For me, he is one of the greatest artists of the last 100 years. He would have deserved much more attention during his lifetime. But he was a humble person, humorous and endowed with a shaken degree of self-irony. Money and fame never were his goal. I miss you Kevin!
I saw him in the 90 s in Frankfurt and I heard his record "Pointing the finger" , which is on of my very favourite works !! He was amazing singing about humanity and fighting for better times... And he walked the line !
That Man stepped up, and taught me a lesson. Stand up for what you believe.. But that was a bit later . A sold out concert. I waved through the line, Playing songs a blues harp , Member of the band coming through, The anabolic bouncers didn't buy it, cop choke grip so the harmonica flew out of my mouth. So Kevin gets up and says, " We've been waiting for him, if you don't let him in we are leaving. So he comes over , lifts me up , and whispers in my ear, I* got to have have a name for a new band member . Pidi God damn he has a loud voice, I know you. That was in a low voice. Over to the band table, This is for you, a bottle with a tag that all the barmaids and Bartenders had signed . you need a lot more than me. He was so depressed. The Berlin wall fell not too long later
I had the chance to see Kevin Coyne on stage at the New Morning, Paris, France in the late 80'S. That was the best concert I ever saw and still is. I miss you Kevin !
Have had Marjory Razorblade since it came out in 73 and love it more today than way back then. I hadn't heard this version of Eastbourne Ladies before so thank you for sharing.
In diesem Sinne...Hey hey my my Rock'n Roll can never die....Bleib gesund.
Thanks very much for this! I taped the concert of which this is from, as it was broadcasted on the radio at the time, so it's special to find it back again, here. Even more special is to see live footage of Kevin with this band during the same period. Surprising rendition of Eastbourne Ladies and a strong, convincing performance of it. Kevin Coyne has been very meaningful for me. I hardly could listen to his music, for some time, because it almost became too painful, in some ways.
In English: This is exactly the right song to honour this great artist. My playlist contains 204 videos on september 7, 2016. To my opinion sufficient to enjoy and honour this unique man.
Great track, actually Steve Lamb is not playing on this one. The bass is synth bass played by Steve Bull (also Fender Rhodes Piano), Peter Kirtley on guitar of course and Dave Wilson on drums. All the best.

Crying shame that one of the UK's greatest ever soul singers doesn't get the respect he deserves.

One of the greats. In fact all were great on his first label Dandelion Records started by the DJ John Peel.
Too brilliant
