      🦋🦇😍 she is amazing and I am grateful that she is holding on to the conditions she has to tolerate in the coming months, again! Not concerned about the temperatures, because she has that tolerance, but the light and day temps... so far so good 🙏🏼👍🏼 thank you so much for watching, Robert! I so appreciate your support... wow!! 🙏🏼❤️🌸

    Hi Nina, thanks for sharing this video, it brings back memories of the antennatum I owned in my previous orchid life. What an amazing plant that was, it hardly took a break from blooming or growling new canes, I loved it, but it was sold with the rest of my collection when health issues took over my life. It will be another orchid I will admire from a distance in your collection. Thanks again Nina.

      Hi Renate 😍💐 it truly is an amazing plant and for a species, to grow and bloom like this...I love species orchids that do that! I had a 2.0 collection as well at some point, Renate! While I did not sell that collection, I gave it up because my then fiance said that when we move in together, the orchids couldn't join us. So, not to be 'silly' and show that my relationship meant everything to me, I gave that collection up. Turns out I was in a mentally abusive relationship, but while in it, I did not see the signs. I mourn that collection and feel as though I let all those orchids down. Picked human values as opposed to my loyal treasured plants. A hard lesson to learn, but it will not be repeated! 🥹 I am happy that I can grow this orchid for you to enjoy, even if at a distance 🫶🏼❤️ hope you had a wonderful day and wish you a fabulous Friday 🌸

      @@NinjaOrchids thanks for the reply Nina, it seems we all have a tough time somewhere in our lives. I have to say I’m luck to have a great husband who I sometimes haven’t appreciated enough in our 56 years married but he’s put up with a lot due to all the health issues I’ve had and he’s stuck with me through it all. I had to sell off my thousands of orchids due to becoming paraplegic and now wheelchair bound. At present I have an obsession with my houseplants as well as the small collection of orchids. I tried my hand at African Violets but gave up after 12 months of killing them off. I dread to think how much money I’ve wasted on plants that haven’t survived my care. Thanks again Nina, I know I sometimes ask the silliest questions considering how many orchids I’ve owned over the years. Enjoy the weekend to come and happy orchid growing.

    🦒💐👋💕 Antelope types, always loved the name and your description of the similarity with the animal is just right and so vivid ❤ A type of Dendrobium I never thought of having but which I can admire in your collection. Not because I don't like them but for logístic reasons mostly and we cannot have them all. Thanks for highlighing this beauty, always a pleasure to be able to see such a happy specimen orchid 💝😘🤗🤗😘

      FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 good morning, meine liebe Freundin! That visual of the horns showing above the grass, its wonderful!! So peaceful, because on safari there is not supposed to be loud noises. Even if you are surprised by something, there is more like a whisper of awe and not a loud noise. Don't want to spook the wildlife 😊 its a wonderful atmosphere! Even the driver cuts the engine so that you can hear everything! Yes, there are rules on Safari 😅 I loved those excursions 🥹 I was thinking of dividing mine in a couple of years to send you a piece, but I thought that it might give you the same anxious moments, as it does me during the winter months. I would not wish that for you, so ... the thought had crossed my mind but, unless something changes and we win the lottery, know that if I were to divide her, you would get the piece IF there is an ease of growing and enjoying her. I don't need orchids that stress me out, and I am projecting that on you 😬 thank YOU so much for watching, and letting me reminisce about my Safaris!! I hope that your day is already beautiful, amiga mia 🫶🏼❤️🐾❤️🌸

      @@NinjaOrchids Thank you dear Nina for thinking of me. I have a weakness for specimen size plants and in view of that I hope you don't have to divide such a beauty anytime soon. But one thing is what we like and another thing is what we can. Also situations in life don't always change for the worst, they can change for the better or vice versa and so if such a day comes that you have to divide it, I may be able to accept your generous offer. Who knows? My collection may have reduced and indoor space has become vacant... One year at a time !!! Much love to you, amiga mia 💖💖💖💖💖💖

    Love those blooms. Sure is a big one. Ive got a Dendrobium Little Norman+ with i forget. That has just started to bloom from old growth tips along with putting up a dozen or more new growths. Orchid is 12" plus 8-12 for the spikes. Ill see if i can find a Ninja.

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  Год назад +3

      HI Richard 😍💐 Little Norman is a cutie! Has some of the Tokunaga attributes, but really a cutie! A vigorous and floriferous orchid like that is always such fun to grow, for sure! I love my little Lutin Blanc for that reason as well. Although I only get 2 new growths / year from it, the spikes still come from older canes and make for a darling little show during a time of year when things are very challenging. Funky little pseudobulbs as well 😅 Dendrobium Samarai is what you are looking for... swoon, drool and just gorgeous!! If you find one, let me know so that I can pester you with questions! 😆 thank you so much for watching, Richard! I appreciate your support and hope that you are having a wonderful day 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    I’m thinking of getting Cherry Dance or Quintals punch. I’ve read that Cherry Dance is considered mini, but not finding size info on the punch. Yours is a beauty

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  29 дней назад +2

      Debbiieee, hi! 😍💐I am going by a hunch here, just by seeing the length of the spikes of Quintals Punch, that this is a large orchid. When fully grown, my guess is that the canes will be approx. 23 inches without the flower spikes. Beautiful blooms on both of them, that is for sure! If you are interested in the Quintals Punch but want to make 100% sure that you know what you are getting in to, perhaps double check with the seller(s) to confirm the size of mature canes. Then add a couple of inches based on what they tell you, because in cultivation, you may be able to grow them larger than what the seller(s) tell you. Just a thought 😘 really appreciate you watching this video, lovely lady! I wish you a beautiful Saturday 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    I purchased a mature antennatum several months ago from a Hawaiian grower. Currently it is spiking. (I'm in s.e. Florida USA.) I also have a Samurai which I purchased as a seedling about 3 years ago from a Florida grower. It is now a medium sized orchid and has never bloomed. I have grown it in organic medium then mounted it on a palm tree until this summer when we had several days of temps about 100 F with high humidity. At that time I took it off the tree and put it back in organic medium in a shadier location. I'll have to see how it will do this spring/summer before re-evaluating the growing situation. BTW, I did slightly scorch the leaves on the antennatum when I first added it to my collection, however, it is doing fine now. Do you find that this orchid defoliates during the winter? Thanks for your video. It does give me "food for thought" for my orchid.

    • @NinjaOrchids
      @NinjaOrchids  10 месяцев назад +2

      😍HI Pat 💐 a.) I am envious of your location 😅 b.) I so wish I had a Samarai!! 🥹 you must keep me posted when your's blooms for the first time 😬 antennatum is not one to defoliate, no. Beyond the occasional leaf loss on older canes because they are old, the canes will shrivel and become obsolete as would a nobile cane after many many years, but no... no defoliating during the winter as per a winter rester. I usually scorch my new orchids' leaves as well, it gives me a better idea of how much light they can handle or not. Usually, those leaves on the new orchids would drop anyway, so I take advantage to get to know new orchids and their light tolerance. I hope that this reply was helpful and if you want an opinion of your food for thought, as they come to you, always feel free to ask. No matter which video 🥰 thank YOU so much for watching! Thank YOU so much for support here. It is truly appreciated 🫶🏼 ❤️🌸

    the ants are the pollinator of them around these parts. Before mine got taken down I could never have a good photo of the blooming because the ants would pollinate so many blooms. I still have my Samarai, not sure why that one survived the hurricane and the cold snap while the antennatum did not, but such is life. If I find another antennatum on the cheap I'll replace it but it isn't a priority.

    • @NinjaOrchids

      Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! Ants!! Speaking of ants, I did not have that many as I did last year, so ... I never noticed 😅 Where I sit in the living room, I can see this orchid and well, The Deed was done before my eyes. The wasp came back several days in a row. It was nice that it left me some blooms 😂 While I would still like to have a Samarai, accommodating both of them in the winter is a no. Its all in the name, you know, so, I am glad that at least the antennatum is not having difficulty here 👍🏼 I am glad that your Samarai survived, Michael! Is it larger than the antennatum? And, are the upright sepals longer and have a more predominant curl to them? I love the look of these blooms so much 😍 thank you so much for watching!! I hope you wake up to a wonderful day, my friend 🫶🏼❤️🌸

      @NinjaOrchids  Год назад +3

      HI 😍💐 I am gutted that the icons didn't stick where I added the name of the orchid I was referencing, so thank you for asking 🙏🏼 the Dendrobium that I originally wanted in my collection is called Denrobium Samarai ... many people write it as Samurai, but 'tis not that. Sounds the same, but you want to be on the look out for Samarai. She should be larger, her blooms really are a close match to the antennatum but, her upright sepals are a little longer and have a more pronounced twist. Gorgeous orchid! I will stick with antennatum, seeing as to both would cause problems in the grow space during the winter 🤪😅 thank you so much for watching!! I hope you wake up to a fabulous Thursday 🫶🏼❤️🌸

      @NinjaOrchids Happy Thanksgiving Nina! And when you say they would cause problems in the grow space, I think that you mean because of pests. Am I correct? And what kind of pests are more common for dendrobiums?
