I'm so glad you had a chance to meet Mr. Moles. What a remarkable story, and what a brave soldier. I looked up his obituary because I was curious where he lived (I, too, live in Northern Virginia). Apparently, he lived and is buried in southwest Virginia near Dublin. Thanks again for your videos...really enjoy them.

I've had a German dog tag that was dug up in Stalingrad for years. I've often wondered if there was some way to decipher it and maybe get it to his family. As a veteran myself it kinda hits home that I'd want someone to do that for me. This channel is outstanding! 👍🇺🇸🇩🇪🍻

Great tribute Jean-Loup, Nice is certainly better than the North of England 😅😅. I've always been interested in military history but I think that it's only been the last 12 years or so that I've become immersed in it. The Internet and the readily available access to great documentaries and channels such as yours are wonderful tools to help in understanding and learning about the past....a good accompliment to reading books on a subject. My wife and I toured the south of France, Italy and Switzerland 21 years ago ....visiting Nice, Menton , Antibes etc....even though I was aware of the invasion of southern France during ww2 I had no idea of the sacrifices that soldiers and civilians made at the time....I wish I had known....great stuff, great channel, cheers m8😊😊😊😊

Too bad that Normandy and D day is in all book movies and operation dragoon is virtually forgotten. Your work is amazing, the story telling of individual common people like me and you and the worst thing for all of us is war... As a child who run in shelter during war in Croatia that scars sometimes never heal and I cannot think of soldiers what they saw and endured... What horrors and fear...

It's like how of most people's knowledge of, and most references to the Battle of the Bulge consists exclusively of the siege of Bastogne, when there were many other portions of the battle, and much heroism, that are utterly discarded.
Fortunately, there has been adequate coverage of my particular skirmish of interest, the capture of Cheneux on 20 December.
