It is amazing! If only all SMS games had this quality of music. I had so much fun with my SMS but most songs on the system only made use of the dog whistle sounds 😉
The fact no one has mentioned Yuzo Koshiro's AMAZING soundtrack for this game is almost insulting. Mr. Koshiro and Ancient were making bops far before we knew what was happening. This is incredible.
@@wolf0s617 its seems alrighty, but its not my type of style if you get what im saying. There's actually 2 I found before as well that I think is a good version of it.
oh my god how did you manage to do that in isolation the timbres are perfect and legitimate to the original is it not possible that synthesized again managed to access the midi files or isolated samples of the game? this is perfect this song is a masterpiece it's crazy all these synths playing at the same time it sounds like it was made by the gods, today I'm 26 it's the first time I've heard it like this it's kinda tricky trying to get the first two synths right by ear 🤣
This is my tune. My frequency. I have vibrated to this ever since I got this far in Sonic the Hedgehog on my MasterSystem II back in 1992 at the age of 5. I am in a time loop and I love it. Pure perfection.
Comparing this and Labyrinth Zone with the GEN/MD versions, the GG/MS sound way more better, despite being just 4 PSGs. 4:16 EVERYBODY NOW 5:07 Stereo version
The Master System version is basically the Game Gear version, which is worth playing for the soundtrack alone and can be found in a few places such as Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Sonic Adventure DX.
02:35 It may be a bit old for a lot of you, but does anyone else think this sounds kinda like a part of the theme for Dizzy the adventure game, from the 80s microcomputers?
Indeed, even down to the same sound chip used in the Master System and Game Gear, the Texas Instruments SN76489. The only thing is that on the Game Gear, the sound was given stereo mixing capability where each channel could be hard panned left or right, or kept in the center (much like on the Game Boy too), so some Game Gear titles made use of the rudimentary stereo.
@@lazsynth Thanks for that! Interesting that the Game Gear had stereo... I used to play mine with Headphones all the time and probably never paid attention then.
Hot tip: If you're a remixer getting into Sonic, doing Genesis versions of Scrap Brain and Labyrinth are sure to get you views :) Seriously, I love Koshiro's songs. They're so good Edit: I like how you've been adding stereo in post; it would've been awesome for the actual SN chip to have stereo but it doesn't. Nice touch :)
I am impressed by the fact that these songs make 1 channel sound like 2 at the very least.

Technical limitations can really bring out a composer's creativity and it's a wonderful thing
@@nthgth Well said!
I don't see how this makes 1 channel look like 2...
@@aleksavasic2612 sound like 2, meaning that they stretched the limitations of 1 channel so far that it sounds like 2 channels are being played
That shift into stereo at 5:06 was unexpected, but I really liked it. It's surprising just how much extra depth this track has with it.
yeah it’s really noticeable through the earphones
based d.a. garden
for sure

I've always like this version a little bit more than the genesis version
Siivagunner did a rip that this but in the genesis soundfont. It's really good, you should check it out! It's the scrap brain zone (beta mix)

@@wolf0s617 you mean “Genesis soundchip?”
@@wolf0s617 I like the one by Retrostalgia Zone.
Sonic’s Game Gear and Master System soundtracks being as good as or better than the Genesis counterpart, as usual.
Simply better
@@ssg-eggunner wouldn’t say better, but Yknow. Opinions.
@@ssg-eggunner for once I finally agree with you
That echo in PSG 2 is 👌
It's amazing how this tune really makes it seem like the sms/gg had an extra sound channel.
this is THE BEST 8-bit music for me

Same feeling here, i played Sonic on my Master System in 1993 +-... wow, why i'm crying?

4:16 EVERYBODY NOW
5:07 Stereo version
It's almost like PSGs 0 & 2 are dueling.
Excited for sky base 🤩
This is better than the genesis scrap brain and I've never played the master system version. Yuzo Koshiro is amazing

How do they pull off that delay-like effect using only one channel? I don't understand it and it sounds amazing.
Turning the sound on and off in rapid succession
I like how bass melody takes same style like Genesis one but is still different.
the snares on SMS sounds pretty cool! Love it.
This track was always one of my favorites

Funny how know one's mentioned PSG 4 or 3 as it is here. That driving percussion sound the Master System is known for driving the melody constantly.
why isn't anyone talking about how PSG 0 sounds like a level from decap attack?
i think decap attack also used a similar style of echo on a couple of its main synths with just a single channel
I’ve never played this game, only the Genesis 1. And scrap brain on genesis is my favorite song in the game. This sounds really cool!
I guess it's time to deconstruct knuckles' theme from sonic and knuckles
Excellent job
How do u know I love Sonic!
Thank you for this, MS Scrape Brain is one of my favourites, feel it should of been used instead of the MD/G version
Top 10
Was the Master System and the GG the exact same music?
yup

a forgotten masterpiece music

The Game Gear's variant of the SN7 actually is capable of stereo, though it sadly wasn't used often.
Correct, but I'm talking about the Master System
When will there be some rocket night adventure songs?
FINALLY!
One Channel With echo is crazy 😭
Sonic 1 forever boss attack.
Heck Yes
How do I activate the Oscilloscope view?
WHAT ARE THE [Instruments] USED FOR [Drowning] CAUSE IM [Remaking] IT
The drowning is just a high-pitched square wave beep that gets more and more frequent.
i actually prefer this over the genesis one lol
Now only 1 is missing the lost life music were sonic die
And im forget the screen intro music or tittle music
