Just heard this track and looked it up. I thought I had all their albums but I'd never even heard of this one, it's called "1993/1994" which was released in 1998. 2nd hand on Amazon... THANK YOU!!!
thanks to my friend Claire I met in France who introduced me to this band. this is my favorite song by them. love the melody, her voice and the welsh language. Diolch!
@@drparnassus2867 This is probably not very accurate, but to give an idea, this is straight from Google Translate: O'are empty seats This year comes up to never again Slowly The rest slid open But the hours flee To wait is to tolerate Rover, end the competition Give me a little talking Dimbran, you reached too high You pale boasting and you are empty Pure ocean Your mother never called you a disgrace A fake spark Your progress is the end of why I am And you lost your plan To choke satisfactorily in pain He interpreted this Your goose threatens nothing Rover, end the competition Give me a little talking Dimbran, I stretched you too high You pale boasting and you are empty Have you realized that why those who look at you through straw are fools, fools Shake hands tonight ... sure to come back
I was very lucky to grow up in Cardiff in the 1990's, saw them live a few times and saw them out and about but I don't think I appreciated how good they were. In hindsight I think they deserved more recognition than they got. Thank you for posting this. I never even knew this brilliant song existed! Very haunting guitars. Absolutely beautiful.
@@imogenimeson664 Thank you for the correction. Well I agree Cerys Matthews is more than pretty good looking. She is a brilliant presenter and I never heard anyone make the Welsh language as attractive has she does. She is very beautiful, beautiful singing voice that even the song birds would envy. May God bless and protect her all her life long, deliver her from dark forces. That she receives his continuous ever lasting peace...
I thinks she looks like Sabastian Bach in this video. A little creepy. I like her better with short hair. Anyway, this song was a huge production and can`t understand why it had zero play in the US while we went apeshit over a girl who didn`t shave her pitts 20 years earlier?
ok thanx you ... i m rarely wrong about the music ...but here i was 8 years far of the truth... thanx guys... there s nearly 3 years that i don t hear catatonia music ...i really want to hear again my fave catatonia album 'equally cursed & blessed'

Anybody who thinks that the welsh language is ugly should listen to this, pure beauty
The lyrics are sheer venom.
@@JimFinnis Thanks Jim, can you give us a rough translation?

O'are empty seats
This year comes up to never again
Slowly
The rest slid open
But the hours flee
To wait is to tolerate
Rover, end the competition
Give me a little talking
Dimbran, you reached too high
You pale boasting and you are empty
Pure ocean
Your mother never called you a disgrace
A fake spark
Your progress is the end of why I am
And you lost your plan
To choke satisfactorily in pain
He interpreted this
Your goose threatens nothing
Rover, end the competition
Give me a little talking
Dimbran, I stretched you too high
You pale boasting and you are empty
Have you realized that why those who look at you through straw are fools, fools
Shake hands tonight ... sure to come back

Great comment :)
Absolutely beautiful song
Diolch! I love this video and look at it when I am fed up! Cerys was and is so good looking
The song can be found on 'The Crai-EPs 1993/1994'.
I've heard this song before (or one very similar), but didn't know it was Welsh and didn't know it was Catatonia.
Major Cocteau Twins vibe
She is good looking, like this song
Don't you mean pretty,a man is described as good looking.

@@imogenimeson664 Women can also be described as 'good looking', it's certainly not gender-specific.
Diolch! Gyda diolchiddau! Llongyfarchiadau!
Holy crap, is this what they used to sound like? It's way better.
If Cocteau Twins were Welsh...
Diolch!
Sing more naturally in Welsh
Steve Phillips I think it's her first language but I can't be sure.

Wow! Brilliant stuff.
it seems to be a special a Welsh language version... is it in their last album (before the split) ?
No, this was a very early song. Sorry for the late reply...
