Thankfully those 3 days in between the series miraculously made his injury a non factor, when that was “the main factor”. There’s never been a player in playoff history who just had a bad series. They’re always injured somehow.
Yee Boston has a defensive adjustment to stop whatever part of Dallas game hurts them the most. They won’t stop everything but that should give cs enough room to score more than Dallas consistently
Logan’s point abt the cs needing Tatum to finish def possessions w rebounding is BY FAR the best point I’ve ever heard him make. Maybe there’s hope for him but more likely he’s a broken clock lol
Thing is. “Weak points” is relative. I think Luka n kyrie haters point to their defense being trash a lot which make their supporters push back n mayb exaggerate their impact on defense when they play well to their standards. Emphasis on to their standards. Relative to Bostons offensive talent Luka n kyrie are weak points n will get hunted in this series effectively. We’ve seen jb torture Luka. Even jrue on Luka is a mismatch imo. Kyrie is too small for the jays (all 3) and KP. That’s the threat they’ll pull on to get downhill to either finish at the rim or kick to wide open shooters
If you asked me 3 to 2 months ago, I would have picked Celtics, Nuggets, Timberwolves, Thunder, and even Clippers over the Mavericks. But after rewatching 26 regular season games and watching all of the PO games. Here is I think what will happen. - Boston has very good 1v1 defense, is very good at switching, has very good perimeter D, has decent interior D, below average PnR D, can do Zone effectively but not great at it. - Dallas is also very good at 1v1 defense, good at switching, has very good perimeter D, has excellent interior D, has good PnR D, and excellent at Zone. - Boston likes to spam the 5 man spread (just like the OKC Thunder), someone will drive and kickout to an open man for an easier drive or an open shot, they also good with PnR, they can do post up but not that good and they also rely heavily and are very good on iso. This team's offense basically live and die by the three and they have very good 3 point shooters from 1 to 8. - Dallas offense is actually dynamic, they can do 5 man spreads (only decent on this one), they spam the PnR a looooot (beyond elite), they are great in iso (beyond elite), they can do post ups very well (beyond elite), there is basically no offensive sets they can't do because they have one beyond elite playmaker and another close-to-elite playmaker. - Having said all of that, Boston will try to beat Dallas on the 3 point line and see if an open drive is available. - Dallas will try to PnR/Lob Boston to death, and try to get those easy switches. Also if games are close, Luka and Kyrie has the edge here by a huge mile over Tatum, Brown, and the entire Celtics. - I don't think there is anyone on the Celtics that can stop Luka from getting his usual numbers. Jaylen is their strongest defender in the wing, but if I were the Celtics, I won't be assigning him to Luka all the time. Reason why Ludort was able to guard Luka well, was because he is heavier (he is basically an NFL player) and that is his role, and Luka was definitely bothered by his knees during that series (in the 1st four games at least). Same for Tatum, Luka will get his numbers against him too. I think Celtics will have a better chance against Kyrie, but if the latter decides to be more of an offball player this series, even he will get his usual numbers too. Celtics will try to prevent those corner threes from becoming open. - Dallas defense will make it hard for Tatum and Brown, and the rest of the Celtics to score inside. They will force the Celtics to try and beat them on threes, they will designate a roamer and leave 1 Celtics (presumably the worst shooter) undefended or half-defended, very risky because Boston has many good shooters but Mavericks will still dare 1 player to beat them. They will force Tatum and Brown to be passers more than inside scorers. I do think that Dallas has a better chance of defending against Boston's threes than the latter's ability to defend against the former's PnR plays. How do I know this? Because they did the same thing to ANT, KAT, Shai (he was the only one to score efficiently against this Mavs D because of his elite footwork and godly midrange), James Harden, Paul George, Wemby, Jalen Green, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and many other All Stars/Superstars during their PO and Poast All Star run. - CONCLUSION: If Luka is 100% healthy, Mavericks in 4-5. I don't trust teams who live and die by the three, I trust more complete offensive teams to win. And Dallas has elite, lengthy, and physically stronger defenders. If Luka is not 100%, toss up but I think Mavericks will still win in 6-7. I just don't trust live and die by the three kind of teams, and Dallas was feasting against those lineup builds in the latter part of the regular season and against OKC. If Luka's injury is severe, is limping, or Boston averages 50% plus on their threes the entire series, free win to Dallas' opponent.

Before the second round, a friend asked who would be the best finals matchup for Boston and I said "Dallas by far". Reasons: 1) Dallas will have hard time defending Boston. Dallas has too many defensive holes and they can't cover them up by helping off of weak shooters like they did in previous series. (Gobert, McDaniels, Anderson, NAW, Dort, Giddey, etc.). DJJ and Washington are only decent wing defenders. Dallas' bench guys (Green, Hardy, Exum, THJ) just aren't big or athletic enough to hang with Boston's primary scorers. Boston will bring Kyrie and Luka into the action on every play. There's nowhere for them to hide. Lively and Gafford will have to defend a 3 point shooter on the perimeter and will have a hard time helping at the rim. Boston will bring Luka/Kyrie into an action with Tatum or Brown. Then you can leave them in Iso and Tatum/Brown will get layups or easy jumpers, or you can double with the other defender in the action and Holiday/White will get good 3-point shots, or you can have a big man help and Porzingis/Horford will get good 3-point shots. Dallas can't adequately defend all 3 of those scenarios. 2) Dallas will have a hard time attacking holes in Boston's defense. Luka and Kyrie can make difficult shots, and they will. But they will have to work really hard to get their 30 points and the other guys won't provide much help. Dallas likes targeting bigs for perimeter Iso plays, and I'm sure Luka/Kyrie will get some opportunities against Porzingis/Horford. But Boston primarily plays Tatum at the 4, so there are not as many bigs on the floor to target. Dallas obviously likes the PnR too, and this will be their best offense against Boston (and everybody else). There is still a problem that, when Boston does effectively defend the ball handler and the lob threat, there won't be good kick out options. For example, if Luka runs a PnR and doesn't get anything and passes out, Kyrie will still be defended by an all-defense level guard. Boston has had a harder time defending athletic bigs who post-up and/or shoot over the top (Bam, Siakam, Turner, Mobley). Siakam especially exploited opportunities against White/Holiday. Dallas doesn't have these types of players. Lively and Gafford are essentially lob dunkers only. Washington and DJJ are mediocre catch-and-shoot guys, with limited ability to create offense. So I think Boston in 5-6. With that said, there are ways Dallas can win. 1) If Porzingis/Horford go cold, this will hurt Boston, because Dallas can help off them. Porzingis is either not 100% or will be rusty, and Horford has gone cold before. 2) Dallas could find a strategy to stifle Brown or Tatum. They are more developed now, but Tatum had a bad series against GSW in 2022 and Brown against MIA in 2023. 3) Luka could be amazing and carry Dallas (I don't think Kyrie can be that guy). If Dallas does win, then someone will be a historically great hero of the series. Should be fun!
@@tyriantaylor711Because the best player he ever played with before Kyrie was Boban Marjanovic. Brunson was terrible on the Mavs and Kristaps couldn’t stay on the floor.

Has there been that consistency with Luka? Or even lol...the sage master. So yeah they have been successful for a long time...how is that a negative? Only morons would think so. Celtics are going be a bad matchup for Luka. It’s not just Tatum. Brown at 6’6 235 lbs is a better matchup on Luka. Jrue is 6x All Defense, & White is 2x All Defense and both will as switch on to Luka, and KP is a very good matchup at 7’3 on Luka. The whole team is built to defend Luka bro
So were the Clippers and he torched them at 22. Tatum is the only person on the Celtics who has the size to even have a prayer of bothering Luka.@@pleasedonttemptme5963
He has the size to stay attached and contest. Luka can still make those shots but it's not going to be as easy as it was against McDaniels who is too small or Dort/Edwards who are too short to bother him. Tatum is strong enough to stay in his hip and fight back over then has the length to make Luka think about it. People act like, "oh he's so good it doesn't matter" but go look at what Kobe shot against Detroit and Boston in the Finals. Having good defenders still matters against great players.
Dallas has the best player in the series and the two best closers and difficult shot makers in the series. Dallas also has more players who are better in the clutch and are more recently tested than Boston’s paltry run through the east. KP will not be 100%, Dallas will find ways to keep a big on the floor at all times and their pick and roll will bother Boston tremendously. Luka and Kyrie will repeatedly eviscerate Boston’s defense when they go 1 on 1 with their elite shot creation abilities. They are the team that blitzes the 2nd lowest amount in the NBA and won’t have an answer for Luka’s pnr mastery (no team currently does). They will win 1-2 games off three point shooting alone, will stretch Dallas’ defense and get better post and paint looks than Minnesota did, but ultimately will lose because of Dallas’ superior backcourt, paint protection, pnr game and lob threats. Multiple players key to Boston’s offensive structure will get into foul trouble guarding Luka over the course of the series. Kleber, PJ Washington, DJJ and Derrick lively are all perfectly capable of guarding shooting bigs on the perimeter, which challenges their entire 5 out offensive scheme. Boston can splash and based on that alone will certainly win games and keep almost all games close, but their softness and lack of killer instinct from their star players will ultimately not allow them to match up to Luka and Kyrie. Mavs in 5, at most 6.
Boston got one of the guys in the league that you can can pencil in at least a clutch defensive play. Jrue doesn’t just play good defense, he makes incredible defensive plays when needed and forces the issue.

I agree with a few of their takes, but focusing on stopping Luka isn't smart. Luka can't be stop, but you can limit his offensive production. The Celtics' focus should be stopping everybody else, because it's much easier.

It’s so funny how people use the Clippers and OKC series as saying oh yea the Celtics can guard Luka lmao. Sorry to break it to you but Luka was injured dam near the entire playoffs up until the Wolves series and that’s what was stopping him. Luka at 20/21 took the Clippers who had a million times better defenders then the Celtics have to guard Luka by himself to 6 and 7 games and Luka is way better now than he was then. Ah the good ol' "KP will destroy the mismatch"... I used to push the same narrative when he was on the Mavs only to see him be unable to post-up guards and settle for turnaround fadeaways time after time. When it falls it's great, but when it doesn't and he has a 10 inch advantage on someone but can't bullyball to the basket it becomes sad. Been there before. Honestly the Celtics should keep him in the sidelines and use him occasionally like the Mavs are doing with THJ. They are both not built for this moment.
I think too much is made of Lukas inefficiency in first part of the playoffs. I think it had more to do with his health than people being able to guard him.
When you watch this video, Carlson comes with a really convincing storyline how the Celtics are just too good of a team and will be just too much for the Mavs. But going back to older videos, he was evenly convinced that the Mavs would be beaten by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Having convincing arguments doesn't always make you right.
At a twolves fan who saw Luka hit that step back 3 live the mavericks are great and good, if they shoot 50-60% again yeah they can take the series but I think on average this Celtics team is at its peaks and they win it the majority of the time. Logan’s take on Luka with the jokic or lebron effect is real having the best player does matter, but we will see what Tatum does to really show he is a #1 option undisputed. It’s really cool to see if Luka or Tatum will finally get that ring, also love for kyrie he’s battled through rosters good for him
Boston is better in so many ways than Dallas. They will win the NBA title. I literally said Boston’s best chance to win was if Dallas came out the West, and didn’t think it would happen.. Now that it has, I just don’t see how that lineup (Tatum, Brown, KP, Jrue, White) doesn’t get it done um no disrespect but Luka & Kyrie with 2-man iso, it’s not enough to beat them
Boston was getting cooked by TJ McConnell and Andrew Nembhard and y'all talking like they going to shutdown the Mavs😂 Mavs played a specific defense vs OKC and the Timberwolves because that gave them the advantage. DAL isn't scared of KP. Mavs in 6
Indiana was also the number 1 offense in the league , they played faster than Dallas, and also have a lot of talent player and ball moment , plus Boston played down to competition
No one can account for the intangible effect that any player can have (i.e. the Jordan-effect). Luka's shear will and ability to go even a higher level than he shows during the regular season and demoralize entire teams and their fans and steal souls can not be accounted for!

@@KurtyAnderson What a random group of players to compare to Luka. Mitchell went off on the Celtics before getting injured so that wasn't successful. People who guard Luka see a sharp decline in offense over a series. Brown is too valuable offensively to get cooked by Luka and get into foul trouble. It pained Logan so much to give credit to the Celtics! It was funny to see the mental gymnastics he was doing 😂 Then, when it came time to select "Dallas in 6" he hedged with a caveat about their shooting haha Boston in 5
You guys are putting a lot of faith in Jason Tatum. A guy with the reputation of not producing when it matters most, while Luka is "that guy" who manipulates defences to get what he wants, Mavs in 6
I think there are defensive issues on both sides. On Dallas's side, they prefer to keep their bigs close to the basket. They want to defend the paint at all costs. But how much does that play into Boston's hand? Boston is happy to bomb threes, and they're going to have five shooters on the floor at all times. Dallas won't be able to ignore anyone as easily as they could in previous series. On the other side, Boston has been bad at defending the pick and roll in the playoffs. Part of that is that they didn't have Porzingis. Horford is too old to stay with guards. But Porzingis will be coming off injury. And while he's a better rim protector than Horford, I still don't think you want him trying to contain Luka or Kyrie in space. I think Boston will just switch everything and try to contain Luka and Kyrie one on one, but that's easier said than done. One thing in Boston's favor is that they're very good at not allowing corner threes. Dallas has feasted on corner threes all year. But if Boston makes a point of not giving up those shots, are they conceding something else? Knowing Mazzulla, he'll probably be quite happy to play the math game and deny the rim and the 3pt line. He'll trust that his team's 3pt shooting can beat the Mavs' midrange shooting. All in all, it's crazy to me that Boston had a historically dominant regular season AND went 12-2 in the playoffs with a historically great playoff net rating...and yet, everyone's picking Dallas. I think I'll go with the numbers here. Also, the idea that one team is clutch and the other is not is overblown. Both of these teams have been very good in the clutch all year (including the playoffs). Boston in 6.
Honestly, I'm not super worried about Horford on Doncic. Doncic isnt exactly a speed merchant and Hordford has always moved his feet well for his size and definitely has the size to handle Doncic's physicality. Edit: I'm not saying he'll do a great job on him. I just don't see him being worse than any other big and being played off the court for it.
I don't think you and others realize Luka's an elite athlete in the halfcourt, his deceleration and ability to change direction is elite. There's a reason defenders get baby giraffe legs trying to defend him.
Boston will also make Luka Play defense cause if Dallas helps or double , Boston is swing the ball to an open shooter unlike Minnesota who have Rudy and McDaniels who you can help off of or Josh Giddy who you can ignore from 3, JT and JB bully him in the regular season
Jaylen Brown is as good an option as exists in the league to put on Luka. Not saying he'll stop him or shut him down, but he will do as good a job as basically anyone.
I can’t get Boston struggling with pacers out of mind. Maybe Boston didn’t get up for it thinking they’ll just walk through them but that’s not a good sign either way. Mavs in 6
The Celtics with Porzingis are a different animal, specially on defense. Their guards are more aggresive in the perimeter knowing a 7'3 center is down in the paint. Celtics had the 2nd best defense this year but KP only played 57 games. The storm is coming.
My heart says Mavs in six, but with the point made about the collection of physical strength that Boston has, I'll go with my head. Mavs in seven. Luka very well may have no choice but to rip these boys hearts out.
Boston will get embarrassed in this series, unless Tatum, Brown and KP go against their characters of shrinking when the lights are the brightest. Depending on KP to win a championship isn't a great formula.
Like stated numerous times, Dallas is not the same team before the trade deadline and after the trade deadline. Looking at the Regular Season between Dallas and Celtics doesn't tell you anything. But the Celtics is the same team before and after (you could even argue the Celtics were stronger in the Regular Season because of a fit Porzingis). So let's look at the matchups during the regular season between the Celtics and the teams Dallas just faced in the Playoffs. Celtics vs LA Clippers 1-1 // Celtics vs OKC Thunder 1-1 // Celtics vs Minnesota 1-1 So the Celtics are 0.500 against 3 of the top 4 teams in the West. (Celtics vs Denver 0-2, so 0.375 agains the top 4 teams in the West). You can clearly see that the Celtics #1 seed is inflated because of playing in the East. And their record is not great against the top teams in the West. Now if you do look at Dallas during the Regular Season against these same teams. Dallas vs LA Clippers 1-3 // Dallas vs OKC Thunder 1-3 // Dallas vs Minnesota 1-3 So Dallas is 0.250 against 3 of the top 4 teams in the West. (Dallas vs Denver 1-2, so 0.285 against the top 4 teams in the West) Dallas in the Playoffs against these teams 12-5, so 0.706. Dallas is another animal since the trade. Mavs in 6!
Boston has no supporting cast lol they got a great top 6 though but hey if they not significantly better than Dallas starting lineup and bench rotation advantage is going to be Dallas because Luka is just better than everybody else and Kyrie can be the best on the court at any time.
- CONCLUSION:
If Luka is 100% healthy, Mavericks in 4-5.

Reasons:
1) Dallas will have hard time defending Boston.

Having good defenders still matters against great players.
you realize luka has cooked tatum and jb right?

6 ecf and 2 finals appearances is not producing I guess 😂 dumby
Before I watch, how many games did they pick the Celtics to win in?
There is no way I can predict this series. I support Mavs cause of Luka but I wouldn't mind Boston getting one

@@cvgodd1432
Almost..
Boston will get embarrassed in this series, unless Tatum, Brown and KP go against their characters of shrinking when the lights are the brightest. Depending on KP to win a championship isn't a great formula.
Why not? 😂
Celtics vs LA Clippers 1-1 // Celtics vs OKC Thunder 1-1 // Celtics vs Minnesota 1-1
So the Celtics are 0.500 against 3 of the top 4 teams in the West.
Dallas vs LA Clippers 1-3 // Dallas vs OKC Thunder 1-3 // Dallas vs Minnesota 1-3
So Dallas is 0.250 against 3 of the top 4 teams in the West.
(Dallas vs Denver 1-2, so 0.285 against the top 4 teams in the West)
Dallas in the Playoffs against these teams 12-5, so 0.706.
Dallas is another animal since the trade.
Mavs in 6!
Wrote all that just to get cooked 😂
SESH!
I'm rooting for Dallas but I'm predicting Celtics in 6
Mavs fans really came out from under a rock. Haven't seen a mavs fan since 2011.
Boston has no supporting cast lol they got a great top 6 though but hey if they not significantly better than Dallas starting lineup and bench rotation advantage is going to be Dallas because Luka is just better than everybody else and Kyrie can be the best on the court at any time. Gonna be a fun series. Mavs in 6. Sidenote: Kidd has been coaching his ass off and he’s going to out coach Joe Mazulla.
So you haven’t watched any Boston game
Update? Lol 💀

Why??
They have 6 Peermanent PLAYERS and Dallas only 2 potentially players

Logan whats good kid?
Boston does have way more experience (with losing).
Huh? 😂
I think you are way overrating Boston's ability to guard Luka
Not really they are just taking away the passes is all they said. The only guy on Boston that can lock up doncic is Tatum but Tatum is guarding the bigs to stop the lob
Huh? 😂🎉
As a Mavs fan the way Carson was laying it out really stressed me out lol. Who let this team get so overpowered? Why tf did the Bucks give them Jrue for a bag of potato chips as if they arent one of their biggest obstacles in the conference? Why did it have to be this Boston team this year
Oh well it will only make it that much sweeter when Luka dominates and we get to say he took down a historically dominant superteam for his first ring lol. Mavs in 6 😅
Celtics are going to beat Luka & the Mavs. This isn’t Minnesota

@@nomorepartiezzI know you recognize my username.. And I’m glad. Mavs are uh, not going to win this series.
I was surprised Minnesota lost in the fashion that they did I can admit I underestimated Luka (Slightly.. But not much), but with ‘Boston’ they are much better offensively than Ant & Towns, McDaniels..
They were my preseason pick to win it all. And you will cry soon.. 💀

Boston is the greatest team post 2019 championship teams says the guy in gray. LOL. Didnt consider they play mostly tanking east teams and injured star players in the playoffs. Almost a decade of losing despite being a top team in the east, no ring and here we go crowning them the greatest of wth are you taking about
They said Wolves have a generational Defense as well. Jeez
The guy on the right has been wrong towards Dallas . Still don't learn
Boston don't double...Both Kyre and Luka will eat in this series...
They’ll eat and lose in 4. Snooze fest of a finals, too easy for the Celtics. Feels bad
Luka ate the last time we played and lost by 30 lol
They do a great job of guarding Kyrie, there is a reason why he is 0-10 in his last 10 against them

Kristaps Porzingis is going to be a real disappointment for all the Celtics fans. Absolutely no-show.
It does seem like there are a lot of expectations on him for not playing in 2 months. Idk, I can’t see him being as effective as he was in the regular season.
Lmao 😂 dude cooked y’all in 20 mins. He had more pts than all your big men in 10 mins 😂
Homeless Eminem always has the worst takes
I can't wait to see all the excuses Celtics fans are going to make after Luka rips their heart out.
Why would they make any excuse
Because all of them have been running their mouths about how easy this series is and how dallas has no chance and how Luka is gonna get locked up and blah blah blah. There is no world where they say all that, the Celtics lose in any fashion, and they don't make excuses to try and shift blame to avoid accountability for their words. @@KurtyAnderson

@@Mystra you don't even believe that
Didn’t Luka himself say Jrue Holiday is the guy that guards him the best? Also, Dallas hasn’t played any 3pt shooting teams all playoffs so they could just pack the paint. Dallas is super young (most guys 25 under) compared to the Celtics (26 and over), Celtics because they are so much older has much more experience; but Celtics have played no Superstars all playoffs… it will be an interesting finals
OKC was the best 3pt % team for the year🤦🏿♂️
@@doug7vonNone of their shooters made any open shots
Luka said jrue was good but never that he guards him best. Never seen jrue play luka good. Jrue is also not built like dort either
This really feels like Celtics in 5 or less. Doesn’t feel close at all, oh well.. better luck next year for a good matchup
Yall be like Luka balled out even when he goes his usual 7-21 from the field 😂
That's not his usual at all. You don't watch any Mavs games.
What do you mean "his usual 7-21?"? That's just factually untrue. Luka is a career 46% shooter in the playoffs. And in the regular season, he's a career 47% shooter.

Whether you think Boston would win or not the way these guys broke it down has to make you really rethink about your pick. If you didn’t your bias or lying to yourself. You could still think mavs will win but after this you would’ve had to re think a littlr
The Luka glazing is crazy. He’s not far and away the best player on these series. He’s the best but only on one side of the ball so the gap isn’t huge. Let’s not act like Luka doesn’t have a worse shooting percentage than Tatum in these playoffs. We are killing Tatum but praising Luka make it make sense
Offense and playmaking is way stronger than defense that can't stop anybody
Funny how u didn’t address the fact that Tatum is actually shooting better than him in these playoffs but still good defense just guaranties that u will shut if something it will be an either or. Either Luka gets his and they shut off everyone else’s water or they let everyone get there’s and contain Luka. In the
Previous games they’ve let Luka get his he’s averaging like a 40 pt triple double but he’s 0-2 and got blown out.
@callico4044 Luka was on one leg for tue first 2 series. No lift on his jumpers. I say this as a Celtic's fan. Chuck those stats in the bin. Watch what he did against Minny the last few games. Now he has a week off. Basketball is fundamentally about creating the best looks. Luka does that more then Boston as an entire team can cause we don't have a playmakers like him.
Out of 100 possessions, 80% of Luka's will be very good looks. For Boston it will be like 65%. Our offence gets stuck in the mud too often and the shot clock is winding down.
@@alixus10 Luka can generate good shots but he doesn’t he’s shooting contested fadeaway 3s. And I’m going to tell u like I told all that ant lovers. He had a hot 5 game stretch. Luka shit 54% on step backs lady series that’s way above his average.
