesn't sound like any more will be forthcoming.
Nice review.👍 Have you ever heard of a fujara? It's a Slovakian wind instrument. Traditionally played by shepherds in the mountains. Just came across it and the sound is very intriguing. It does have a fipple and it is more dependent on breath control as it only has 3 holes. I'm interested in your take on it. Not sure you want to branch out into other wind instruments but please give it a look. Can find RUclips videos of it, of course. Everything's on RUclips. 😊 Best wishes to you and your family.
I've always quite fancied a Shaw whistle but never owned one. I have placed a few bids over the years on Ebay but got outbid every time. I really like the "Breathy" sound that they have.
Gee you’re amazing! I’ve just started with tin whistle and love it. My first is a Kerry in B. I’ve just purchased and am waiting on a Lir high D (your recommendation). Would you know of a tin whistle that sounds like Chinese bamboo flute?
I love my shaw whistle in f beautiful sound from it Although it has went very dull im thinking on polishing it but not sure what to use any ideas to shine it up would be appreciated 👍
Very useful if you play with anyone who plays piano 😊 or if you play any pop songs. A lot of popular songs are in the key of C, and a G whistle works really well for that!
It's actually my own composition, called Into The Woodland. You'll find the full version and tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/nN6yR193fbA/видео.htmlsi=ZIuOhuuBtNtysmMs

I have always wondered about those whistles. So thanks for the review. Your playing at the end was lovely.

I was very pleased to hear in your magical performance to the most beautiful cover of this amazing music.
Thank you CutiePie
👍👏🌹🌹🌹💕.
I have a Shaw in A and my complaint is trying to get a vibrato with up and down finger movement. Good whistle all in all

I'd love to hear a whistle version of Pokarekare Ana, it's a traditional New Zealand song, and I think it'd suit the timbre of the whistle...
I'm curious when would I use a low G whistle?

What was the tune played at 2:00 ?

❤❤❤❤❤
Average nice tune 'Woodland' as well as being a cool title 😊
Great tone on it. Tuning doesn't seem great. Might be tough to play with other instruments.
The tuning's not bad to be honest! You'd just need a little time with it to know how much breath each note needs 😊
Like deployed 👍
sounds awful
