Welcome to Episode 11 of "Let's Draw!" In today's episode, I will show you how to draw different styles of eyes and walk you through examples of how minor adjustments to eyebrows and mouths can drastically change the expression of your character! This video walks you all the way from the sketch process up to the final inked and colored piece (complete with shadows and highlights) using Procreate and the iPad Pro!

Hahahaha! Thanks, Lou!
I've watched all your cartoon 101 videos, and as a beginner starting to get back into drawing, these tutorials are so helpful. Thank you so much for all the effort that you've put in! These are absolutely amazing and make drawing fun again!
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching and glad to hear you are enjoying the videos!
This is AMAZING, I’m a beginner artist so this “basic” is mind Blowing! Both to me and my 6yo!
Ariana M Well...thanks for watching guys! Glad you found it helpful!
22:22 I wasn't expecting that dark background story hahaha. You are an amazing artist and I've been watching your videos nonstop for the last few days, since I found your channel! Hopefully one day I can do something like all these images you created in this video, and others! Thank you for these videos, and all the effort you put into them!
Just Started to draw for therapeutic reasons love your videoßs
I really like how you can create something really professional looking with simple ideas. Really liked this. I always to struggle with drawing eyes at times. Good watch. 👍
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching...I’m glad you found the channel!
I just crawled out under a rock about 2 weeks ago and discovered Procreate thanks to your videos. I have an iPad air 2 already for a few years.Bought a noname pencil from Amazon yesterday. It works okay-ish,but I can tell it's far from great. So I went today to the Apple store to get the taste of the real deal...OH BOY! What a difference! :D
So yeah,I'm getting a new iPad and a pencil. :)
Your videos are awesome!
Awesome! Can’t wait to see what you come up with! Thanks for watching!!!
Another great tutorial. Thank you for always being thorough and easy to follow long with. Some day I'll make the leap from sketching on paper, scanning, and then inking digitally. Lol.
Thanks so much... I appreciate it! Keep practicing and then make the leap, lol!
You are simply AMAZING!!! Thank you so much for sharing your creative process with us.
Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate it!
Hi Bee, I just want to THANK YOU!!!!... you are an inspiration to watch. I've learnt so much from your lessons. I love that you don't put pressure on yourself to have the best line! the first time... hahaha Can you tell I'm new to this? Digital art is such fun. Regards Debs
A simple and elegant tutorial. Love it!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Hey BIG thanks for this one! I. Always look forward to your videos. These really help me draw and understand drawing. Thank you.
Bill Dungan Always glad to help! Thanks!!!
This was brilliant 🤩
So easy and well explained, I love your work!
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!!!
I learned so many things with this video. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this! My favorite is the vintage carrot.
Thanks! I love that one too!!!
As usual, amazing tutorial.
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching!!!!
Another nice job!…I think half the battle is learning ProCreate
The Disney crying eyes is heartbreaking, I’ll never eat another carrot again.... possibly.
his mum got thrown in the stew!!
loved this one....
Thanks Dwayne...had a lot of fun with this one!
A nice compact way, from photography, to describe the white highlights in the pupils....they are called “catch lights”.
Died laughing! Mom in stew, lol. Excellent video also! Thanks for another great one BJD!
Cuuute
I love your videos. Did you do any videos on line weight? 💛💛 thank you 😊
Yup- there’s one with a black and white fox on the thumbnail...and another one from a week ago with the black and white mouse.
Let's Draw with BeeJayDeL thanks so much!!
Well done!🙂
Thanks so much!
Hey, I really like this video. Thank you! I have your cartooning brushes. In the video you are using a “natural inker” and you change a setting on it (2.15). Which brush from the pack should I use please?
Very informative video on expressions .
Thanks! Glad I could help!
Can all of this be applied to animal characters and is there a video on how to apply it?
Thank you! Excellent tutorial
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching!!!
Sad carrot was my favorite
Great, great, great vídeo!!!!!,
Something is wrong with me, but I like your cartoon characters.
What brush do you use ? For drawing in black. I love your work ❤
Hey I just found you on RUclips and I really like your work❤ I just want to ask one thing that when I drew on procreate then after zooming my artwork lines become cakey. So what to do to get smooth lines?
Fantastic! This is one of my favorite videos! ❤️
Wizardry! Lol!
Hahaha! Thanks!
Great videos!! Thanks for sharing your ART! I got trouble filling the big eyes with white, my carrot turns all white! I am closing the circle completely, changed pencil, mark etc... but still doing it over and over... What am I doing wrong?
You might have the "color drop threshold" turned up too high. When you drag and drop over your color, keep your finger or pencil held down and slide to the left to decrease it (don't go too far or you might start to see thin white lines between the color and the lines.) Hope this helps!
THANK YOU, I APPRECIATED IT@@BeeJayDeL
I love your vids. Thanks for breaking it right down to why and not just 'because!'
QQ: Are you drawing in vector or Raster? (As I see some of the lines modify themselves a bit.)
Can i draw and use these expression on my character for commercial use? Love them
Hey . Which brush are you using ? It tapers out real amazing
Link should be in the video description to the forum where you can get the DL link!
Let's Draw with BeeJayDeL yeah but which brush and from which pack? The ink one or the animal one?
@@marcello9628 I was here for the same answer. Bought the pack (all good) but unsure which exact brush was used in the video.
I just purchased and downloaded your brush set... I do like all those regular brushes, but they all seem to be very similar. But what I don't understand are the streamline ones...what are the purpose for the lag? Thanks for this tutorial, by the way, I followed you through to the end..lol
Thanks! The streamline ones basically assist your stroke for a cleaner, non-shaky line. I find these are helpful when making large twisting lines (circles, curved lines that stretch across the canvas, etc.)
How long did it take you to master shadows and highlights? I’m really having an issue trying to figure out where to place them
It is a learning process...once you get comfortable with it, shadows and highlights will become second nature! Grab a flashlight, shine it on objects in real life, and watch how the light plays off of the shape. Repeat this process until your "mind's eye" starts seeing it without the reference!
Maximum Nice :D
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching!
Hi, I’m new to all of this, I now know which brush(es) you mostly use, but could you please also share your settings?
I tried, but couldn’t find (almost) the same settings to draw.
Could you please help me out? :-)
The link for my brush pack is in the description. All of those brushes I made from scratch and have the exact settings I use ready to go!
Ohh, alright, thanks a lot. I thought u used the one from your description below your videos. :-D
Simple and awesome thx
Thanks!
Explain why the repeated copying and pasting... where are you pasting it? Clipboard 📋 maybe?? Still learning Procreate
Yes, copying goes to the "clipboard." Pasting just places it on another layer in this video. I did repeated copy/pastes in this one just so I had the same carrot "base" to draw the new sets of eyes/mouths on. Did this so it stayed the same for all versions and you could see the differences as I switched back and forth between the differen versions. Hope this helps!
How is it that you zoom in but the pixels dont show? I zoom in a little and the pixels appear rite away
bacardi1883 Most likely is your canvas size...in this video, I am working on 4500x5400 300 DPI canvas.
Let's Draw with BeeJayDeL that’s exactly it. I was working with 1573 x 2081px😬😁👍thanks
By the way, your hand Control is ridiculous. You’re awesome
bacardi1883 No problem! Glad to help!
@@bacardi1883 Hahahaha...thanks!
Thank you so much for your video :)
Can you do a video on lip sync ?
