"Shout out to the lights guy" Howell Binkley did the lights and won a Tony Award for it. He attended Reynolds High School with, and was a close dear personal friend of my mother's as they did theatre there together, sadly we lost him this past August 2020. Howell was a wonderful soul and an extremely talented individual gone far too soon from this world, we really miss him here locally, means a lot that in your first time watching this you noticed how much work went into his lighting. Thank you.
My mom is a music lecturer and when she watched Hamilton the first time, the first thing she noticed and praised were the lighting. Yes, the music and performance wow-ed her too but she noticed how incredible the light works are and it's her favorite thing about this stage. Thank you for sharing about him, I didn't know he's passed too and I know this is an old comment of yours but hopefully this one little comment from me all across the world would mean something for the community and everyone who cares about him.
"Every chance this guy gets, he's calling Hamilton a bastard." It's probably important to note that Burr came from a prominent family of wealth, so he (and many of Hamilton's contemporaries like Jefferson and John Adams) held it against Hamilton that he was a bastard from the Caribbean.
Good pick up on the king. As a comparison to the new idea of America and the guys doing hip hop, the king is meant to represent an earlier time, so his song is written to remind you of the Beatles/traditional Broadway.
Your reaction is one of my favorite reactions to this EVER! And I’ve seen a LOT of them because I love seeing people watch it for the first time! You REALLY got it. Like, the depth of it. The significance. The phenomenal performances. Damn! Thank you so much for this! I will be watching them ALL and can’t wait for the rest!!!! Liking and subbing! ❤️
This is by far my favorite reaction to this. A bit of info for you: The guy you said you liked at 2:11 (among other times) is a rapper/singer (among other things) by the name of Daveed Diggs who also stars in the show "Snowpiercer" Monday nights at nine pm. George Washington is played by Christopher Jackson, one of the stars of "Bull" that airs Monday nights at ten pm on CBS.
I love watching your reaction! It's amazing to watch someone else fall in love with Hamilton! It's such an incredible performance, so much talent. And I don't even like plays OR history!! Lol
Always come back to your reaction to vicariously live the experience of hearing Burr's song for the first time. Such a powerful rendition of love, death and a hope of what is yet to come.
Interesting tidbits: Lin Manuel Miranda actually wrote some of this play when he was on his honeymoon haha. The song that He and Leslie Odom Jr. (Burr) sing together - "Dear Theodosia" - When Hamilton is speaking about Phillip, his son, Lin actually wrote that part while thinking about his dog because he didn't have an actual son. The songs helpless and satisfied are actually the same exact choreography, just with VERY different tracks and meanings. The woman carrying the bullet that is shot over Hamilton's head (during "Stay Alive") actually dies earlier in the play and from that point forward she represents death. Everyone that she touches during the show is a foreshadowing of their eminent doom later on. Honestly there's so many unique facts about this play that I could probably write a book in the comment sections lol. I'll leave you with this though. Watch the John Adams rap that was cut from the show for obvious reasons especially considering its release on Disney+, you'll be satisfied.
Welcome to Hamilfandom 😊. I am glad you are enjoying the show so far. As for how to break it up into 4 parts, you stopped this first video at a good place. I suggest you go on to the intermission for the second video. (You might want to stop after Yorktown but there are only a couple of songs after that.) In the second act, it is a little harder to know when to stop, the story flows very quickly, but I'd recommend you go through until Eliza sing a song named "Burn". As for the historical accuracy, spoiler alert: the founding fathers and mothers did not always speak in rhyme 😁. Lin-Manuel Miranda researched so much of the details of these people, much of the story is accurate. Some details were changed to make the show more dramatic but the overall story is very much based on real events. For example, in reality Angelica was already married when she met Alexander and he married her sister. However, they wrote very "flirty" letters to each other. And the line in Helpless when Angelica tells Eliza "if you loved me you would share him" comes from a real letter from Angelica to Eliza where she says "if you were as generous as you say you are, you'd let me borrow your husband for a little while. " 😉 My advice is to just enjoy the show and if you want to check out the accuracy of the details, do it after. Some can be very interesting.
Yes, stopping after Burn would work for part 3, or you could stop after One Last Time. Either part 3 or part 4 is gonna be shorter than the other just because of how the storyline goes and the way certain songs connect and flow straight into others.
The show takes some dramatic liberties with history but Lin really showed his work with other parts, like references to Hamilton’s letters. The show also has lyrical references to everything from Biggie to Gilbert and Sullivan. The original casting notice described characters as combinations of rappers or other celebrities.
Wait For It and Satisfied are two of my favorite songs, the other one is The Room Where It Happens. Burr lead songs are amazing not only bcs the tracks are fantastic, but bcs Leslie Odom Jr (Burr) is such a great, great, great performer: he has the talent, skill, and passion. Fantastic honestly. Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton and the writer of this show) is not the best singer, but he is a great rapper and an amazingly creative man, he is honestly a genius.
The actor that plays the King also play Hans from Frozen. And the reason why he walks like that is because the crown a d robe were so heavy that he had to walk like that with out falling over.
“Oh no she’s in love with Alexander too? That makes 3 of us” got me😂😂
😆 me too!!
Proper belly laugh. It was masterfully delivered.
I had to pause I laughed so hard
Aww mate, that line killed me xD Came here to say exactly what you did :D:D:D

The guy who plays Hamilton is actual the guy who wrote the entire show. Lin-Manuel Miranda.
That's amazing. What a talented man!
Unforgetable voice and unforgetable brains, yo. Dude's a genius!
@@krovax666 Lin actually won the MacArthur ‘genius’ Grant for Hamilton.

Angelica really did write Eliza a letter asking if she could share Hamilton. Though most historians agree it was just a joke.
Angelica really had a thing for intelligent men. She met Jefferson in France and wrote to him for the rest of her life as well...

"Satisfied" is often subtitled "how to win a Tony award in 5 minutes =) Renee absolutely killed it as Angelica!
The switch up of styles for the King is very intentional. His songs are supposed to be a Beatles-like breakup pop song.
