      I hate to say this 'cause I love Americans, but for a naturally wealthy country, the USA looks like a wasted opportunity to me. Britain, though never as wealthy, is in some danger of going the same way. What really matters, having a big arse car or living in a decent community? (Brit).

    • @adamhaney9447
      @adamhaney9447 4 года назад +3

      We (Americans) don't feel that way... It's written into our Constitution and the fabric of our legal structure.
      I'm not objectively stating that personal freedom is BETTER than communal stability (though I personally believe it is); I'm simply saying that the typical American perspective on individual rights isn't a feeling, it's an aspect of our legal structure.
      Also, the US is a nation of 330mil people and geographically gigantic. What you see in the news concerning riots/protests is an unbelievably insignificant percentage of the US population.

No hustle and bustle, no arguing, no working 24x7, no giving up of your vacation, no coming to work no matter how sick you are, etc., etc.. Love it, your tongue in cheek was awesome. Yes, the world will definitely be interesting after this election. Also, between the election and the health concerns (or lack of) depending on where you stand, it will be very interesting to see if there are large amounts of people moving to other countries. Some people have mentioned that they are really considering moving abroad and many have started researching quite some time ago. Congratulations on your channel, you do an excellent job. We have a massive animal agriculture industry here. As a result factory farms are everywhere, trucks full of animals heading to the freezing works are on the roads - there's no avoiding it. Kiwis are often confronted with the realities of animal exploitation and as an island nation vulnerable to global warming there is an awareness of the part animal agriculture plays in that situation. It wasn't long ago that meat and 2 veg was the standard meal here, and veg options were painfully hard to find, but we've had a vegan revolution over the last 5 years which is great.

    I came from Southern England with my Family in 1965. We lived in Gisborne for two years before settling in Hamilton in the Waikato. The culture shock of coming from a Country where people didn't acknowledge each other, to a place where complete stranger's would say "Good morning," or "G'day", or converse whilst waiting for a bus etc, took a bit of getting used to.
    After 55 years here, I still enjoy that social interaction and I happily chat to anyone at any time. There are unspoken rules however. Whilst at the bus stop you can have really deep conversations, but as soon as you board the bus, you each go to a separate seat and the conversation stops. That doesn't stop conversation starting up with the person across the aisle, or in the seat in front. I notice a lot of people travelling will say, (me included.) "Good Morning" to the bus driver and thank you to him when getting off. Unfortunately it's mainly the older generation that do this, the young seem to be mesmerised by their cellphones, or are isolated by listening to their music with ear buds, so perhaps the custom will have died out by the time they mature to middle age.

    In New Zealand, if you turned up for work late, the boss is going to be pissed, but probably won't say.
    If it's a one-off that's okay, but if you're routinely late then definitely it's a problem. Generally it's expected that if you are late then you will make that time up by working later or coming in earlier tomorrow. So be very careful when someone says 'no worries' in the workplace in New Zealand - what it means is: is that they're willing to be flexible or cut you some slack- this time.
    It's easy to misinterpret this as a foreigner.
    Like you say, New Zealanders are non confrontational. Which can be nice (as they are willing to accommodate) - but I wish they would be forward in expressing their feelings.
    Kiwis are a bit too repressed.

And most companies state that you MUST take those 4 weeks of paid leave within the year to meet your KPIs. This annual leave is separate to all the public holidays you have off. Another reason American's should think twice about before moving to NZ! (For Americans, yes that last sentence was sarcasm) 😂😂😂
