    So for the first 1 or 2 or 3 times I have to apply thin coat of oil on the whole tawa front and back. Than after making dosa I have to keep it with a coat of little oil every time to prevent it from rusting. Is it so

    Nice video. For the dosa, I usually cool the tawa under water before I pour the batter for the next dosa. How do we do that with the cast iron pan, coz it would be too heavy to carry to the sink each time?

    • @ideasathome

      You dont have to do that in cast iron tawa.. But if you still prefer to do that sprinkle some water over tawa...

      Usually in normal dosa tawa it is like that, but in this one can use for both.. But
      Shouldnt use this for making rice roti and dosa as dosa wont come out well if used for both. Rice roti and chappathi can be made in same

    Maa'm I hv just purchased a cast iron pre seasoned tawa. Still not used it. It is not branded. Just wanted to know that after you heated the tawa, applied oil and made a small Dosa. A doubt I had was, don't we clean the tawa after heating, oil application??. Because you made the small Dosa imndly. Would be really grateful if you cud clarify this doubt. 🙏. Thankyou

    • @ideasathome
      @ideasathome  2 года назад

      If the tawa is preseasoned, wash with dishwash soap or liq, keep on flame, when the tawa is hot apply gigelly oil, make dosa.. No need to clean after applying oil..we have already washed and applied very thin layer of cooking oil only, then what is the need to wash again? Oil gives the lubrication for the cast iron and helps to make crisp tasty dosa.. Hope the doubt is cleared.. You can wash the cast iron after cooking is done and when tawa comes to normal temperature... Still before storage apply thin layer of oil and keep it away to prevent rusting... Once the tawa is well seasoned you dont need to oil before storage. Just drying will be enough for tawa.

    Thank you so much for this informative video. Please can you tell me that after using & washing, before storing when we season the pan again to avoid rust should we season the handle also as the whole product is cast iron? I want to switch to cast iron cookware but scared because of the rusting factor. 🙆🏻‍♀️🙆🏻‍♀️

    • @ideasathome
      @ideasathome  3 года назад +1

      No ,we dont need to...just dry the handles..no need to apply oil on handles...in dosa tawa as we are not making curries maintenance is quite easy...if it is good seasoned tawa like this it wont rust easily...you can wven wash with plain water,dry and store in an open place..but for cast iron kadai applying oil after washing and drying is must as I have shown in vinod legacy cast iron kadai review...go ahead with cast iron tawa first..it is worth it
