I love my 2021 Shasta 26DB, I feel Shastas are simple yet durable TT’s. Josh I’ve been a big fan of your RV reviews. So I was very excited when I saw a Shasta on your feed. To hear what you think of the brand. And about those pockets on either side of the bed. My wife and I use long utensils trays and put things like keys, phones & wallets.
yes please show more of the Shasta line of trailers , the 2300 lbs cargo # is crazy for a budget level or entry level price point most brands like Wildwood will put under size axles on there trailers at this price point
K.I.S.S principle in full effect here! Get you a couple tv trays or a little folding table and you got yourself some dinofa action going on. Always like to see a big pantry. Plenty of space for my pop-tarts! I appreciate they didn't worry about outside speakers. Were those 30 gallon propane tanks in front?!? 😮This is just a nice entry level rig for a young (or older) couple.
the stealing the steps move.... i love it.... that is dedication to the customer, i used to work at a center that rented to own all forms of home items, and would repossess them if you were just a few days late on payment sometimes... we used to do similar.... and it always worked out in the customers favor when we had to for some reason. end up with a higher value item for the lower price just becaue of some.... unforseen issue or possible screw up even, on our end. cannabalize a projection tv bulb from a rather new tv to put in the older one dude bought because that one went out a week later, now he has new bulb no charge, and the relatively new tv it came out of gets a brand new one again when comes in.. we did it so the first customer would not have to wait a week or more with no tv... we could fix it within an hour doing this... win for both tv customers. (about 15 or so years ago, those models were not around long compared to others)... love the trailer in general also, one of my favorite type floor plans that are non toy hauler models of this size... light and basic is best for this size and price point... increases storage capacity a bit... if i was shopping one of those take this one or nothing for the right price thing... as no other options (like private party sales, or my finance situation allows for this but not that etc)... yes i would buy it. nothing wrong with it for what it is at all. almost fully usable closed in turtle mode.... about all you cant do is lay out theatre seats... np..... all that storage allows you to bring whatever you want that is not included to your choices, including the outside kitchen lol.... far as that goes i would take it regardless, still outside my budget lol.... that used lot down the road is more in line with my finances personally..... but i do love seeing all these things of all types, 4k rigs to 4 million dollar rigs.... they all have their good points and bad.... would you like to trade jobs for a couple weeks?... i will go review rv and explore, and you can work in my place for me, deal craps (dice game) in a las vegas casino. this not where i work, but a good example of what you will be doing. ruclips.net/video/SqE7ayZ9gn8/видео.html right now i just deal that game, one of the 3 in same shirts.... but i am qualified and have done the job of supervising 6 of those tables at once, the boss above the boss sitting among them. the dude in the suit you do not piss off or large men in uniforms remove you from my presence.
Nice couples camper. I wish Forest River would put a window in their doors. It has plus and some drawbacks but for the most part a lot of people will like it!
I am digging this one. Just enough fluff without the extra price tag. I would like a hard shower door or at least one of those curtains on a track so you don't get attacked in a little shower but that's just me. :-)
Wow!!! That is surprisingly functional. It would be great for the weekender or a couple with one small child. Definitely not a full time or long term thing but great for a week. Definitely need a TV so you can watch NASCAR on Sunday. But other than that it looks great. Love the large 12v fridge and love the bathroom storage cabinet. Pat
Love your humor. The reason that you video in the rain is because we all have a little kid in us🤣. Josh when are you going to do a video of you singing in the rain😂. Josh I thought that Shasta was a soft drink. This one I’ll give a nine, you👍👍👍👍👍👍, keep’m coming, don’t fall in the mud, then you would be a Mud Duck😂😂
I was the one asking about the Shasta (different model though-the 18FQ. The bathroom layout is a bit unusual). 🙋♀️ But I'll take this! I'm definitely on the side of the lighter weight, smaller, basic camper. I suspect with the economy and gas prices, it might become the norm for a while. For the bedside cubbies, I would look for a narrow, shallow basket or bin to put in there to act as a drawer. I think most people would probably switch out any included tv for their own preferred brand so not including one is not a big deal. I like the number of outlets and the placement. I like the amount of storage. Yay for pocket-screwed cabinets! Oh, and regarding the customer service at the beginning....way for Bish's to 'step' up to the plate! ba dum tss
Your videos are great👍🏻 We have a 2020mshasta 25rk and we absolutely love it - the Color’s are different (better in ours I think). Interesting that this one doesn’t have solar prep - ours does
As you say, this is a great implementation of a standard design. I *REALLY* like the wider shower instead of a radius shower. Upgrading to a porcelain toilet would be a nice improvement. I wish that the kitchen sink was in the corner of the L so that there were more working/dining space on the end of the counter run. I would definitely upgrade to a full queen mattress. The bedside storage would be improved if they just left an open space below the hanging storage. I would consider this model even without those improvements; but this could go from really good to great with just a few tweaks. Thanks for another solid review.
First of all: Thank you Secondly - I think one of the benefits of a model like this is how the cost savings allows people to apply little updates and tweaks like that while still likely saving overall vs a “loaded up” version of this layout
I like it, would love to see more of these , this level Another question, once the slide is in, is it usable? can i sit on that sofa with the slide in ?
I'm not in-depth familiar with shasta's construction & EXACTLY how they do their slide. Until verified I would recommend to presume you cannot for safety-sake A team member on site can dive into that for you as needed!
Josh, I'm kind of new to rv shopping. Have you ever done a review of LIV trailers? I just saw an ad and they look interesting. I like their no wood selling point, but don't know if it's hype or not. Simple, lightweight, and cheap is what I'm attracted to! 😆
Im interested in this style of camper. Im plannin on coming up in a week to check out some relative alike floorplans. I am wanting one to homestead out of.
I had a 2014 Oasis bunkhouse and I have to say that they have stepped up their game from what I had. Mine was very basic and very starter class with much cheaper drawers and doors. The sink was plastic and the tub was terrible. I swore I would never look at an Oasis again but this may change my thoughts about that
Yeah they used to have the Oasis entry level model and the Reverse Step-up model. They kind merged the two and now just have the "Shasta" without two split members of the family. I think focusing in like that did them a lot of good
This camper is much better than expected. A surprising amount of natural light inside. It has an efficient layout. I was expecting to see wheel cutouts on the inside, but there are none. With the lower accessory count, comes lighter weight, and a lighter price. The colors on the inside are better than expected. This puppy has great ground clearance, and the rear sewer pipes are tucked WAY up out of harms reach. With a Timbren trailing arm axle less suspension, this trailer would have a good off road capability. (Gentle off road use!). The slide mechanism on this looked a bit different. Which one is it? I liked the peninsula island kitchen much better than I thought I would. It sticks out about 4 to 6 inches to far for road mode access, but for deployed use, it’s just about perfect. I like the linen closet in the bathroom. But it compromises knee room to much. A fix for that would be to remove the lower 24 inches of cabinet and put a rounded cutout in the cabinet side walls to provide more knee space. The skylight bump in the shower roof solves the headroom issue. I would forgo the steady steps for the door an use the retractable 3 step arrangement. I would even consider making those the motorized auto deploying ones. I normally am a stickler for wanting a peeper window in the door, I could make an exception in this case. Nah, still want that item. I like the graphics extended across the door. Nice touch. The silver steel wheels are a good esthetic fit for this trailer. A nice touch on this would be a pair of those retro Shasta wings on the back and that light blue or soft yellow siding to bling up the look on this unit. But I do think this trim silver and white color is pretty good too. I think this one I’d solidly 1/2 ton towable. It is solidly in the 5000 to 6000 weight class fully loaded. Heck, you might even be only 4600 to 4700 pounds if packed lightly. Do they offer this model and layout in a non slide unit configuration?
I really like the lighter finishes and storage in this camper. The kitchen counter space is very good in this and it has the larger refrigerator plus pantry space. I would appreciate a little bit wider drawers in the kitchen as I think it would be easier to hold a standard utensil organizer if the drawers were wider. But you can probably work around that. The camp Queen is not ideal but it looks like there's a way around that as you said and I appreciate the sidestand space and the hanging space around the bed. I'm curious as to what the storage space looks like beside the refrigerator as the doors I don't believe we're open when you showed your full view. I'm not sure if there's additional hanging space over there or if there are built and shelves for the pantry space. The sofa seat looks pretty decent and you're right I think it makes a wonderful dog bed! I think I would tend to carry some foot stools that I could use in front of the sofa to put my feet up on and then at night possibly use them underneath the bed to support the additional length of the residential queen mattress I would have to put in there. I really appreciate the fact that there's a rectangular shower rather than a tub and I don't think the leg space is an issue for me but it is a bit tight in the bathroom. The one camper my family owned was a Shasta back in the very early 1970s so seeing this brand still around is a little nostalgic for me. I didn't realize Forest River was owned by Berkshire Hathaway. I live in Omaha which is the home of Berkshire Hathaway so there you have that for what it's worth. I appreciate seeing some of these smaller campers for those who are in the market for an affordable weekend camper.
@@JoshtheRVNerd yep. I live right near Mr. Buffet. He still lives in the same house he bought 50 years ago. A pretty regula guy from what I understand.
Wow. I'm surprised as the positive response this one had. I kind of expected people to knock its head off since it isn't loaded to the gills with fancy stuff Instead I'm *really* impressed with our audience and how they're really seeing and understanding the different "trim levels" and tiers of things out there
Hey, Josh! I'm looking for something more off road. Are there any decent trailers that are also off road and won't make you feel like you're sleeping in someone's lap?
Not directly, though they're a subsidiary and "sister" to the Jayco RVs we offer here. Their stick and tin models are VERY similar to a Jay Flight While their laminated models are essentially Highland Ridge RVs (Starcraft and Highland are actually essentially the same company behind the scenes btw)
I like the minimalism, the L shaped counter feels like an improvement over my RockStaff. And the bathroom by the rear door makes for excellent road mode, even if you can't get at the bed. The one thing to make it better would be windows in the side of the slider. That sofa inside the slider feels claustrophobic. The biggest mishap is those little cubbies by the bed. Anything that gets pushed to the back would be lost forever! Either make it a drawer, or leave it completely open space as other trailers do. i wonder if Shasta was trying to differentiate, "fixing" something that wasn't broken.
Cute little couples camper! But, it needs struts on the bed,it needs pull out drawers next to the bed, not pockets! Would like a light in the pantry or in front of the pantry. And a window in the door would give you more light. Needs a theater seat cause the jackknife sofa is horrible! But overall, nice couples camper!
lol I was just talking to East to West about getting rid of them yesterday. The Product manager to whom I was speaking said "you know.. I've had all sorts of different RVs over the years. They've all had outside speakers. I've never used them. I use a speaker just like you said... and I never thought about that" I think outside speakers are something that may slowly fade over time
Awww, this one is sold and the link goes to a different floor plan. And here I was going to ask if I would get a discount if I bought it "as is" (no stairs, ding in the siding). LOL! I was more intrigued by this one than I expected to be since I've been avoiding the wood and siding trailers in favor of Azdel or fiberglass. I also like that it has a huge CCC. Maxed out it'd be too much for my truck, but if I limited myself to 1k or less of cargo weight it'd be fine. I like the idea of NOT maxing out the CCC and the axles just for general wear and tear purposes.
The link is correct - it looks like we sold out of these pretty quickly actually. Sorry about that! Last I saw it was running roughly in the low to mid 20's but the team on site can help verify for you

Greetings Josh Thank you again for your professional presentation Josh. I like this trailer I find that its floor plan is beautiful and functional, but I don't understand why put à front door without à window, and I Wonder why a manufacturer doesn't possibly think about putting a fully glazed door in the trailer with an integrated blind and in the Windows and especially not a frosted glass. Thank you again Josh ! good end of day to the next.
Windows in the doors = Cost which is why some brands don't do it. They'll either save the cost off the price tag or use those dollars elsewhere in the RV

Do you guys still do RV rentals? I live in Hillsdale and remember watching a video of yours awhile back and mentioned something about being able to rent an RV through you guys, but that was before you guys changed your name.
Don’t know if this is even possible, but looking for a small trailer or 5th wheel to take to grad school, would definitely need a 4 or all season capability as I would be in mountains potentially. I am looking for one with enough space to leave a small traveling spinning wheel out without tripping over it or constantly having to move it around.
HEY UNCLE J, LONG TIME NO CONVERSATIONAL…..I LIKEE THIS SHASTA, ALTHOUGH IM A “ CHUNKY MONKEY”OF SORTS , THE BATHROOM WOULD BE A LITTLE TIGHT ON DA LEGROOM, IS A 1/2 UPPER CABINET DO-ABLE INSTEAD? ALSO IS THERE A DEALER NEAR SAN DIEGO AREA….OR 100 Miles of ?
This floor plan solves many of the problems we have with our Freedom Express 204RD. The bathroom is much better and in a better location. The gray and black tanks are larger. It's weight is very close to the 204RD. The one thing it doesn't have is a dinette. Is a dinette an option instead of the sofa?
Josh, I have a semi-related question. Do you know if Shasta 5th wheels are the same as Chaparral but the labeling. They appear the same other than the wood tones. Also do you carry the Shasta Phoenix 5th wheels at Bishs
Good eye! You're absolutely correct! Phoenix and Chaparral are literally 100% the same thing I don't see where we currently have any Phoenix models in our lineup but here's some chaparrals bit.ly/3IHihx4 if you'd like to look/compare
@@JoshtheRVNerd Pretty low cost ones. 1.Extend the side stands so the left side matches the right one, and allows for a truly enormous lower passthrough. 2. Add in a CPAP pocket / outlet at the head of each side of the bed. 3. One more light centered directly over the kitchen sink. I know those things are spendy, but that is a huge need at night. 4. Ditch the oven, move the microwave under the stove, and add another cabinet up top. Everything else is very easily end user modifiable, and should be left to keep the cost down.
I like the idea of a simple, well-built, affordable travel trailer. I have no interest in having a television or audio system at all. I just want the basic features that this model offers.
See I'm similar. I don't need fancy gadgets I like them. They're fun. But that's not why I'm camping. BUT I also get there are plenty of people spending more time in their RVs who may need those Glamptastic features
Well built & travel trailer don’t belong in the same sentence. Like most products built today if you get 5-7 yrs out of one of these trailers your lucky.
In the word: yes. But I have over 6000 videos on this channel and we have thousands of RVs in stock. Is there anything you’re looking for specifically that could help me narrow this down? There’s so many opportunities I don’t really know where to begin.
Around a month ago? Close to that? When I go off-site I spend all day during working hours batch recording since my time there is limited. Then, I work to roll that stuff out consistently while back home at my Southern Michigan store So record date and posting date sometimes have a gap between them I also don't want to flood the channel with too much of the same thing at one time -- like the truck campers I recorded in Salt Lake City. One a week seems plenty. I don't want to lock the channel down for a week solid with nothing but truck campers (or whatever) if that makes sense
@@JoshtheRVNerd Yea, I totally get the time lag, a number of RUclipsr's (is that a word?) I follow do the same. We cruise through that location quite often and bought our first camper there 20 years ago. Currently eyeing the Imagine 2600RB which you covered quite well on your Idaho series. Knowing that floor plan is copied by many others, which mfg. do you feel does it best?
So this would definitely be half ton towable. But some midsized can do almost 7000 lbs. you think a midsize pickup is too little to pull that? Just out of curiosity.

To hear what you think of the brand. And about those pockets on either side of the bed. My wife and I use long utensils trays and put things like keys, phones & wallets.
Ty for sharing this Edwin! I can see the appeal. Simple is fine as long as it’s well done
4:09 yeah, I like this decor 👍🏽
TY Sam!
yes please show more of the Shasta line of trailers , the 2300 lbs cargo # is crazy for a budget level or entry level price point most brands like Wildwood will put under size axles on there trailers at this price point
I think it’s a cover for 30’s but 20lb tanks
the stealing the steps move.... i love it.... that is dedication to the customer, i used to work at a center that rented to own all forms of home items, and would repossess them if you were just a few days late on payment sometimes... we used to do similar.... and it always worked out in the customers favor when we had to for some reason. end up with a higher value item for the lower price just becaue of some.... unforseen issue or possible screw up even, on our end. cannabalize a projection tv bulb from a rather new tv to put in the older one dude bought because that one went out a week later, now he has new bulb no charge, and the relatively new tv it came out of gets a brand new one again when comes in.. we did it so the first customer would not have to wait a week or more with no tv... we could fix it within an hour doing this... win for both tv customers.
I dislike showing RVs that aren't "complete" but was glad it was for really about the best reason I could imagine
Never was a gambler. It's not really gambling if you're always losing. It's just called "Losing" lol :)
Nice couples camper. I wish Forest River would put a window in their doors. It has plus and some drawbacks but for the most part a lot of people will like it!
Each brand handles things differently
Some like Rockwood do include door windows and shades
I am digging this one. Just enough fluff without the extra price tag. I would like a hard shower door or at least one of those curtains on a track so you don't get attacked in a little shower but that's just me. :-)
Yeahs it’s “smarter class”
It's definitely a glamper compared to a tent! I really like this one.
You know.. I love this. Perspective is a wonderful thing

Thanks for showing it with the slideout brought in. Thurow walkthrough.
Ty Todd!!
Awesome video Josh!
Great floor plan an a person could do their own fixing up an solar install nice camper
Nice layout, good decore, hopefully it has a good price point.
Oh, and regarding the customer service at the beginning....way for Bish's to 'step' up to the plate! ba dum tss
step up lol :)
Like seeing more affordable units like this. Thanks!
Our pleasure! I know they don't get the most views but that's not what I'm about. I like folks to know we have something for everyone here
Your videos are great👍🏻 We have a 2020mshasta 25rk and we absolutely love it - the Color’s are different (better in ours I think). Interesting that this one doesn’t have solar prep - ours does
Stickntin siding is a royal pain in the back side to find. Good luck on the repair!

"It's just a flesh wound!" ⚔️
As you say, this is a great implementation of a standard design. I *REALLY* like the wider shower instead of a radius shower. Upgrading to a porcelain toilet would be a nice improvement. I wish that the kitchen sink was in the corner of the L so that there were more working/dining space on the end of the counter run. I would definitely upgrade to a full queen mattress. The bedside storage would be improved if they just left an open space below the hanging storage.
I would consider this model even without those improvements; but this could go from really good to great with just a few tweaks. Thanks for another solid review.
First of all: Thank you
Secondly - I think one of the benefits of a model like this is how the cost savings allows people to apply little updates and tweaks like that while still likely saving overall vs a “loaded up” version of this layout
Nice little Shasta camper! Though the legroom in the bathroom would not work for me the Kitchen is a very good layout!👍👍👍👍👍😊😊
Are you rather tall?

I like it, would love to see more of these , this level
Another question, once the slide is in, is it usable? can i sit on that sofa with the slide in ?
I'm not in-depth familiar with shasta's construction & EXACTLY how they do their slide. Until verified I would recommend to presume you cannot for safety-sake
A team member on site can dive into that for you as needed!
Josh, I'm kind of new to rv shopping. Have you ever done a review of LIV trailers? I just saw an ad and they look interesting. I like their no wood selling point, but don't know if it's hype or not. Simple, lightweight, and cheap is what I'm attracted to! 😆
My parents first camper was a Shasta , brought back some good memories , oh by the way that was 1968.
I like the rectangle shower over the radius style. Turning sideways will make it feel roomier lol
True!!
That's A Good Weekender
I think that's a really solid way of looking at her. Cheers
I think focusing in like that did them a lot of good
10:41 we tend to say the same thing here in WPA 🤣
I have not seen something like this exactly without a slide but a lot of people ask for it
I would like to see more Shasta couples campers. Do you have any Star Craft couples campers specifically a FQ
Really like this!
I did not realize Berkshire Hathaway was based out of Ohama!
@@JoshtheRVNerd yep. I live right near Mr. Buffet. He still lives in the same house he bought 50 years ago. A pretty regula guy from what I understand.

16:04 #NotNew & I’ve added this RV to my list of favorites for future reference 👍🏽
Wow. I'm surprised as the positive response this one had. I kind of expected people to knock its head off since it isn't loaded to the gills with fancy stuff
Instead I'm *really* impressed with our audience and how they're really seeing and understanding the different "trim levels" and tiers of things out there
Also, you should check out the 21CK. Its even bigger and LIGHTER! Dont know how that math works...
Added to my list!!
Hey, Josh! I'm looking for something more off road. Are there any decent trailers that are also off road and won't make you feel like you're sleeping in someone's lap?
Can you clarify the type of off road use you mean? That’s a phrase that gets tossed around a lot
Dirt roads?
Light trails?
Something more rugged?
Man so many great RVs & much good info , but the RV for me has to be a large COMMODE room for my massive assive . Good stuff Josh 👍🙋,💣🚽💥💥
Wait until you see the wildwood I just recorded. Ideal for individuals with massive assets.
I would like to see more Shasta and other small couples friendly campers. Do you have any Star Craft couples campers?
Not directly, though they're a subsidiary and "sister" to the Jayco RVs we offer here.
Their stick and tin models are VERY similar to a Jay Flight
While their laminated models are essentially Highland Ridge RVs
(Starcraft and Highland are actually essentially the same company behind the scenes btw)
Thanks for getting back to me so fast.
Good unit for its size and maybe an affordable price for the new campers.
I think shastas goal (and I am just guessing here) was to make something function with a primary focus on being budget friendly
I would love to see the shasta 26bd! Thanks
Ty for the idea
Cute little couples camper! But, it needs struts on the bed,it needs pull out drawers next to the bed, not pockets! Would like a light in the pantry or in front of the pantry. And a window in the door would give you more light. Needs a theater seat cause the jackknife sofa is horrible! But overall, nice couples camper!
I think a more "premium" series model might work best for your preferences. Nothing wrong with that!
You know what I like best about this one? They don't have those stupid outdoor speakers.
lol I was just talking to East to West about getting rid of them yesterday. The Product manager to whom I was speaking said "you know.. I've had all sorts of different RVs over the years. They've all had outside speakers. I've never used them. I use a speaker just like you said... and I never thought about that"
I think outside speakers are something that may slowly fade over time
Awww, this one is sold and the link goes to a different floor plan.
Last I saw it was running roughly in the low to mid 20's but the team on site can help verify for you
I really like this one .
I find beauty in the simplicity of things. Just feels like less to go wrong.

Thank you again for your professional presentation Josh.
@@JoshtheRVNerd thank you Josh! For answering me, you who are familiar with the field of recreational vehicles. Thank you for your relevant answer regarding the addition of à glass door on an RV.

This floor plan solves many of the problems we have with our Freedom Express 204RD. The bathroom is much better and in a better location. The gray and black tanks are larger. It's weight is very close to the 204RD. The one thing it doesn't have is a dinette. Is a dinette an option instead of the sofa?
There is not but try this one m.ruclips.net/video/MkXvAnQGqtQ/видео.html
Josh, I have a semi-related question. Do you know if Shasta 5th wheels are the same as Chaparral but the labeling. They appear the same other than the wood tones. Also do you carry the Shasta Phoenix 5th wheels at Bishs

I don't see where we currently have any Phoenix models in our lineup but here's some chaparrals bit.ly/3IHihx4 if you'd like to look/compare
Simple camper. Decent execution. A couple small misses that would add a ton of use for very little cost.
What kind of small improvements would you make??
@@JoshtheRVNerd
Pretty low cost ones.
@@Timothy_Smith I like all of this
Just seen this at the Novi show. Yep this is what I want.
I was there! Hope I bumped into you
Not a bad trailer actually.
Can this fit in a garage? Looking for something to use primarily for home office.
Obviously depends on the door height. Most conventional vehicle doors? Likely not.
I like the idea of a simple, well-built, affordable travel trailer. I have no interest in having a television or audio system at all. I just want the basic features that this model offers.
See I'm similar. I don't need fancy gadgets
I like them.
Do you have something a bit bigger than that that looks as good as this
In the word: yes. But I have over 6000 videos on this channel and we have thousands of RVs in stock. Is there anything you’re looking for specifically that could help me narrow this down? There’s so many opportunities I don’t really know where to begin.
Does it have a black tank flush?
Perfect for the single man who wants to get away and do a little fishing.
When did you shoot all these clips in Eldridge?
Around a month ago? Close to that?
When I go off-site I spend all day during working hours batch recording since my time there is limited. Then, I work to roll that stuff out consistently while back home at my Southern Michigan store
So record date and posting date sometimes have a gap between them
I also don't want to flood the channel with too much of the same thing at one time -- like the truck campers I recorded in Salt Lake City. One a week seems plenty. I don't want to lock the channel down for a week solid with nothing but truck campers (or whatever) if that makes sense
@@JoshtheRVNerd Yea, I totally get the time lag, a number of RUclipsr's (is that a word?) I follow do the same.
