- Caverns of Sonora will impress pretty quickly as you tour the cave. With each passing room, the formations seem to get more impressive. Though not on as grand a scale as Carlsbad Caverns, the crystals in this cave are as impressive as anything I saw there a few years ago.

I've been to the Caverns of Sonora. Man, that was the most spectacular cave I had ever seen! And I remember they called it a "living cave" meaning it was still forming features or something? It was humid and wet in there, I remember that. And that one pool of water, that the tour guide showed us, was completely invisible water! You couldn't tell it was water at all, until he dropped a pebble in it.. Wow, so weird. And all those crazy features like the fish, and butterfly, and those wild crystal rooms! Unreal!
My whole life of 54 years in Tx and never heard of those caves.....New destination, thank you
A wonderful cave to explore been there many times in my life and expect to go many more times.
I'm taking my nieces soon were super excited on going ty for sharing it just making our trip so much more exciting
Took my daughters there years ago. Definitely worth a visit.
Nice video! I went there about two years ago and was completely amazed. A great trip in this horrible heat! I know this is a Texas channel, but northern Mexico has the "Cave of the Crystals" and other caves similar to this one too.
There is so much of creation that we are absolutely incapable of comprehending...especially in Texas LOL???!!!
Thanks to the National Park System and the many state park systems much of this beauty is being preserved for us and the generations to come. Thank you President Theodore Roosevelt!!!!
Only been there once. & that was back in June of 1997. I enjoyed it.
Thank you, Sir!
Súper . Interesante felicidades
Thank u for old memories
My husband and I stumbled on this last December...Wow! what a find. I have seen a lot of awesome cave/cave systems, especially in Arkansas, but this is like no other. Our tour consisted of us and 2 other people, it is family owned and you just have to go see it yourself.
So beautiful! Now I want to visit it, but it sure is a long way from Aransas Pass. Thank you for a phenomenal video!
It is definitely worth the trip if you can do it!
Awesome footage bub 🔥👍🏽
Aint been back at caverns since 1965
Amazing. And the water is so clear. 😲 I think that I am too big to fit down some of them hallways. 😉
Happy birthday 🎂 explorers
You also need to do Natural Bridge Caverns. And also do a bat flight. Texas has the most bats in one place on the planet. Everything is bigger of course :) cause its Texas
Bat flight in Austin at the Ann Richards Memorial Bridge is a sight to behold. Those bats consume about a million pounds of insects every night - mostly mosquitoes
That water looks like it could cure cancer, or kill you right away! Anyways it looked so clear and beautiful
Thnxs
Did not know we had porcupines in Texas!
I've seen them a lot in the western hill country region and a bit further west.
@@secretsoftexas6872 I've seen them in my neighborhood at Canyon Lake. Texas has lots of critters :)
Our dog knows about them. Oh Yeah...
Theres a very good song named after this, people should listen to it
Have you been to Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown?
I have not, but the name alone makes me want to go.
@@secretsoftexas6872 It is a very nice cave. My understanding is that it was discovered during interstate 35 construction. So glad it was preserved for us all to enjoy
It's worth the visit if only to see the "cave butterfly". Amazing formations.
Addendum: I had no idea that the butterfly formation had been stolen!
They think it was some college kids from Houston who distracted the tour guide.
Yes that's too bad
Very sad. Glad I was able to see the butterfly when I was younger. Also saw the balanced rock, that was near Enchanted Rock state park, before someone toppled it.
@@dorothygale5896 it was a tourist from California
@@dorothygale5896 vandalized then stolen. Broken pieces left behind. Travesty indeed. Last I heard there was a project to reconstruct it
Any of y'all been to carlsbad cavern in nm
Just got back from there last week Going over the pictures and videos and still saying Wow. Sorry, Sonora isn't even close to it and I'm from So., Tx. Carlsbad will be hard to beat to me. Pictures and Video don't do it justice. 68F down there was a relief when coming from the New Mexico Heat.
@@snatcher420 Sonora is smaller and Carlsbad overwhelms with the sheer quantity of formations and its size. However the pink gypsum gallery in Sonora is unique. It is not shown in this video but it is breathtakingly beautiful, even without the butterfly.
I've been.. the gift shop is super expensive lol
of course it is - it is a tourist shop
@clairewood7416 it is a tourist shop. You're right about that.
I thought Sonora was in Mexico
It is a state in northern Mexico.
@@secretsoftexas6872 where is this located again and how much does it cost for a tour inside?
@@May9ninth Sonora Texas is on Interstate 10 between San Antonio and El Paso. It’s 90 miles to Del Rio to the south on 277 south and 70 miles from San Angelo on 277 north. It’s actually out in the middle of nowhere. Lived up there for 14 years. The cavern’s are about 15 miles from Sonora going west towards Ozona off of Interstate 10
@@Lea941 thank you👨🏾💻 this place is on my bucket 🪣 list to visit one day💯 I love caves, and I want to own a small one myself in the future and build a recording studio inside of it❕🎧
my sister in law has a 15,000 acre ranch in Sonora Tx.
