I liked this series so far not blown away but I love to just have the options to change profiles and explore different cask maturations from the one and only SB. Cheers
Springbank has done a good job with that. The 12 and the 18 are different enough every year to make me search for them. They are not afraid to mix it up.
Great Discussion! Store near me asking this one for 350… and 12 cs 200 . Don’t know which one should i pick … already gt 3 12 cs baseed on your review.
12 CS review is coming in a few weeks. 200 for the 12 is a markup, but only about 50, and it's better. But you have a collection and this one have a nice hint of rum but nothing that special.
@@topshelfdustin3060 other 3 12cs got it for 150 each. Shame we don’t get the 12 CS second batch here in states. They have a 10 px for 400 aswell. So its gonna be 12 cs or the 10 px.
I was disappointed It sold out on the weekend it was released at the Springbank Shop. I unfortunately got there the following day and could only try it as a dram at the Washback bar. I quite liked it.Cheers
@@arnoldbanderas1595 oh, to be sure. Dustin says he won’t buy the next one, but he will. I think we’ve done about 90 different Springbank’s on this channel and we will continue to do more.
They are definitely running out of casks. When I was there in October they told me a cask of Longrow 24 was the oldest they had, and they had to purchase that bad from the private collection of their late chairman. They had mentioned they have a couple stretches where they produced very little to no Longrow... I forget which years but they're coming up... It's the reason they're dropping the red and the 18. The 21 is a bit funny as it's the one age stated Longrow you can always buy at the distillery (folks don't like paying 2.5x the cost of the 18 for 3 more years that don't make it taste any better). Nice take on this video!
Don't tell anyone but I've done a few 18's vs the 21's....and despite me saying the 21 and 18 are basically the same...next to each other, it's not even close. That said I don't mind the cheap prices on the 21 relatively speaking lol But yeah, I've kinda hinted at this but one of the reasons I find people making it seem that springbank will "always" be the best distillery is false. Their poor cask management is a real problem and it's been a problem in the past too. I think all this NAS longrow they keep doing it just horribly wrong. They should be saving these casks to let them get some age. not pushing out young longrow. They're NOT struggling! There's no reason to sell the whisky so young. I'm even hearing we might see a gap on the hazelburn 10...wtf? The 10?
Completely agree: I don’t need more Longrow NAS on the shelf. Frankly if you need to skip a Longrow Red, skip a year, skip two, don’t put out a Longrow 7 that’s clearly the worst Red release. I love this distillery but we are going to see some bare years. Their barley to bottle experience is now using 6-11 year old whisky. The first time I went I think it was 9-14… it’s still fantastic, but no one is excited about a 14 year old fresh sherry being replaced by a six year old barrel.
@@cujoguai4899 here's the thing. We need to be able to call out our favorite people for coming up short. Ardbeg got crap for their NAS crap. Springbank doing this longrow 100 proof series coming up, NAS....no not cool!
Great vid👍🏻 Best in the series so far😋 But the regular 15y, especially 2024 100% sherry is several points better, sure 5 more years but same price😊98 USD
Jesus, I'd never not get 3 15s for that! 160-170 for the 15 and 190 for this 10 series. The px was over the top sheet, but thats still the only one that's at least done something to help me justify these prices.
Bought a bottle about a month ago and had a chance to buy my second bottle yesterday, but ended up getting 12 CS and 15 instead. Once again these are experimental expressions and if someone is curious enough, I think they are all interesting. Also prices are inflated in the US because of importer, in Europe they are less than 100$
I got the first one in the series which I thought was great, about $110 after tax. Searched for weeks before and after the US release of the second bottle... I located it eventually but for about $220-240. I gave up there, I didn't pay any attention to this past release. The idea of these is awesome... And I would love to do a tasting of all 4, but the rarity, and Pacific Edges premium really ruins it!
I knew you guys would be reviewing this today. It's the smallest outturn yet. PX was 10800 and PC was 10200. The outturns are getting smaller each release. Fino and Manzanilla are up next.

@@topshelfdustin3060 I am talking about those stores inside EU who are asking from these bottles over 300€ easily..One store in germany has local barley for 1300€ but now after 3-4 years since no body is paying for that price it's discounted to 799€.
My local store priced these at $320, so I definitely will not be getting a bottle. I'm sad I wanted to try the 18 this yeard, but they also priced that at $900. I do really enjoy my bottles of 12cs and recommend them if you can get at sub $200.

I'm really glad you reviewed this guys and I want you to know I'm not the least bit jealous 😀Here's the thing though: After so many years of talking about whisky and sherry I just wish the whisky community knew a bit more about actual sherry. Springbank and Amontillado will make absolutely f**k all difference compared to Palo Cortado or Oloroso in a 10 year old cask. It's just marketing crap. Yep, Springbank do it as much as the others. They are not the Bible. Also. I agree with Dustin - It's very possible that Springbank have reached a cask crisis as have so many other distilleries. WT
Once the more obscure woods start making the label, it's normally a bad sign. Some make it work , thinking Kavalan here, but I've hard more then my share of disappointing moments.
We to be fair try to avoid overly going into whisky nuances. And the thing is, we are two guys living 100 miles apart. It's had to be ready to "teach" after that drive. Mike even jokes about my height which you know...is likely a bit less after 100 miles of driving in a car. Jokes aside yeah it would be great if we all could talk more nuanced on the sherry, but it's about as you've told us...the sherry that was sold to scotland....which isn't always the best but could maybe sometimes be? Tough..or are we missing something>? BTW I want to go into this topic a bit as I think some american distilleries get better sherry casks than the scotch guys. And I want to know how or why from you!
