He said there's only 1 electric motor on the 2 wheel drive version, and 2 electric motors on the 4 wheel drive. For clarification, Toyota/Lexus's hybrid system has two electric motors in the two wheel drive systems, and three electric motors in the 4 wheel drives. The full series/parallel hybrid system uses 2 electric motors in the front. One that is connected to the wheels (MG2) which is the more powerful one, and a smaller one (MG1) used for starting the gas engine, controlling the RPM of the engine, and generating electricity from the engine to either charge the battery or power the larger electric motor directly. Or both at the same time. All the interaction is done through a planetary gearset. Not the belt type of CVT. A mild hybrid, like Honda's IMA system uses one, small electric motor attached to the engine where the flywheel would be. And from that simple integration, it can be paired with a manual, automatic, or CVT (cone and belt type). The downside is that they both turn at the same RPM which means no electric-only driving. Electric driving is possible, just that the engine spins but doesn't consume any fuel.
The only thing Toyota screwed up with this vehicle is estimating how popular it would be... Here we are in December of 2014, and there's a NINE MONTH wait... They anticipated 900 sales per month, and just the first month on sale in Japan there were 9,000 ordered...
I really don't prefer the way Lexus executes sharp lines. Cadillac does sharp lines much better. The NX F Sport looks a bit more decent but I still prefer the GLA, MKC, or Q3.
The 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe and 2015 KIA Sorento are better looking and offer the same interior luxury as the 2015 Lexus NX 300h. If you're going to pay that much money, get a BMW or Mercedes. Lexus cars are just overpriced Toyotas. Not worth the money.
tom jones ignore them, they are anti lexus campaign team, they make the same lame chains comment on every lexus video and other japanese car video to. check it out, its so lame it will itch your brains LOL
tom jones well if it is me i would take the IS especially the ISF, it compact, agile and fun to drive. performance wise maybe under others with the turbo and shit, but to me ISF power is enough to drive everyday with comport. to me driving isf is more fun than the 3 series. but you should cross shopping and find your own most suitable fun to drive.
Why did he have to spend so much time disparaging people who want the advantage of the hybrid drivetrain. Maybe he doesn't mind constantly going to the gas station but I do and increased mileage of the hybrid drivetrain makes those trips to the gas station and listening to the idiotic music attacking you is a big plus for me.
Ugly glorified RAV 4 though the RAV 4 looks way better. I won't be paying a premium price for the NX when it can easily be mistaken for a cheap Hyundai, Kia or chinese brand.
LOL Hyundai isnt cheap any longer (Santa Fe anyway). They make great cars now days and even sell the engine back to mitsubishi and others. What car or brand are you comparing it to?
This is the worst designed SUV in this segment. Looks like a mix between the Hyundai Santa Fe and Mazda CX-9. In fact, even if I had the money, I would buy the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe and 2015 KIA Sorento over the NX 300h. At least the Hyundai and KIA have modern, attractive designs. Lexus needs to replace their design team ASAP.
David Bennett If you come to Japan, you will see that 99% of rich Japanese prefer to buy BMW or Mercedes, not Lexus. I've lived here for 8 years so I know the auto trends here.

looks beautiful from a designers stand point.
Aim the camera at stuff us car people actually wants to look at. Not one of Autobytel's best videos.
Beautiful car.

I would be curious in a comparison between this, the X4 and the GLA
I see some Subaru Tribeca in the back and Aston Martin Rapids in the front mashed with Hyundai Genesis. I really think they could have done better.
Stupid
When i see you i see a little bit of your mom, dad, the mailman and the gardener. Come on man, obviously card are going to have similarities.
Am I seeing a fabric seat?

UltimateDriver Lexus are tacky, ugly cars
UltimateDriver I've ordered the 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Will arrive in early August! so excited

Lexus said 10% of buyers will go for the turbo, not the hybrid.
I still like the RX better
this looks like a more aggressively styled Toyota rav4.
I love lexus but this car looks looks like nissan rogue in a way.

Looks like the now-defunct Pontiac Aztec. Not a good design in the least.

Major REX
Almost any asian car, cheap or not.
Ok thats going to far, German car damn nice. Specially Porsche .

David Bennett Lexus designs are getting uglier and uglier.
David Bennett I'm waiting for the 2016 Hyundai Tucson. That is the best designed SUV in the small/medium SUV segment.

David Bennett It's evident that Lexus copied Kia. Their front grilles look almost identical.
station wagon
worst new lexus interior i've seen.
Boring!
