3:18 Kovu wasn’t really scar’s adoptive son either. He was just his protégé or at least was GOING to be his protégé (kovu was the last cub born under scar’s reign, and if he’s around kiara’s age, that means he would’ve been a really really young, infant cub when scar died, meaning scar didn’t have much time to mentor him) there’s also a fan theory I’ve seen that imagines the possibility that Zira made it all up. The fan theory goes that after scar died, zira wanted power to rule over the pride lands herself, much like scar, so she claimed that her cub kovu was scar’s heir and subsequently groomed him for the part. It also explains why kovu’s older brother nuka wasn’t chosen as scar’s heir, because his mother zira thinks very little of him and is embarrassed by his weakness. It would’ve been easier for her to groom an infant into a strong and powerful role than her older son who was already shaping up to be a disappointment. This theory also explains why all the lionesses in the first movie were against scar. It would be more consistent if zira didn’t actually admire scar and was just hungry for power and was using him as a symbol after his death as a means of achieving that power

The deleted scene of Zira letting go willingly has one more interesting tidbit. If you look at the final cut, you can see that the animators didn't remove her unsettling smile when she falls. The full scene shows her slowly starting to smile, say "No. Never." with this smile and then let go and fall, smiling all the way. The final cut left only the falling scene, but they didn't remove the smile. You can still see it, albeit it's easy to miss as the scene is very short.

A little off topic, but it’s still Disney related. Here’s a list of scrapped Gravity Falls episodes. Many episodes that never ended up happening have been revealed by Alex Hirsch, the crew and more. Below is a list of all the known
In a writer's panel podcast that Alex Hirsch guest starred on with J. G. Quintel (creator of Regular Show), he revealed a story idea that would have gone somewhere in the middle of the first season. The episode would have been a Labyrinth parody starring Dipper as the brother who was stolen, and Mabel as the reluctant sister who would rather hang out with the David Bowie-like "Groblin" King. It would have begun with Mabel watching a Labyrinth-like movie for the nth time, and Dipper complaining about it so much, she wishes him away. The B-story follows Dipper who reveals the reason why he hates the movie is because he's terrified of puppets and how he overcomes this fear. The episode went unproduced because Disney Channel executives didn't think anyone would understand the reference. Despite that, there were several Labyrinth references thrown into Gravity Falls such as in "Mabel's Guide to Fashion" where Mabel, Grenda and Candy dress Soos up as the Goblin King for one of their "flash makeovers". Candy also had a Labyrinth type costume during Mabel's play in "Sock Opera". The idea of Dipper being afraid of puppets was somewhat hinted at in the Gravity Falls Guide Book in 2014, though it was no longer there by the time of "Sock Opera" (likely hinting that he conquered his fear). Given the episode was never made, it is unknown if David Bowie himself may have guest starred in it as he was still alive when this episode was being developed.
"Sweater Off Dead" was an episode that would have been about Mabel finding a sweater at a swap meet that was haunted by the ghost of the old lady who died wearing it. She would then possess Mabel. This would lead to the gang getting trapped inside the Mystery Shack where they'd have to perform a sweater exorcism on her using knitting needles. While the episode never came to be, Alex Hirsch liked the idea of Mabel being possessed, which lead to the idea being used in "The Inconveniencing" when Mabel is possessed by the ghosts that haunted the Dusk 2 Dawn.
Revealed in the commentaries for the episode "Double Dipper" in the box set, the episode was planned to be called "Party Monster", which involved Dipper summoning a monster (early ideas had it being Bill Cipher) to wreck Grunkle Stan's party, mainly for not liking crowds and partying. The episode was scrapped due to its plot making Dipper too unlikeable and due to the writers having a hard time making the plot work. The overall idea of Grunkle Stan throwing a party at the Mystery Shack though was kept and became Double Dipper, with the plot then being able to move forward by having Dipper being interested in going to a party instead of not, with his goal being to get to dance with Wendy.
There was a planned episode about Dipper and Mabel selling Stan Bobbleheads door-to-door to Gravity Falls residents after Grunkle Stan ordered too many. One of the people interested in buying the bobbleheads is an old lady/mysterious doll collector who wants to make Dipper and Mabel part of her collection, having already done so with Gideon. The twins would then stop her and end up saving Gideon (after deciding not to drown him in a lake while he was asleep). While the episode was never made, it was planned to make an appearance in Journal 3 as an in book exclusive story. However it had to be cut due to the limited number of pages in the book and the decision to focus more so on using the journal to develop Ford and have him tell more of his stories. The episode idea and pages were revealed during a Gravity Falls panel at the 2016 NYCC
During Houston Comic Con in 2015, Alex Hirsch revealed plots for several scrapped episodes after being asked by a fan. He shared 3 examples of episodes and plots that never came to be.
The first one he revealed involved Dipper and Mabel making a commercial for a gum company and attending a Twin convention. There they realize that they're extremely boring compared to the other twins and try to gain power over them. The episode was scrapped given it made no sense and that a gum commercial being the basis of it seemed odd.
The second episode Alex revealed was a camping episode. In it, Stan takes the twins on a camping trip given he thinks technology is evil and that they should get away from their phones. While camping, they get chased by a headless hunter who's cabin they stay in which is full of severed heads on the walls. The episode never ended up happening due to it being creepier than expected and them not being able to make it work.
The most well known episode idea Alex revealed at the event was for a B-Plot for an episode involving Wendy. In it, Wendy gets in trouble with her father and takes her frustration out by stealing stuff in the Mystery Shack. Stan catches her but rather than firing her, decides to train her to become a pickpocket. Eventually Wendy decides they should steal a diamond from the Gravity Falls Museum. The plan fails and Wendy is arrested. However before the police call her father, Stan arrives and says he planned the robbery, resulting in his arrest and Wendy's release. Stan then tells her to use her skills for good rather than evil, citing how she is still young and shouldn't waste her life like this. The idea was never used due to timing, as the plot was only 9 minutes long and they couldn't come up with an A-plot to go with it.
Michael Rianda revealed on Twitter in 2021 a lost episode planned for season two titled "Wendy's On the Road". It would have been heavily inspired by both On the Road and David Lynch. It involved Wendy having a difficult relationship with her dad, and going on a road trip with the twins, Soos and her friends to avoid thinking about it, only to end up trapped in a creepy diner. Like most Wendy episodes, it never happened for unknown reasons.
In the box set commentaries, Alex revealed that originally, the 15th episode of season 2 was going to be an episode focused on her home life where she would somehow gain weather-controlling powers. This episode was actually very close to being produced before Hirsch scrapped it to write the episode that ultimately became "The Last Mabelcorn".
While cleaning out his office, Alex revealed a sketch which was related to a season 2 episode about an old biker friend of Stan's coming to town, who has a Ghost Rider-esque curse. His name was Jimmy Snakes. While the episode never happened, in Scary-oke, an old biker helmet can be seen in Stan's room, which was meant to be a hint towards this episode.
Alex Hirsch revealed in 2017 that he always wanted to make an episode where Grunkle Stan started his own religion called Stanentology (a play on the real life church of Scientology). His holy book would be a 300 page manual on bribery called the Brible and he would start it as a means to get a tax break. The legal department was not pleased with it so it never did become a real episode
And finally, revealed in the box set commentary for the finale, Alex Hirsch revealed that there was a plan for an epilogue episode to follow up after the events of Weirdmageddon. The episode would follow Dipper and Mabel packing and reminiscing about their time in Gravity Falls the day before they are to leave. Blendin would then appear and warn them about time anomaly bubbles still floating around the town. Eventually, the twins somehow fall into one and are transported to the first day they arrived in Gravity Falls (before the events of "Tourist Trapped"). They see how much they were not excited about being there and see how far they had come in their development. The idea was eventually not used and Blendin's fate would end up being different as well as the twins' final days in the town.
Sorry if this comment was too long to read, but I just wanted to share these interesting topics to everyone.

I would love if Toy Story 5 explores this prequel storyline, possibly in the form of a montage or flashback akin to When She Loved Me or Lotsos backstory. It would be really interesting for the 5th film to explain why Woody didn’t know about his own franchise or possibly suffer delusions similar to Buzz, maybe reveal what makes toys come to life to begin with if the film shows the factory where Woody came from? Who knows, we’ll just have to see what story avenue Pixar takes with the 5th film.

I'm positive that the bit of Zira letting go of the rock made it to early releases of Lion King 2, and was edited later to be her just slipping. I'm so incredibly sure that was in the version I watched as a kid, because I remember talking about how I was convinced Zira wasn't actually dead because she'd let go on purpose, and I know I'd have gotten it very early on in it's release, because I was FIXATED on TLK as a kid. I'll have to dig around to see if I can find my old copy.

    • @StarrChild.

In the VHS version I have, the scene is poorly edited. It goes from Kiara offering to save Zira to a hard cut of Zira looking worried and zooming in on her face. Then there's the sound of her slipping but we don't see it and when the shot shows Zira falling, she has a smile on her face which matches with the smile she has in the version of her letting go.
As a kid I was always so sure Zira let go herself because of that smile. That's not the face of someone slipping. My theory is that they fully animated the scene of Zira letting go herself and just used the end part of her falling with her smiling and destroyed the other finished footage to not let it be seen as suicide. The only full scene surviving is the rough sketches.

I watched The Sword in the Stone a month ago on Disney +, and it had this small featurette on an alternate version of the story that was more of a dark sword and sorcery tale instead of the inspirational speech lesson in education that we wound up getting. Among other things, Mad Madam Mim was going to be a darker villain in the vein of Maleficent that would have been well involved in the plot instead of appearing 20 minutes towards the end of the film and being a wacky character. I don't know how much of that treatment exists, but that's all they showed in an official capacity. Also, there were two attempts at a Hercules movie that was about the Trojan War. One was the original film concept, the other was a cancelled DTV sequel film. While I don't know how much of either treatment was finalized, the Trojan War concept DID make it into the Hercules cartoon series. Only it was a rivalry between the Trojan and Athenian high schools, as Helen of Try was a student at Herc's Athenian school, and it was later blown out of proportion by reporter Homer (yes, the Odyssey guy AND hilariously played by Dan Castelleneta, but doing a 50's reporter voice).

Woody’s rarity had more to do with the condition that he was in when Al found him. He’s a vintage toy from the 1950s that was widely produced, but being made of cloth and vinyl was easily prone to damage and degradation, on top of having loose parts like the hat that a child could easily lose. Like it could be true but seeing how much toy story 1 changed from conception to final story, it's very very hard to believe the toy story 2 inspired backstory with Al and Woody's Roundup to be possible.
