I started a ND total war campaign. And have been watching the world unfold around me. Around turn 30 Rohan and Lothlorien has been brawling it out and Rohan had taken everything and was now laying siege to CG (I toggled FOW to watch the world unfurl). Lothlorien spawned their last Doom stack - they then proceeded to ROFL stomp Rohan all the way to Edoras and the Hornburg. Rohan actually held Isengard at the Isen and Foldburg. Rohan falls at turn 47. Isengard and Lothlorien announce alliance. Isengard goes to war with Gondor (Lorien and Gondor were allied) - broken alliance with Isengard and Lorien at turn 72. Lorien is now mopping Isengards floor with Berserker blood using Sarumans staff and hair piece. Love watching them crush things. After watching this and your Lorien TW campaign. I’ll prolly start one with them. Thanks Gaul!
As far as jazzing up Mordor remember that Sauron was a commander of vampires and werewolves (he could turn into both) when he was the chief lieutenant of Morgoth. I always find it strange that the two creatures are so often forgotten.
I wonder if we’ll ever see the Galadriel interact with the world that’d be pretty neat Edit: those girvethelg? Seem like top tier anti troll units wouldn’t want to miss though with that range
I assume you mean the gûrveleg? Yeah, it helps they can hide so you can more easily attack trolls with another unit and then flank with gûrveleg. As much as I like Lothlórien they don't have an easy answer to tough enemies. Rohan, for example, with their axe units and skirmishers are much better. On the other hand, that at least presents players with a challenge.
Rohan infantry units are not better than Lorien's. Not even close. Even though Lorien's non-Gurvaleg archers are not AP when their attack and accuracy is as high as it is it doesn't matter much. Even armoured troops will be gunned down easily.
Perhaps when DCI (Another submod for TATW that has Galadrial as a general) is released, a submod may come out that could use their battle model and portrait.
The Gurveleg are kind of anti everything if you get to use their arrows. I dont know if you played Stainless Steel (Byzantine in particular) because the Gurveleg are kind of a weaker version of the Siphonatores (Greek flamethrowers) in terms of how they play. They absolutely massacre a unit with their 4 arrows but are odd to use. They perform best in Bridgebattles and city defenses (at least for me).
Probably the most useful tip for playing Lothlorien, you can purchase Ent Mercenaries from Edraichain. Rare, but when purchased they are extremely powerful for smashing the thrash coming from Shadow of Mirkwood.
24:28 "but they're still not going to win any awards" until the top 5 elven archers video that is, where they will be mistaken for the Berio I Ngelaidh and awarded top 3
I feel like you should change the elbereth swordsmen to an actual sword and board unit. First off, they will play more into the more defensive theme but it also makes more sence because of the script. If you accept the script you get the woodland realms two handed swords which is basically the same unit. I think making them a sword and board unit would make more people say yes on the script to get that extra strike unit.
People really don’t understand how op the gurveleg are, I tested these and they literally kill the elites of every faction almost instantly and kill trolls as well, Smith’s of eregion, mumakil, all trolls, dwarves elites, gone instantly. They are so op, since they are AP too and have silverthorn arrows they can slaughter 1000 foes in 4 volleys
Yeah, but they are super specialised as elite killers. They will straight-up DELETE one or two units, no matter how good those units are, but if your enemy is just swarming you with two full stacks of mid-tier troops (as Dol Guldur is often wont to do), they are going to be somewhat underwhelming. I mean, congratulations, your almost 1200 g unit just killed 60% of two units of D-G Host, and a unit of Uruk Pikes. What are you going to do about the next 30+ units? EDIT: corrected price.
They require a lot of micromanaging, which is quite difficult in big battles. I mean, it's nice to have elite killers, but bringing them into position to do exactly that without getting them entangled somewhere is not easy. They are also very good at friendly fire, so if their target is f.ex. in melee with one of your own units, they wipe them all out alltogether. I find them good on paper, but not so useful in battle.
If I place them in front, they waste their arrows on enemy trash, if I hold them in reserve, I risk them causing massive friendly fire, if I use them to flank, they attract enemy cav. And they are vulnerable to archers. I really don't know how to use them.
Plus Ents are mercs for this faction & early game wipe whole Mirkwood armies on their own. I think pikes may slow them down as listed as heavy cavalry...even without Ents Lothlorien are unstoppable under a good general.
Galu since you mentioned about the slight lore break with the Woodland Realm and Lorien with regard to their archers, since Lorien has larger bows in the lore (from when Legolas gets his when the Fellowship was leaving Lorien) could it work that Lothlorien has a greater range with their bows but do less damage (compared to the Woodland Realm). Which, owing to their shorter bows, the Woodland Realm do more damage with the arrows, but have a reduced range?

So: is it possible to agree to accept the WR diplomat, get help from Woodland Realm against Mordor army and then reject alliance and get Berio-Something? From Galu's description it looks like it's possible
Yes it is. Technically the only help in the battle you get from the other nation is the fact they warn you enemies are coming. All units you get are your own troops
Hello Galu, Lothlorien will be in the top 10 sword and board units with Sentinels if Cerin Amroth. Also, the best will be the Mithlond Nobles. There is nothing non AP that can beat them( if you keep your word and only include swordsman, not non AP axes as well)
14:55 interesting that Galu says he prefers Def skill over Armor. For me the armor seemed much superior (in campaign game) , especially the for elite troops.
I realize this is somewhat against the lore, but I feel like more access to mercenary units might help from a gameplay perspective. For example: evil factions that participate in invasions can hire dark men mercenaries, Lorien can fill out it's roster with men from the vale of Anduin or dwarves. It just makes gameplay more fluid
Does the script that let you get those units from joining in aliance with wood elves work the same way in DAC v.3 ?? becouse I would prefer much more to say NO, and get the op general unit.
Arachir i dont know if you answer question about the mod here i think im getting a strange bug when i play as dol amroth i created a tier 2 smith in my capital but instead of getting the seconf tier of armor im going back to tier 0(im not sure if tier 1 worked too ) so any sugestion?
32:10 Based on that brief view of the fighting, it looks like the Yavanna's Chosen are halberdiers. I honestly figured they probably were, since their 9 attack would be ridiculously strong on a pike unit at mid-tier, but it makes sense for a halberd unit.
@Arachîr Galudirithon is there a plan to implement the "Heirs of Fingolfin" submod that lets you play as all elven nations at once? To me Elves are very boring because of the small roster and this mod does a very good job at making the elves interesting for me again :)
One more Lorien campaign tip from my playthrough earlier this year; take Zagh Kala. It is insanely wealthy and almost alleviates your money problems for your war against DG.
@@feelingpine9123 The roaster is very limited, accepting the alliance is the only way to improve it a bit and there's no real incentive to refuse it but 1 elite unit with very slow replenishment. Maybe just borrow the galadrim veterans mounted and dismouted from reforge would be a nice addition.
I'm in the middle of a campaign with Lothlorien, and Rhun is a total pain. They laugh at my normal archers, while their unreachable golden boy archer units gun down my inf. Losses are not sustainable. Any tips against Rhun?
Ambush with hide anywhere whenever possible and move your happy self to Rhun's capital on the double quick; Rhun is increasingly looking like one of THE most powerful factions in the game bar...not many.

You'll have to unpack the files with an unpacker (can't help you here, but search in total war center, there is one for the DaC submod) Make sure to make a copy (just copy the foldder and rename it to DaC original or something like that)

Go to data/text/expanded.txt and search for 'Remnants of Angmar'. Chnage that one instance to anything you like and it will rename the faction. Then you need to delete the expanded.txt.bak file in that same folder and it will show up in game. Oh and use notepad++ as standard notepad often crashes the game when files are formatted through it.
So how do you get haldir's brothers because I have captured dol guldur and nothing happened, does it have to be a certain turn number before I get them?
Isn't there a cheat to force take a settlement? If there is then to show off stuff such as Haldir's brothers could be shown by force taking X towns and, in the case, Dol-Guldur, and then passing to turn 3 near the end of the map overview.
Just wanted to address the short atmour/defenseskill topic that you pulled up. Im fairly certain that armour is always better than defense skill. First reason is arrows. They completely ignore defense skill while armour protects against it. If you look at ap now it only halfs the armour stat so armour still protects at least a little. If units get attacked in the back defense skill drops to 0 and gets halfed when hit in the flanks (i think) while armour always stays the same.
6 лет назад+4
Defence skill is used in melee and is always full in that instance. It is omitted when facing archers. Shield skill is full when engaged frontally and half in the sides and zero at the rear. The same applies for arrows damage. Armour is full at all times save for AP enemies. I suppose therefore it could certainly be argued armour is the better one.
I hereby predict that the top two sword and board units will be Gabilgathol guard and Iron guard, cause dwarves, and no elves have sword and board units at that tier
Lothlorien can access Ent mercs. While they crash battles Ents destroy even Ringwraith units. Reverses the swarming option that Mirkwood faction utilizes. Very pricy but for v good reason. Would like to see ents v trolls scrap!
Gurveleg can kill more than 1000 with only 1 unit. I have that experience. It was a protection of a city. Just put them in front of the gate. Nothing will be able to get in)
Galu… Why are the Berio I Ngelaidh now better than Noldorin Guard, yes they have slightly lower stats, but there are 3x more of them???? Please either give the Noldoron Guard more troops as they get stun locked very easy or make them even better.
It's very easy to edit the file and give them more troops yourself. Though I think it would be quite overpowered when you have 3 generals with Noldorin Guard from the very beginning.
Modify the files as much as you will, it is, after all, a single player game for your own amusement. The official release prioritize gameplay and balance above many things, so I doubt they'd upgrade the already powerful Noldorin Guard. If you simply want them to be the best of the best and have more elves per unit, go wild on the files.
Lothlorien is easiest faction to play. Once you reach turn 60, get some elite troops and declare war against Kazad-dum. City provides 16,000 income. Ez pz

I think it's more for balancing reasons. Save for eowyn every female character who fights in the lotr movies and books are elves. An extra starting general for an elven faction would remove much of the challenge for them. And as rohan you get cav bodyguards anyway, and quite a few of them at game start
I think this is consistent Lorewise as well as I don't think Galadriel is portrayed as a warrior. Celeborn assumes all of the martial responsibilities for Lothlorien and defeated the forces of Dol Guldor 4 times before finally capturing the fortress, upon which Galadriel proceeded to throw down its walls and purify it of evil.
